"Sure. See you in a bit," Devon said as she stood. "Say goodbye to Sebastian, Layla!"
Layla looked up at her, then over at Sebastian. "Bahstin go bye-bye?"
"Sure. See you in a bit," Devon said as she stood. "Say goodbye to Sebastian, Layla!"
Layla looked up at her, then over at Sebastian. "Bahstin go bye-bye?"
(ooh, cool pfp and username)
Sebastian bent down so that he was eye-to-eye with the little girl, softening his tone. "Just for a bit, okay? Bahstin will be back soon, I promise. I want you to be good for your mommy, can you do that for me?"
(Lol. Thanks!)
Layla giggled again and bapped his nose. "Bye-bye, Bahstin. See 'gin soon?"
Sebastian couldn't help a chuckle. "Definitely, Layla, see 'gin soon."
"All right, you two. It's time for us to go. I'll see you in a bit, Sebastian," Devon said, her voice holding a bit of laughter in it from watching the interaction.
Sebastian’s cheeks flushed, hearing the slight teasing note in her voice, but he nodded and straightened. “See you.”
(Skip?)
(Sure. The movie?)
(yeah sure)
(Okie doke.)
Devon arrived at the theater and looked around for Sebastian.
Don't get your hopes up. He probably won't show. You know he won't. That whole thing with Layla earlier? That was just an act.
Her hands twitched slightly as she continued to look around, determined to prove her thoughts wrong.
Sebastian rushed through the doors of the movie theatre, his hair messy and tousled from running in the wind. He halted, sweeping the place for Devon, and a smile immediately lit up his face when he caught sight of her.
“Devon, hey! Sorry I’m a bit late, I had to bus here.”
He's here. He's actually here…
Devon gave him a small smile, her thoughts causing her to be even quieter than normal. "Hey, Sebastian. Glad you made it."
He faltered slightly, hearing her change in tone. “Are you alright?”
Snap out of it. He’s here, so calm down.
“Oh, yeah,” Devon said before clearing her throat. “Yeah, no, I’m fine. Sorry. Just have a lot going through my mind.”
Sebastian frowned slightly, but didn’t prod. “If you’re sure.. you ready to go?”
“Yup! Should we get popcorn?” Devon asked, starting toward the ticket counter.
“Sure,” he agreed, easing her in the right direction. “I can pay, if you’d like.”
“No, you’re getting the movie. I’ll get the popcorn,” Devon said, smiling over at him.
"Okay," he relented, though he was overwhelmed with a sudden wave of guild. Devon shouldn't have to do anything for him, it wasn't right. "How's Layla?"
Devon’s smile widened into a grin at the mention of her daughter. “She was so excited to see my parents. And they were so excited to see her, too. The amount of smiles and giggles in that house was almost overwhelming for a while,” she chuckled. “It was really sweet. My parents begged to keep her overnight, so I let them. They’re keeping her tomorrow, too, while I’m at work.”
"That's sweet," he replied with a genuine smile, referring to the first part. The thought of the tiny child brought on a happy feeling– she was just so cute.
(I love how they’re bonding over the one thing that Devon thinks would push him away.)
“It was very sweet. My parents love her,” Devon said as she stepped up to the counter. “What size popcorn do you want?”
(Ikr)
“A small,” he decided, wanting her to pay as little as possible.
Devon glanced over at him. "Are you sure? Will you want a drink with that?"
“Yeah, I’m sure,” he replied with a smile, running a hand through his blonde curls. “And no thanks, no drink with that.”
Devon hummed, nodding slowly. "All right. If you're sure," she said before she turned to the counter to order. "A small popcorn, a medium popcorn, and an Icee, please."
Sebastian stood back, watching her order. The sheer size of the crowd was beginning to get to him, but he was careful not to let it show.
Devon glanced around the room as she waited, her fingers tapping the counter almost subconsciously. A few moment later, the popcorn and her drink arrived, and she took them with a polite smile and "Thank you."
They entered their designated theatre, selecting seats close to the top. While shifting in his seat, Sebastian accidentally brushed Devon with his shoulder, and flinched back, apologizing quickly.
Devon blinked and raised her eyebrows. "It's fine, Sebastian. No harm done…"
He nodded and relaxed into his seat, glancing over at the screen. "Sorry. What time is it?"
