“Can’t tell, but just a little farther ahead. Two corners?” She peered at her phone, which suddenly went dark. “Shit,” she muttered. “Sorry, does cursing bother you?”

(I thought I responded to this earlier, but I guess my reply didn’t go through…)

Eli rubbed Rainy’s shoulder, trying to calm the girl down. “First one seems fine, but poison is still pretty bad.. and they’ll probably just be spaced out along the main pathway.”

@WriteOutofTime

"Yeah," Rainy said. She wasn't going to say it out loud, for fear of being the 'helpless blind girl' but she was really ready to go home.

@ImNotCrazyImAFangirl

“I guess there’s nowhere else,” she sighed. She carefully walked forward, looking at the ground. They came to a room with a disco-like floor. “Ummm…”

@Desvelarse pets

Eli led Rainy along and stopped at the floor. “I’ve seen enough adventure movies to assume that if we step on a wrong tile, something bad will happen.”

@ImNotCrazyImAFangirl

“Kind of. It’s like a chess board, almost. Wait, that’s probably not anymore helpful. Sorry,” Maya said, slapping her forehead. “A grid? I don’t know, I’m really bad at this. Sorry.”

@WriteOutofTime

"Like checkers," Rainy mused. "It's the only game I used to play before I lost my sight. Doesn't matter. Are there different colors? And how many?"

@WriteOutofTime

Rainy was quiet for a long moment. Finally, she said, "What if we stepped on the most faded ones? The ones that were used the most should have more wear, right?"

@ImNotCrazyImAFangirl

“That would be a good idea. I’m guessing this is where the pit comes in though, so does anyone have rope? Have one person go across first, so if they fall the people on the other side can pull them up again.”

@ImNotCrazyImAFangirl

Here,” she said, handing him the umbrella. “It won’t extend all the way, so I guess the last few steps will be luck.” She took a deep breath, and with one hand on the umbrella, stepped onto the most faded piece. It held and nothing happened. “Good luck to me.”

@ImNotCrazyImAFangirl

She did well for the first half, but soon had to stop. “Guys… I can’t tell which one is the most faded here,” she said. She sounded a little scared, voice trembling.

@Desvelarse pets

Eli took the umbrella and watched anxiously. He really hoped this would work. She could end up with a broken leg. They had no idea how far down the pit was.
