I have this plot I am working on for a book that will probably be called Fight or Flight. The world is based on these islands floating in the sky with powerful magic, and dragonkin(dragons and the creatures related, sea monsters, dinosaurs, giant serpents, etc.) live on these islands along with humans. Obviously, the humans domesticated the dragonkin, and now there are many trainers, riders, farmers, and hunters of dragons. The main character, Sashay, is one of the most famous dragonkin trainers and riders, and owns many pelt and resource farms. She is prepping for a dangerous sport named Dragon Wars, which is a little like capture the flag but with more blood and dragons. Anyway, so she meets this guy named Rohl Swy, and they develop a friendship. Later, Rohl tells her he is an escaped criminal who was accused of a crime he didn’t commit(don’t worry it’s not actually this cliche just bear with me) and asks her for protection from the authorities. By this time she’s begun to fal, in love with him a little, and he confesses feelings for her as well. So she accepts, saying that they can build a relationship while she protects him and tries to find a way to use her influence to clear his name. Time skip in book and the sequel, five years and they are married and she’s pregnant. Stuff happens that I’m to lazy to write out right now, she finds out he is actually a conman paid to trick her into starting a relationship so he could be a spy in her own home.
Now this plot still needs work, and if you find anything that could be fixed, improved, or added then please, please tell me.
I think what you have so far sounds really neat, and I don’t have many suggestions for improvements.
I do have this one story though that I really like but I don’t really know what I’m doing with it.
It takes place in modern day Vancouver, Canada. The main character is named Dallas, and one of his classmates has gone missing about a month before the first chapter of the story. She went missing at a party, which Dallas also attended but he doesn’t remember anything that happened that night. Pretty early on in the story Dallas winds up witnessing the death of the aforementioned classmate, but not before a) learning that he can read minds, and communicate telepathically with certain people b) learning that his classmate also has this ability c) meeting Andor who also has this ability and is pretty much telling all of this to Dallas as they’re trying to help his classmate get to safety (which they inevitably fail at doing). There’s a third character as well, Ara, who also has the same mind reading ability as all the other characters.
The idea is that everything is connected, but I’m really stuck on the “why” aspect. The original idea I had was that their powers were from some kind of illegal, unauthorized experiment but I can’t think of why someone would carry out such an experiment or why my characters would agree to go through with it. I also kinda toyed with the idea of some kind of secret organization, which could still work but everything I’ve come up with sounds like a Series of Unfortunate Events/ X-men cross over. I also was having troubles coming up with why such a group would exist, like I couldn’t come up with a good motive for them.
Basically, I have a beginning for my story but absolutely nothing else 😅 I’m open to any suggestion you guys may have.

The story I'm currently working on is basically a modern day fantasy type of thing. In the story, there's a civilization that have the ability to travel between universes, ultimately being called World-Walkers. it starts with three of the characters - Alex, Aidan and Sebastian (or ASS as I call them, lmao) - being told they are being sent to a small town on Earth called St. Aimes, a normal, basic American town, after a creature called a Night Stalker is seen trying to cross the void and into the town.
We then go to the main character, Oliver or Ollie. He attends school, blah blah but then ASS show up at school and ya know, as Ollie is very gay, starts to take a liking to Alex, though is too shy to say anything. A couple days later, Ollie is attacked by a Night Stalker, only for Alex to save him, thus resulting in ASS hanging around Ollie and his friends. Soon after, the mayor of the town is killed in 'uncertain circumstances.' The group of six have to investigate and more students go missing. We then get introduced to the main villain and there's some kidnapping, torture, traveling to distant universes and lots of gay. Yeah, that's basically the plot summed up.
