(All right. I can probably check in every night.)
Citra was highly aware of the tense atmosphere as she walked in between everyone. She hoped that Piper and Zol could work out their issues. She glanced over her shoulder at Zol, smiling gently to let him know that she was on his side as well.
(we neeeeeeeeed another plot point)
Though the look from Citra made him feel a little better, Zol still felt deeply ashamed. He would have loved to stroll side by side with her and speak together. But… He gazed at her retreating form as she approached Piper and seemed to walk alongside her quite amiably. No. It would be better if he stayed behind.
"Piper…" Citra began slowly, unsure really how to proceed. She never had friends before, so she was doubtful that trying to amend the faults between the two was such a good idea, but if this was truly a journey of the soul, then they would all need to be on the same side. "I do not think it wise to have Zol be a…well a pariah. I have been one all my life and it is not pleasant. Quite harmful to the soul when we are on such a journey." She was rambling at this point, but she couldn't help it. She glanced back at Zol again, eyes twinkling with her strange blackflame.
Frost had padded on silently listening to the talk behind her. Then suddenly she stopped. Watching her ears flattened as she searched the trees before her… I thought I saw…
Zol broke off from trying to hear what Citra was saying. He held out his staff in front of him protectively. "What is is Frost?" he asked warily.
"I-I'm not sure…" she said her fur standing on end. "I thought I saw something in the trees….."
"My comrades!" Zol called ahead to Citra and Piper, "Beware! We may have unwelcome guests!" his brow furrowed. "Guard yourselves."
Frost backed up into the group, I wonder what it was… she thought anxiously, I mean… it-it cant have been….
"You seem afraid friend," said Zol, "What fear besets you?"
"I-" frost took a breath to calm down, "i thought I saw someone from my homeland, a dangerous man…" she said carefully, "But it couldn't have been him.. He'd never come this far after only me.."
"Do not be afraid." comforted Zol, "You are safe with us." But he glanced behind him anxiously.
Frost managed to calm down, "Dont worrry about it, He cannot be here because he died a few moons ago.." she said. Well that isn't entirely true, but I don't really wanna go into the details..
Citra stepped up beside them, catching the last part of the conversation. "Nevertheless we should remain on guard." She said quietly, her sharp eyes scanning the forest around them. "I do not see anyone…" she murmured to the she-wolf.
"I know…." murmmerred frost as she shifted to stand next to citra.
Citra raised her brows, eyes searching the expression of the girl next to her. She tilted her head speaking softly, "Shall we continue on then?" Her gaze flicked to Zol and back, seeing no danger.
Frost kept her face emotionless though her eyes showed fear. And waited for the group to move.
((They can find a mysterious dead body??))
Piper sighed, and turned to Citra, careful to keep her voice down so Zol wouldn't hear. "I know, I know, I'll talk to him next time we stop for the night, it's just," she paused and rubbed her arm anxiously. "It really hurt when he did that, and I need time to think it over." She smiled tiredly at the other girl. Truth is, her whole sense of being there was off. She felt there was something always watching her from the shadows, taunting her.
Frost shifted again and stayed close to the group as they kept moving.
((elemental CSI. i dig it. XD))
Citra nodded in understanding, although she would never really be able to relate to the other girl's predicament. "It'll be okay, Piper. The Gods would not let you suffer without a purpose." She frowned slightly, realizing that it was probably not the best thing to say to her but she could think of nothing else. She blushed and stared forward as they walked.
Frost kept pace with the group but was silent and extremely wary as they pressed on.
Zol frowned, worried, as he saw Piper and Citra talking. What were they saying? Was it about him? What if Piper somehow convinced Citra that he should not journey with them any further? He shoved the troubling thoughts out of his head. It matters not what others think of you. But the words gave him no comfort.
And besides, spoke his mind, you are not worthy to travel with companions. You are shamed.
Frost noticed that Zol looked a bit uneasy. she dropped back to walk beside him. "Are you ok Zol?" she asked tentatively.
He gave a fleeting smile, “It matters not.” He quickly changed the subject. “The sun goes down to sleep. We should prepare for the same.”
Piper sighed. "I hope so," Her thoughts wandered back to her conversation with the Ocean. It pained Her not to take Piper into the icy depths of Her. Without her darkness, she could only stay where the light shone. It hurt so much, for Her and Piper not to be where no light shone. It was pitiful what only being half-water could do.
Zol stopped. “Let us make camp,” he said, “the light wanes quickly.”
Frost nodded, Shifting and loping ahead she quickly located a small thicket that would be well sheltered from the elements.
Citra grinned at the wolf. "This will be quite nice." She spoke softly as she glanced around the thicket. After stacking a healthy bundle of sticks and logs, she waved a graceful hand over them, blackflame bursting to life merrily. Soon the air around them was comfortably warm. Stepping back from her handiwork, Citra rubbed her injured shoulder, it still twinged her a bit.
Frost shifted and crouched, down rifling through her bag before pulling out a small package, "I don't think anyone has the will or energy to hunt in this creepy forest," she said, "So we can share my extra rations" she said cheerfully unwrapping the package, which contained dried meat, and dried fruit, as well as bread and cheese.
