Maybe it's still a little bit too early, but Camp NaNoWriMo is starting next month. I've already declared my project for this year, and I was wondering if anyone else was planning on participating? I was thinking we could get a writing group started if there was enough interest.

Here's what it says on the site:

Camp NaNoWriMo is a writing event that happens in April and July. It's different from NaNoWriMo in November because you can work on any type of creative project, not just a novel. First drafts or revision, scripts or stories or poems or essays—all are welcome! Just set a goal and get writing.

So, basically, it's kinda like NaNoWriMo but rather than trying to finish a novel in 1 month you can work on any kind of writing project. Last year for instance, instead of working on something new I just continued working on my Nanowrimo project from the previous year and I only had a word goal of 25,000.

Mine is a concept that I came up with a couple years ago. In a nutshell, it's about a guy who finds out he has telepathic powers and is trying to figure out how that's connected to the death of one of his classmates. I'm writing without an outline for the first time ever, so I'm only aiming for 30,000 words.
What about you?

@Oakiin

Ooh, I like! That sounds like a really cool idea :D I wish you luck, I'm sure you can do it!

I'm actually doing the same number of words for my goal. I'm trying to write the first book (chronologically) in my universe, which is the origin story for a character who shows up later on. They're a simple anti-social farmer child before their parents get killed by a group of military scientists gone rogue to test their neurotoxins.
Long story short, Dakota gets betrayed by everyone they know in every worst way possible, and eventually go live in the hills with their animals.

NaNoWriMo is a ton of fun, and almost addicting to finish that word goal. Gives me a taste of actually being an author. 10/10 would recommend but also understand that it’s not for everyone.

@Oakiin

Totally agree!! It's so satisfying to watch yourself pump out the words, especially if you've set yourself just a tiny bit of a challenging goal. Mine's 30k, and with how busy I am, I've really had to get myself to 1k words a day in under an hour.
how's your goal going?

@Starfast group

My goal was 30k as well. I ended up getting there just 4 days ago, but it was still really difficult. Normally writing 1k isn't really that hard for me, but since I didn't really know where I was going with the story it was a lot harder. I'm probably going to end cutting out big chunks of what I wrote when I go back to edit :/
We'll cross that bridge when we get to it though.
