“I’m not judging. Just teasing,” Sterling chuckled.

"Yeah, you do that a lot."

“It’s who I am, Cassie. You’ll get used to it.”

"I get that enough from the girls back home, I don't need anyone else." She chuckled.

“Aw… I’m hurt,” Sterling laughed.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say." She rolled her eyes with a smile.

Sterling winked and looked around the room. “I wonder when we’ll get to eat.”

Her phone buzzed, it was one of her friends, Mandy
Mans: Already hooking up with your partner, Karma?
She blushed bright red.
Cass: NO!! He just likes to tease!
Mans: Suuuure.

“Who’s that?” Sterling asked, glancing over at her.

"My friend Mandy. She's being weird."

Sterling hummed in response, nodding slowly. “Friends are weird, aren’t they?”

(OMG I'm so sorry, I had a long day and accidentally fell asleep for 2 hours)
"Yes, most friends are weird but mine are weirder than normal."

(Lol. Don’t worry about it. I’m totally jealous.)

“Oh, really? How so?” Sterling chuckled.

"Because I get my sense of humor from them and like I said earlier, dark, sexual, or bad jokes are best to me. Yeah, I blame them completely."

“Hey, the crazy friends are the best friends, right?” Sterling asked with a grin. “At least you’d have some company if you got arrested.”

"I guess." She shrugged. Once again, her phone buzzed, this time from Carly who was sat at the table behind them.
Carly: But you'd like it better if you were stuck in prison with him.
"Okay, you can shut up!" She turned to confront the familiar brunette, who just giggled and turned back around like nothing had happened.

“What is it this time, hm?” Sterling wondered, unable to keep the laughter from his voice.

"Nothing!" "She likes you!" "Carly!" "What?" "I don't even know the guy, don't jump to conclusions!" She scolded the girl, fighting against the blush that threatened to take over her entire face.

Sterling smiled at Cassandra. “Hey, people get teased about liking me all the time. In my range of hearing, too. Don’t worry about it.”

"Yeah but it's not true!" "Mhm, suuuure. Whatever you say, Karma." "I can't find it!" "Find what?" "Where I asked for your damn opinion, Carly!" The girl simply laughed and turned back to her own partner.

“Sorry, I should have clarified that it’s not always true when others get teased about it,” Sterling said with a shrug. “But again, don’t worry about it.”

She dropped her head on the table with a soft thud. "Ughhh, why did I choose to deal with these people? They do this all the time."

“Because friends like to torture their friends, I guess,” Sterling said with a shrug. “I think that’s their job. Just to torture each other.”

She picked her head up to look at him with a small smile. "Yeah, I suppose that's true. The only reason Macy and her boyfriend are together is that I literally shoved her into him and they accidentally kissed."

(It’s in an RP — “Piece By Piece” if you’re curious — and their ship name is Steed. The other ship is Cash, and they’re fluffy and cute, too. But they don’t have any problems right now… We solved their big one too soon. Lol.)

Sterling laughed, drawing the attention of a few nearby people. He ignored them as he grinned over at Cassie. “That’s hilarious. Honestly. How’d you pull that off?”

"I don't know! Our friend group knew she had a crush on him and they were talking one day and I decided to be evil and kind of nudge them together. Unfortunately for her, I overestimated my push and full on shoved her which caused them to fall over and land mouth to mouth. I was dying of laughter on the floor in the other room while the two of them were stuttering, blushing messes. It was great."

“Oh my gosh, that sounds like it was hilarious,” Sterling snickered. “I would totally have wanted to see that.”

"I have never laughed so hard in my life, I couldn't breathe for like a solid minute. I still have the video of it, actually! It was too funny to get rid of."

Sterling’s eyes and grin widened. “Can you show me?”

"Yeah, sure!" She pulled out her phone and opened a familiar video. Macy looked a lot like Cassandra except with black hair instead of Cass's blood red. A lot of people thought they were twins. The boy, Jake, was practically a movie model cutout from some old beach movie. They were stood in a kitchen with Cass behind a wall, peeking out. It was obvious that they were crushing on each other massively, just choosing to ignore it. After a couple minutes, Cass popped out, ran in, and shoved Macy. "You'll thank me later!" She called as she returned to her spot behind the wall. Macy let out a short yelp and fell forward, knocking Jake down with her. When they landed, there was silence. Video proof showed that in the fall, they'd kissed. Which is when in-video Cassie started dying, bursting into hysterical laughter with both Macy and Jake yelling at her in the background.
