The year is 2125. Superheroes and supervillains are just a normal part of everyday life. Some have powers, some don't. Every city has at least a handful of both, and they're always famous. The heroes are generally adored, and people pick and follow their favorites like sports teams or celebrities. The villains are hated and mocked, except by a few weird groups here and there that idolize the baddies– but we don't talk about those. Nobody does. Not even the villains acknowledge their existence. But, for the most part, nobody likes the villains. For every lovestruck teenage girl writing overly-romantic fanfictions about the heroes, there's a whole slew of them writing hate mail for the villains, detailing exactly how they'd like to see them suffer and die.
And trust me– those youngsters have some dark and gory imaginations.

One of the most famous villains in the country is Nightmare, who supposedly has the ability to create illusions based off of people's worst fears, teleport short distances, and manipulate shadows to an extent. He's been untouchable by most of the heroes and has actually killed a few. The media has attacked him a lot for these actions, and he's possibly the #1 hated person in the America. A lot of college students and high-schoolers are probably writing dark horror fictions about how they'd like to see him get mutilated.

For this RP, I want to do one of the following:

  • Maybe your character gets saved by Nightmare and begins to wonder if he's really a villain after all
  • Maybe your character hates Nightmare and wants him dead, so she goes after him and fun chaos ensues
  • Maybe your character is part of the aforementioned "weird group" that nobody talks about. You know, the ones who idolize villains? And maybe she is obsessed with him. Bonus points if she already likes him but he is low-key terrified of her and she keeps stalking him anyway. (This is actually hilarious in my mind just sayin')
  • Maybe your character is a civilian who accidentally captures him by whacking him over the head with a baseball bat or something, drags him back to her house, then is like "oh dang I killed a supervillain now what do I do" except he's not dead of course
  • ANYTHING else fun you can think of or what to do. These are just random ideas that popped into my head. #3 is my personal favorite, but whatever you like.

There are a lot of ways we can go with this, so however you want. I'd like for it to be romance– and a slow burn, at that.

Rules are simple.

  • No language. Use filler words like dang, crap, heck, etc. Absolutely no strong language. No exception.
  • No sex scenes. I mean, I'm hoping for romance, but sex scenes are unnecessary Now, other forms of affection… kissing, hugging, hand-holding, just about everything except for sex– I approve of and encourage. Just remember this is a slow burn, and I doubt either party is gonna be open to this at first.
  • VIOLENCE WELCOME. :D
  • MxF ship only please.
  • Try to post daily, but if you miss, no worries. ^-^
  • Please keep posts three lines at minimum. I mean, if you just really can't think of anything else, it's okay, but please try to not make them so short.
  • I reserve the right to decline if you ask to RP. Sorry friends.
  • Please give me a short example of your writing before we begin.

Characters:

  • If we want to do heroes, we can. They'll make for good antagonizing forces in the future.
  • The girl is your character. She is entirely up to you. Read my prompt ideas above, but make her the way you want. Anything will do nicely. I prefer she be over 18 just so Nightmare doesn't seem like a pedophile if they eventually get together.
  • Nightmare is my boy. I'll be posting a sign-up of him after someone shows interest.

Apologies for the vagueness of this outline. I slapped this together really quick. Feel free to ask questions. ^-^

@CasiCasino group

Hiyaaa~
I don’t think we’ve talked before but I found this randomly and thought that this might be interesting. Though, I do have a question or two if you don’t mind answering them.

  • Would it be okay if I made my character sort of like, you know, Nightmare’s arch nemesis? Like, a hero who’s always shown to be fighting him who ends up falling for him?

  • If I was allowed to join, any templates to fill?

Thanks
:D

(Also, if you need it now I can post a sample of my writing style -3-)

@Moriarty

Why, hello there!
In response to your first question: Yes. That is absolutely acceptable. I love that idea.
In response to your second question: I haven't created one yet, buuuuuuut, I can make one now, or you can make one. Frankly, I'm not too picky about that sort of thing, so it really just falls on how much information you like to start off with. Basics, like name, age, powers, etc. etc. etc. :3

As for your writing style– you can post that whenever you like, and it doesn't have to be super long. Just a lil' snippety snippet. ^-^
Thank you so much!

@CasiCasino group

Ah, good to know!

On the big screen within Serena’s office, some tables of experimental data were fully filled out. First one was of the Knight named Cassius, the other of a Knight named Sorsha.
”Cassius after receiving the ‘chemical’, as expected, showed less signs of reasonableness and as a result, showed aggression towards people crossing the lines between them and his family” Serena read the documents she had which was supported with the data presented on the big screen.
”Sorsha, on the other hand, was calmer when she got the ‘chemical’. She had been said to be more critical when it comes to her thinking process and doesn’t act as aggressively as she used to” the researcher stated, showing another image, one of the ‘chemical’ she talked about.

”Now, we need two more test subjects and I don’t really know who might be interested. You got any ideas?”

@Moriarty

Ah, yes. Thank you! This is very good. ^-^ I approve!
As for the template, would it be easier if I slapped one together for us, or would you prefer to?

@CasiCasino group

Thank you! (030)
If you don’t mind, could you do one? I’m gonna be offline for a little bit so I’ll be back again with a filled out template >:3

@Moriarty

Okiedokie! I'm going to be offline for a bit, too. It's 2:30 AM in my timezone, so if I were sane, I'd be in bed. Since I'm not sane, well… clearly I'm still wide awake. Nonetheless– yes. I shall absolutely get a template ready for us. Feel free to add or remove anything you like.

@CasiCasino group

Name: Evelyn “Lynn” Pirskul

Alias: Pastel

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Personality: Evelyn, in her heroine format, is usually calm, kept, and quiet. She’s usually the ‘ice queen’ type and very critical with her choices. However, when she’s in her everyday form, she’s the caring and cheerful sister-like figure. She likes to take care of people whether it be helping them with small chores, being there for them, or just spending quality time with someone.

Strengths: Evelyn is an independent person. Because of her abilities, she is able to work on her own without needing help from other people. She is also known to be quite adaptable towards new people. She isn’t easily scared by a lot of things which makes her quite the mentally strong person.

Weaknesses / Fears: Though not afraid of a lot of things, she is terrified of dark and enclosed places. She wouldn’t be able to act naturally in said places.

Brief backstory: Evelyn was always a friendly individual but upon taking the role of a heroine, she would need to hide that side of her and play a different one. She works alone as what would be known as a ‘rogue hero’ by the community, by that it means that she works alone and under no one’s affiliation. She discovered her abilities when she was eleven and it has helped her ever since. This year would mark her fifth year working as a hero.

Powers: Her ability—Artist’s Paradise—allows her to absorb wave lengths of colors and turn them to abilities based on the colors. What that means is that she doesn’t have a fixed ability but a variety of them depending on what color she absorbs. Examples would be…
Red — Fire Based
Light Blue / Cyan — Ice Based
Dark Blue / Navy — Water Based… etc.
However, she can’t control more than one color at a time and controlling one color consumes a lot of energy.

Physical appearance: Standing at 5’1”, Evelyn has straight dark brown hair decorated with her round heterochromic eyes; one of emerald green and one of sapphire blue. Her skin is healthily toned and give off a subtle aura. Her hairstyle represents that of a ponytail which goes down to her chest.

Outfit: In her hero form, she would wear a plain long-sleeved formal white shirt covered with a light gray cloth vest (her white shirt changes color depending on what color she’d touched last but it is naturally white). She would wear ankle-lengthened black jeans and a pair of white ballet flat shoes. She also wears a light gray baseball cap while allowing her ponytail to come from the back’s opening along with a scarf with the gradient of white to dark gray.

Gear / Weapon: Her primary weapons are a staff and a pistol. The staff is what she’s often represented with as it’s purely technology based and what her own creation. The pistol acts as a last resort. Both change their effects based on which color she’s controlling.

Other: She has two pet cats; one white Siamese cat named Kao and one amber Maine-Coon kitten named Topaz.

(Let me know if I need to change anything -^-)

@Moriarty

Ah, she is perfect! That's a creative choice of a superpower, and I love it. I'll have my guy up here in just a bit. ^-^

@Moriarty

Name: Ezekiel "Zeke" Nialls

Alias: Nightmare

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Personality: Ezekiel comes across as a dark and brooding force to be reckoned with. That's how the public views him. This couldn't be further from the truth. Sure, he's got a pretty dark train of thought, a lot of bitterness and hatred and all that jive, but underneath that, he's far more soft-hearted and fearful than he'd ever care to admit. Broken, quite frankly. The plight of humanity aches him– and his villainy is his own twisted way of trying to solve that. He has a lot of trust issues and internal damage from the way his life has gone, and he has intentionally distanced himself from most of humanity to focus on his "work"– which essentially consists of killing superheroes.

Strengths/skills: He is incredibly good at fighting and is quick in his movements, especially in hand-to-hand combat. He also has a strong willpower (generally speaking). He's usually level-headed and good at appearing calm or stoic when he's not.

Weaknesses/fears: He is actually afraid of a lot of things (though he'd never admit it), but especially feeling weak or overpowered. He's easily flustered and his fighting skills go down when he reaches high levels of stress because he's unable to focus. His powers, too, become weaker when he is blinded by rage or anxiety.

Brief backstory: Ezekiel's birth parents were abusive in more ways than one, and he was sent into foster care at the age of eight– though, a little to late to spare him from physical and emotional trauma. His foster years weren't much better. Though some of the parents were kind, he was always eventually taken from them and sent to a new home. As he grew older, he took note of all of the horrible things going on in the world– and how the heroes only did a halfway decent job of stopping it. It seemed to him that most heroes were heroes merely for the fame and glory of it all– and he hated them collectively for it. His powers began to form at the age of 13, at which age he was already fed up with the world, and hit the streets. Here, he got in with criminals and gangs that dragged him into much deeper messes than he ever signed up for. At the age of 18, he emerged under the alias of Nightmare and attacked a local hero. At this time, no one knew who he was– but three years later, when he killed a famous superhero during an important speech on live TV, he gained instant popularity. The bad kind, of course. Since then, he has killed multiple other heroes and has become an infamous force to be reckoned with.

Powers/abilities: He can create illusions based off of the fears of others. This is his main power, and his most feared. He is not telepathic, therefore he cannot read minds, but he can read fears. He knows what others are afraid of and can sense when they feel fear. However, strong-willed individuals do have the ability to break his illusions. After all, they are only illusions.
He can teleport for short distances, but this is only line-of-sight– meaning if he can't see it, he can't teleport there.
His last ability is mild shadow manipulation. This is more of a camouflage power than anything, because he can't physically hurt anyone with shadows– maybe just confuse them a little or plunge them into darkness.

Physical appearance: He's about 5'10 at the tallest. He doesn't have a very large build, but he's lean and toned well. His skin is fair– both naturally and because he doesn't spend a lot of time in the sun– and he has a blotchy birthmark on his neck, which extends down onto his right shoulder. His hair is jet black and has a slight curl to it, usually cut short, and his eyes are an odd yellow-gold color.

Outfit: His vesture consists mostly of black and dark-grey pieces, as he usually operates and night and this offers him the best cover. He wears thick combat boots, black pants (that are loose enough to allow for easy movement, mind you; he's not about to crush his manhood for the sake of wearing tights like some of the other heroes and villains do), a black sleeveless shirt, and black gloves. Over this, he generally wears a long trench-coat style jacket that hangs down well past the back of his knees and has a hood with weights stitched in the hem to keep it from falling down on him. Finally, he wears a mask over the lowerhalf of his face, a dark grey metallic mask fitted perfectly to the bridge of his nose.

Gear: He carries an extra set of gloves with hyper-suction technology so that he can scale the sides of buildings, throwing knives, and sometimes a long-range sniper on his back.

Other: That is all. :3

@Moriarty

Ah, thank you! ^^
I guess it depends on how we should begin. What do you think would be a good opening scene? Possibly them fighting? Or do you have any other suggestions?

@Moriarty

(Sorry for the roughness of this. ^^)

Nightmare was tired of heroes.
They were fake. All fake.
So many lies. So many facades. It was all a game to them. They claimed that they would save the world, but clearly the world was still a horrible place.
They were all just in it for the fame.
He didn't doubt that this one he was fighting with– Pastel, she called herself– was any different. Granted, she didn't work alongside the other heroes, and maybe she didn't seem quite as chintzy as they were when it came to presentation, but that didn't change anything as far as Zeke was concerned.
She was still a hero, and therefore a liar and impostor.
Which was why he would have no qualms with killing her today, as he planned to do.
It was late evening, as nighttime was the only time he really ever operated. He couldn't hide in the day, as there were less shadows to offer him their cover. Not to mention, that beaming sun was far too bright for him. It offered a false sense of warmth and hope and security.
Another lie.
There was none of that in the world anymore, either.
Zeke flipped a throwing knife from his hand nimbly and sent it spinning in her direction before pulling nearby shadows around himself. They clung to his form, making him appear as nothing more than a black silhouette himself, with only his bright yellow eyes to break through the darkness. Though it offered no real protection, it was something he did quite often during battles– though whether for the intimidation factor or just because he liked the way it felt was debatable.

@CasiCasino group

Barely dodging the knife, Lynn regained her posture quite quickly. Undoubtedly, she was afraid of what was happening but what could she do? She quickly eyed her surroundings, looking for something; a vibrant color she could absorb.
To no avail it seemed.
Around her was no more than pitch black with the exception of the villain’s eyes.
If this goes on any longer than five minutes, she will have to retreat. Her energy was depleting at an absurd rate though she had to stay calm.

Realizing the reality that the only option left was to use the tricks she had up her sleeves, she did so. Reaching her right hand quickly to her cap, absorbing its light grayish color, she created a metallic coverage on the floor and walls, before quickly—and forcefully—reaching to touch her scarf’s white parts, emitting a ray that reflected against the silverly surfaces and showed the position of the villain while also blinding him slightly.
If anything, she had to risk it. She slid forward and attempted to smack him with her staff… or so it seemed.

Using the end of her staff as a center point, she launched herself towards the opening of the alleyway…
”Are you alright?” she asked the group of children who she had spotted earlier and who were in fear.
Of course, she did not have her back turned to the villain in question but the children’s safety was her concern. Not long after, she persuaded them to leave before gathering up the courage to walk back into the alleyway. She had blood coming down the edges of her lips. Her limits were coming closer.
”You’re obviously going to kill me…” she said casually as she approached the man in black ”… though… I’m curious… what’s your motivation to become… a ‘villain’? At least… that’s what society calls you.”

@Moriarty

"Society calls a lot of people a lot of things," Zeke hissed in response, the shadows swirling around him. "Titles mean nothing. Just like your title of hero means nothing." The black cloud of a man vanished, the shadows around him fading like wisps of smoke– but he reappeared several feet closer to her, and the darkness immediately rushed to surround the form of their twisted master. Though, he kept his distance. His eyes were incredibly sensitive to light– which was why he could easily see in the dark– but that also made him more sensitive to bright reflections, such as the one she dared to blind him with moments before. Though he didn't show it, a few spots continued to dance across his vision. "As for my motivation," he growled, "I'm not going to monologue for you, if that's what you were hoping for. I'm not one of those villains. But… you were right." Though hidden by the shadows and his mask, a dark grin tugged at the corner of his mouth. "I am going to kill you."

@CasiCasino group

As much as Pastel would like to absorb another color, whatever it may be, she lacked the energy to. This villain
”Heheh… right…” she gave the villain a soft grin before falling on her knees. Though using her staff to keep herself up, she knew she couldn’t hold that position for long. She panted a bit, knowing her fate after this was going to be interesting to say the least.
Well, at least it was in the hands of the nocturnal infamous one so that’s something.
”Hey… if you’re gonna kill me… at least make my corpse memorable…” she looked up and gave the man a weak grin with her emerald eye closed. This was pathetic for a hero… but not for her. This was her choice after all.

(I do have something planned to get Lynn out but it will be quite… questionable… ._.)

@Moriarty

(Questionable things are good things. I like questionable.)

Zeke's eyes flashed with obvious surprise– maybe a bit of confusion– but his gaze quickly hardened into a glower. Something was up– had to be. No one ever surrendered like that. And her grin was really throwing him for a loop.
No matter.
He had a job to do.
"Oh. Well, then… So be it. Since you're dying with honor, I suppose the least I can do is give you a quick and respectable death."
The shadows around him scattered, disappearing like a burst of smoke to leave only his natural form– which looked every bit like an assassin, given the hood and mask and completely black attire. He drew a knife from his pocket and twisted it around in his hand a few times. "Last words?" he offered nonchalantly, though the wary look in his eyes was obvious.

@CasiCasino group

The magician nodded with an innocent smile.
”Watch your back—“ before she could finish, several chains of a silverly material came from the previously colored walls and pulled the villain’s wrists back, jerking the knife out of his hand as well. One of the chains wrapped around the assassin’s body and pulled him towards the dead end of the alleyway. Even though she couldn’t absorb any more colors, the leftovers of the old ones remained usable. She turned away from the man.
”Don’t worry… I can’t sustain them for long…” She turned back to face him to give him a small smile. ”Until we meet again, Nightmare,” with that, she walked out of the darkened alleyway and went somewhere unknown.

Soon after, perhaps five minutes after Pastel’s exit, the chains and the silverly effects on the walls disappeared.

@Moriarty

Even though Nightmare had expected something odd to happen, he was thoroughly unprepared for that. He yelped in surprise as the chain yanked him deeper into the alley. He twisted and trashed against the chains– which was a relatively useless attempt on his part. Teleporting from the grasp of something so tight wasn't much of an option, either, so he was out of luck as far as that was concerned. The feeling of being bound and defeated in itself was more stressful than the fact that she had gotten away– but, fortunately, his bindings did indeed vanish once she was gone, and he was able to freely teleport himself away from the place where he'd been chained and disappear off into the night. Though physically unharmed, this Pastel lady had officially sent his irritation levels through the roof, and he swore to himself that she wouldn't escape so easily again.

(Where do you think we should go next from here?)

@CasiCasino group

(Wonderful!)

After a long rest, Lynn woke up with her two cats beside her. Yawning, she made her way to the bathroom. She did her morning routines and was about to head out when she looked in the mirror one last time, seeing someone cloaked in pitch black behind her in the reflection. Blinking once, the figure disappeared.
She stared blankly at the mirror before turning to the door of her apartment.
”What the heck…” she murmured with a giggle, heading out with a blank portable canvas, its wooden stand, and her personal suitcase of art equipment.
If she wasn’t wrong, the person she saw was definitely him.

She travelled by bus to the more rural areas of town. Of course, she was giving out autographs and taking photos with a lot of people along the way before she finally came to where she wanted to visit; an abandoned village said to have burnt centuries back. Not a lot of people come here for good reasons, however, she wanted to get a landscape of the whole place so she came without researching much about this place.

She found a spot on a nearby ledge where she set everything down and started sketching the view.

@Moriarty

The night had passed for Zeke without sleep, but that wasn't out of the ordinary. He didn't sleep much nowadays due to the thoughts that haunted his mind when he tried to close his mind, but maybe nightmares were never meant to sleep in the first place.
Last night's lack of rest could be attributed to his current mission rather than an actual inability to sleep. He had spent it trying to determine the location and whereabouts of the hero he'd faced off with last night. After all, he hadn't appreciated that little stunt she pulled. Not one bit. And, not one to accept something so close to defeat that easily, he was determined to fight her again.
And this time he would not be so lenient.
Nor would he be so merciful.
It's not really that hard to find a hero. Even if she's not one of the more attention-hogging heroes, it still didn't take a lot to figure out where she would be. Not when everyone in the world is always talking about who they saw here or who they took a picture with there. He didn't have to be a tracker when everyone in the world posted every single thing on social media.
Stalking her would be a bit too easy, really.
In order to make his eyes less noticeable, he slid a pair of brown contacts over his golden irises, stuffed his suit into a backpack to take with him, and changed into relatively normal clothes. Dark jeans. Dark green t-shirt. Black jacket. Nobody would recognize his face, thankfully, because he always wore a mask when in operating as a "villain". What his exact plan was today, he had yet to decide, and attacking her in broad daylight would be far more difficult than a nighttime approach– but whatever worked. He could at least go pay her a visit, though she undoubtedly wouldn't recognize him.
Which meant he had the element of surprise.
Again– determining the direction she was headed was easy. A crap ton of teenage girls posted selfies of themselves with her on the bus all over the internet, so all Zeke had to do was find out which bus that was and which direction it was headed.
Once that was established, he went there himself.
Maybe she'd be gone by the time he got there.
Maybe she wouldn't.
Either way, he didn't have anything better to do today, and he wasn't about to miss an opportunity.
