I am planning on either using Latin or making up a language for the magical spells in my story… which should I do because part of me thinks latin sounds really cool but it's also overused I feel, and the other half of me want's to make a language for it cause that would be cool and unique but I am already making a language for my story and I don't want to take up more time also

Latin may be overused, but it's a good standby because, as you have probably figured out by now, it's really hard to make a language for spells. I personally don't actually tell my readers the words of my spells, but I tell them something like "Arcane syllables tumbled from his lips" or something like that. It's lame and a quick and dirty way, but I'm not creative enough to create my own arcane language

You can absolutely make a quick language if you want to get creative. If you're just doing it for magic spells, you don't have to suss out an entire conlang with grammar and syntax and such. Just decide on what kind of sound you want the language to have, make a few nouns, verbs, and adjectives relevant to your spells, figure out whether you want articles ("a" and "the"), and bam. New magical language.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to create my own language. :/ I was going to avoid it but the more and more I get into this the more I feel it needs its own. Latin is overused. I was going to name a God Vanity (Vanitas) and noticed after typing into the search engine how unoriginal and uninspired that was…
