So I've mainly been focusing on world building right now, like what's the culture, what cities are there, species, etc. etc. So, story wise, what I have is a french teenager whose name is Genevieve, and she has Tourette Syndrome. She is a very distant reincarnation of a powerful witch named Morgan, and somehow somewhere, Genevieve manages to make it to the magical realm or something of Earth, and meets Grey Mooring, Morgan's old apprentice, that helps Genevieve hone her magic. Considering that Morgan was a very powerful witch in her time, some evil mages or something somehow find out about the reincarnate and try to kidnap Genevieve for her potential power for some evil deeds or something. As you can see, I need to figure out the motivations and how certain things happened and why, plus why Morgan's reincarnation took so long. Can anyone help me spitball some ideas to get the ball rolling? Any help is appreciated!

@Lupout

I’m SUPER intrigued. I’d love to help you brainstorm!
So one thing that jumps to mind, is that if the story takes place across different realms there could be a kind of time difference. Like in getting back normal earth she’ll sometimes miss weeks or find herself a few minutes back in time before she left, and this could explain the reincarnation issue. Like as soon as Morgan died in her realm she was reincarnated as Genevieve, but by the time Gen got to whatever age a lot more time had passed in Morgan’s realm than on earth.

Anyway that’s kind of a lot, and I can suggest more things or other things if you tell me a little more about where your plot is heading and stuff.

@ClayCreature

That's a pretty neat idea, thanks! The time difference would definitely make sense considering the different realms and all. Other issues considering Morgan is that I'm thinking the motivations of the 'evil mages' is that maybe Morgan isn't as good as most people thought? Like she was working on some secret plot, or that she did something bad enough to a certain group of people to motivate these 'evil' intentions. I don't necessarily want to go with the usual 'evil bad guys try to take over the world' scenario. But yeah I like the time difference idea, thank you for the suggestion!

@Lupout

Ooh love that. Like Grey could be training her to uphold Morgand’s legacy, and she just trusts him because right away, because he’s like a mentor and genuinely believes he’s doing good, but then she keeps getting attacked by people and the more she learns about what Morgan was doing the clearer it is that Morgan’s goal was like suppressing a group of people or something or something along those lines

@ClayCreature

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah that was kind of along the lines I was thinking of. Like maybe the 'bad guys' hunting down Genevieve for her power are actually doing so because they're afraid she'll have the same agenda as Morgan, because Genevieve is a reincarnation of her. Or something like that anyways.
