They are like the best friends ever and one of them has a cancer so they decide to do something huge and memorable.
They actually want to run away without telling their parents - of course - and stay hidden so long or do something so incredible that they would be on national tv.
I need a few things to happen but I don't know what ???!!!!!
If you have ideas please, you're welcome !

Heyo
This is actually a really cool concept, road trip au's are like my favourite
A couple questions; are you intending to have the story take a dark turn? Like, someone they know could be kidnapped/murdered, and they accidentally find themselves on the run while solving the mystery? Get framed for some huge crime?
If you'd prefer the story stayed relatively light, then what about discovering some new species? Maybe they start a movement for cancer (think: Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope), or break a bunch of Guinness world records just for the hell of it? Accidentally become best friends with the president? One of them falls in love with the daughter of some traveling aristocrat and they go on a huge trip to follow them across the country and get the two together?

@Topaz~
Heyy !
Actually, I want to make something that breathes happiness so more like the Guinness world records stuff.
The story is already super sad and dark and the soon death of one of them is friendly reminded often enough.
In the first place they want to make something big. And so the idea of running away appears to be quite funny and new ( and risky ).
The biggest blocage for me is to find what kind of problems could occur, or yeah even what kind of incredible adventures they could live.
And you have to consider the fact that their parents ( and the police ) are after them and that they don't have a lot of money (they will surely camp a few nights (or more))

@blue_topaz

Okay that makes sense, sorry I tend to gravitate towards the dark and depressing.
Either way, good luck with your story, it sounds amazing!

I have a few simple ideas.
Maybe, despite it being a happier book, add in some real life dangers, such as the danger of kidnapping (like @Topaz said), and maybe even have the characters run out of money at one point and might even need to steal so they can be fed. Maybe one of the teenagers who started out all excited and rebellious turns out to be more sensitive and homesick and decides to return home?

@EveningPrimRose
It could actually be very interessant because one of them is perfectly the type of person that would totally freak out at some point.
And yes you're right I need to make it believable thanks !

How about driving across the country in the shortest amount of time known, to reach a landmark with sentimental value to the person with cancer. Also they could be in the desert and run out of gas, one could get ill (someone more stubborn or unhappy so they learn a valuable lesson about friendship) , you could also give one food allergies or someone who needs medication and has to find a new way to access it. Also you could include a hitchhiker (maybe a rude rebel they slowly become attached to) or someone (maybe an annoying younger brother) who sneaks away on the road trip and constantly causes mischief (eating all of the stored food).

@Allie
Yeahhh !!! I didn't think about a possible newcomer but that'd be great !
And yes I'm looking for the kind of problems that are the food and medication… to give some hardships lol running away from parents and feds has to be complicated
thanks !
