I'm creating a script where it's set in a world pretty much like ours but certain people have subtle abilities that could apply to real life. For example, I have a character who has the ability to cancel momentum so he can go from running full pelt to stopping immediately. Another character has the ability to sense a lie. The last example is of a character who is extremely convincing and can induce a feeling of Deja Vu (She can say you have met before at a country fair and you'll have a slight recollection of the event, even though it's a complete lie.)
However, I would really like to see everyone's input on this as it's actually a really fun idea.

  • The superpowers cannot be too obvious like flight or invisibility etc. I will list some more examples below:
    • mad spacial/geometric intelligence- brilliant at games like pool or pinball, and, when using a ranged weapon, able to plan ricochets with uncanny precision.
    • Contortionist and Incredible sense of balance.
    • Inert. A guy or gal who cannot be knocked over, ever. They cannot be wrestled or tackled. During an earthquake, he's completely still. No other power.
    • You can say two completely different sentences at the same time, and decide who within earshot hears which version. Whoever hears the first sentence will automatically believe it, and whoever hears the second will automatically disbelieve it.

Have fun xx

Really like the concept!
Here are a few more:

  • Telepathically communicate with inanimate objects
  • Regulate melatonin (the hormone needed to sleep) levels
  • Enhanced sense of smell. Can sniff out people with abilities
  • Able to envision all possible outcomes for the next hour or two after sneezing

Just a few that came to mind. Feel free to use any of them

What about using the common tropes, flying, invisibility etc, but reducing them dramatically. Someone is really light when being picked up, jump higher, can go unnoticed easily, sneaks around quietly, keeps ice cubes from melting and diluting beverages, can talk to woodlice, can always tell if someone is about to prank them or is coming around a corner, human compass, can see the stars in the day time, can detect accuracy of events/ statistics, gives the best baby names.
You could also borrow ideas from films like Mystery Men or MicMacs.
