Heyo!
I’m a new notebook-er. I’m writing a story, and it’s about this universe. It’s called the Universe of Remains. Basically, this universe is powered by dead people’s bodies. Anybody who dies, their remains are sent to this universe. BUT. My main character is called Rosalyn Mondi, and her father, Quentin Mondi, is a famous scientist. He created this universe, but nobody knows. He was experimenting, and it went badly wrong. Now, human life is dependent on that universe - without it, humans will die.

Now, though, I’m not sure about it. I don’t know what Rosa is going to do, or what is actually going to happen. I mean, when the story starts, the universe has already been invented.

I’m thinking about scrapping all of this, and starting a new story, maybe something to do with magic. What does everyone think? Should I scrap it, or should I continue? And, if I continue, any idea for the plot?

By the way, I’m most likely going to scrap it.
Thanks!

Does Rosalyn know her father is the creator of the universe? Maybe she could try to destroy the universe or find another power source for it and it ends in a battle where she discovers he's her father?

Or Rosalyn could be an assassin who kills people to get more power for the universe.

I think that this idea is fantastic. It is unique and different. Think about what you want to read when you are writing. Yes, your readers are important to think about but if you are not interested in the story you are writing then what's the point in writing it then?

Just a suggestion Lya

Okay so I have an idea, but if you don't really like your story then you should definitely scrap it. It'll take way longer to write a book you're not so sure of and it will not be very fun. I'm a little confused about some of the things you said, so I'm just going to interpret it I may be wrong so sorry. Anyway, her father is a genius and as a young adult (like in his twenties maybe?) he creates a way to convert decomposing cadavers into power. I'm assuming there's a magic aspect because of how people then stop dying once they move to this Universe of Remains so sorry if it's purely scientific. Anyway, he figures out how to do this. Then maybe he has a friend who works with him and he tells his friend about this because he wants to power the whole universe with this new science. Also he has this girlfriend that he really likes but doesn't want her to know about his mad scientist life and she doesn't suspect anything. Okay, so he tells the friend, the friend says it's inhumane and tries to stop him. They have a magic fight in the experiment room/lab and somehow one of them strikes the chemicals used for the conversion. It explodes, killing the friend and shooting into the air, hitting a close by planet/universe. He is guilty and grief-stricken and decides to never tell anyone what he did but he keeps maintaining the universe and anonymously spreads the word so people start moving to this new Universe. Most of the population moves to the Universe of Remains including him. It's years later by now and his now wife is pregnant. He has a suspicion that the universe is becoming self aware, gaining a consciousness, and turning evil because of the dead souls and how his old friend turned vengeful. He leaves the planet to work on a new experiment that will stop people from dying, which will take away the power of the Universe and keep any more souls from strengthening the consciousness. Then experiment goes wrong and he kills the planet. Up until then he remains in contact with Rosa. Just before he expects that he'll die, he confesses everything to her. Then the old universe is completely killed, taking away all life on it and then spreads throughout space. The atmosphere on the Universe of Remains reverses the effect. People have to be sacrificed to keep the universe fed, but besides that no one dies anymore. Then the consciousness becomes fully developed and evil and tries to kill everyone in order to gain strength. Rosa has to keep people alive and stop it. I don't know if this is what you were looking for or if I got your facts right, but it's just an idea of a direction you could take your story in.

DONT SCRAP IT. KEEP IT IN DRAFTS OR HIDE IT AWAY BUT NEVER SCRAP IT. THAT IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE RISING AUTHORS MAKE. I'VE BEEN WRITING FOR A WHILE, AND SOME OF MY BIGGEST REGRETS INCLUDE SCRAPPING IDEAS ONLY TO HAVE A STROKE OF GENIUS A FEW WEEKS LATER OR TAKE PART OF THAT STORY (LIKE A CHARACTER, IDEA, OR CONVERSATION) AND INSERT IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.
