Aniña smiled softly at her, "I love you too, Liran." She took Sequoia's hand in hers and gave it a small squeeze before resting her head on her wife's shoulder with a sigh through her nose.
Aniña smiled softly at her, "I love you too, Liran." She took Sequoia's hand in hers and gave it a small squeeze before resting her head on her wife's shoulder with a sigh through her nose.
Sequoia smiled brightly, carding fingers through her wife's long hair as they rode back to the manor in peaceful silence. It seemed like they were slowly being cut off from any entertainment. The trip to the market had been a disaster, it was obvious that they couldn't go back without risking another meeting with the spider woman. The forest couldn't be explored because of the Nightstalker.
Aniña pretty much fell asleep during the ride home, relaxed and comfortable in her wife's presence. She was nearly fast asleep but then the carriage lurched and she jumped a little with a small noise of surprise, "Blasted bumpy roads…"
Sequoia snorted, pressing a soothing kiss to Aniña's temple, running a hand over her wife's hair in an effort to get her all relaxed again. "If all the money wasn't funneled into the army, you might have some money to repair them," she teased.
Aniña rolled her eyes with a sigh through her nose, "Yeah yeah. Well that's not my fault now is it?" She raised an eyebrow with a small smile before her eyes closed again.
Sequoia blew a raspberry at her because she couldn't give a good response but she also couldn't let Aniña have the last word. She still kept running her hand through Aniña's hair, smiling as she laid down on Sequoia's shoulder again.
Aniña laughed lightly, a warm fluttering feeling in her stomach. She didn't know what it was but she liked it. She took Sequoia's free hand in hers, rubbing her thumb in small circles over the back of it gently.
"I'm really glad that you ended up liking me. Even after you forgot and we had to start from scratch." Sequoia confessed, surprising herself just as much as she might have surprised Aniña. She knew that she really loved her wife, sure, but she hadn't realized how scared she was of being forgotten again. HAdn't realized how important it was for Aniña to know she was loved, just in case.
Aniña tried to not look so surprised, so she kept her eyes closed and gave her wife's hand a squeeze, "Yeah… I-" She took a moment to think about what she was going to say, calming her nerves, "I always new some part of me liked you… I just hadn't admitted it to myself yet…"
"I didn't know if I'd like you. You seemed pretty and strong, but also kind of…' Sequoia paused, trying to reign in her word choice. She really didn't want to ruin this moment by accidentally insulting Aniña. "…cold. And I didn't know if you would even keep me around. But you did. And I'm very grateful."
“I would have kept you around no matter what,” Aniña said, giving her wife’s hand another squeeze, “And I’m sorry I was so cold, it was just how I was raised.”
"Well, I know that now, and that's what really matters." Sequoia held up their linked hands with a soft smile. "This is what really matters. And we have each other despite the things that want to keep us apart."
Aniña nodded in agreement, giving her wife’s hand a kiss before one to her cheek, “True words. At least we have eachother now. And for the many days to come, too.”
(Just wanted to say I'll be off all evening trying to prep for my last 2 finals. I should be able to reply tomorrow.)
(Alright, that’s fine. Take all the time you need :)
Sequoia nodded, tucking her head under Aniña's chin with a soft smile. She didn't know too much about passing policy, but she did know how to talk to people. How to ask the kinds of questions people felt obliged to say 'yes' to. And with Aniña by her side, she felt more confident than ever in the future. "I think we could do great things. Can do great things."
Aniña returned her smile, “I believe we can too.” For the first time in a long time, she belived what she was saying. The two f them can do great things and will do great things, she had no doubt in that.
(I'm gonna be at a holiday party tonight, so I can't message til tomorrow.)
(All good, have fun!’
