Hey guys! We're currently writing a musical titled Evangeline and we're stuck on an ending. The plot is basically the two main characters, Marianna and Evangeline, kill Evangeline's abusive boyfriend Beau and realize that they are fugitives. They escape to Florence where they meet a rich divorcee, London, who agrees to take them in. Blah blah blah, a bunch of stuff happens, but at the end, Marianna, London, and Evangeline have boyfriends and Marianna has changed her identity but we feel like there's something missing. A dramatic turn of events or something. Side note, Evangeline's boyfriend is named Holden, Marianna's is named Luca, and London's is named Dominic. Thanks y'all!!!

Yeah, not all the characters need a significant other at the end of a story. A fun dynamic to have in a character is them realizing that they don''t always need someone to complete them, and that they might just being happier on their own for a while. This is especially fun when the character this happens to has fears of being alone, not good enough, or just plain doesn't like to be single.

I agree with them…but I'd add that you could have the boyfriends find out about the murder. Or even better: London is Beau's estranged sister, and when she finds out about the murder, she wants revenge. Just an idea.

When I was first reading your post and I hadn't gotten to the part about the boyfriends yet, I was totally shipping Marianna and Evangeline: (hint: you might want to shorten at least one; they're both a bit of a mouthful, and quicker pet names will appeal to reads more than longer old-fashioned ones) I legitimately thought that they were going to run away together and fall in love. Enter the boyfriends. Hopes dashed. I'm not suggesting that you change your story at all, but I think that the whole "everyone finds their perfect match at the same time and ends up living happily ever after" is a little cliché. I would suggest making things a little more diverse since life is rarely ever as symmetrical as you're making it in this book.

Wait, wait I've got it. It turns out Marianna and Evangeline have a thing for each other (as suggested above) AND Holden and Luca have a thing for each other. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
