My main character has to deal with the lost of her boyfriend and child. I was wondering if anybody had any tips on how to write her grief. She loses her child when the boyfriend is still alive so I could use help with both of their reactions. Thanks!
Different people handle loss differently. Some people get angry, some spiral into a pit of sadness, and some turn to unhealthy methods of trying to distract themselves. Examples of unhealthy– even fatal– ways that someone may deal with grief are turning to drugs, alcohol, etc. Depending on her personality, she may need support from other people, or she may go into seclusion. Maybe this causes her to have a fear of ever getting close to everyone again from losing her family. Really, how someone may handle grief varies between individuals, so there's no exact way to pinpoint how she's feeling given that only you know her full personality. These are just some ideas.
