In a totally creative twist on the story of Persephone and Hades, we find our characters in the future. In modern day Athens, Cerberus has escaped the Underworld and ran off, leaving Hades to find him before he can wreak havoc on the mortal realm. Only, he needn't have worried, because when he does find Cerberus, everything's fine. The large, three headed beast is getting belly rubs from a demigod, who is completely unaware of her divine parentage.

That's another main twist, lmao. Persephone is a demigod, still very much the daughter of Demeter, just with a human father.

Persephone was in a slight predicament. She'd been in the process of transplanting the young flowers into bigger pots in her father's plant nursery when something incredibly odd had happened. The sound of a commotion on the street had drawn her attention, and she had looked out the large front window of the nursery to spot a creature that definitely wasn't native to that area.

A large, three headed dog was making it's way down the street, stopping to eye the occasional terrified pedestrian. Blinking, she almost thought she was imagining things. But, no, it was really there. Pulling off her gloves and setting them on the rim of the pot she'd been filling with dirt, she slipped out of the shop, and towards the…dog. She placed her fingers in her mouth and let out a sharp whistle, drawing the dog's attention almost immediately. "Hey, here boy! Cm'ere!"

Hades mumbled to himself, driving the old mustang throughout the city. He was sure it was the right one, he'd been following reports of Ceberus since he had escaped. There should be another one, soon, if he knew his dog right. He turned on the radio to a news station, hoping for at least a clue.
"And on Nikolau Drive there is a very strange sighting! Watch out, drivers, for what appears to be a very large…three headed dog, if I do say so myself, is on the street. I feel ashamed even saying it, but it's true folks, I'm looking at it with my own eyes. Avoid the pass, if you will.
Hades nearly stopped the car, his black fringe flying in his face. Grumbling, but smiling, as the cars behind him honked, he made an illegal right turn, heading straight for Nikolau Drive.

The dog tilted it's head, studying Persephone curiously, before it hesitantly approached. She smiled up at the creature, shoving down the twinge of fear at the sheer size of the dog, and the peculiar number of heads. "Well hello there." She cooed, unaware of the calming power her voice carried.

It wasn't even three minutes later that the creature was on it's back, happily allowing a laughing Persephone to rub it's belly. "Who's a good boy? You are!" Her smile was bright as she rubbed it's belly, all previous apprehension gone completely.

The street was devoid of any life as Hades pulled up in his mustang convertible, the black gloss reflecting in the light. He opened the door and stepped out, sheilding himself and his pale skin from the sun with a hand.
Well, almost all life. There was the dog, for one - his dog - and then there was a girl playing with him. He couldn't quite pick her out in the sun, but walked towards her nevertheless.

Persephone noted the dog's ears perking up, and followed it's gaze to a man coming down the street. It was odd, to suddenly see someone on a street that had been empty, and something about him seemed…off. Otherworldly. And she was suddenly struck with memories of the myths her father liked to reference. Wait. Three headed dog? As in…oh, dear gods.

@bubblegum

(Does they know they're related to each other?)
Hades slipped on his sunglasses so as not to squint, and walked up to the girl and his dog. "Here, Ceb, big boy. Running away again, huh." He smiled a little as the dog ran up to him, and he ran his thumb along under his eye. "Looks like someone found you, huh?"

@croccin-champagne

((?))

Persephone stepped back to let the dog pass, managing to avoid being accidentally trampled. She studied the man curiously, if a tad warily. "He your…. dog?"

@bubblegum

(nvm)
"Yeah," Hades responded, looking the girl over. "How'd you find him?" He sniffed a little, running a hand through his black hair.

@croccin-champagne

"He was coming down the street." Persephone said, lifting one shoulder in a small shrug. There's no way. Right? "I came out and whistled, and he let me rub his belly."

@bubblegum

"Interesting. My boy Ceberus isn't usually that friendly. Right, boy?" He purred softly to the dog, scratching behind his ear lovingly.

@croccin-champagne

Cerberus huffed, almost as if in response. Persephone blinked, looking to the dog. Cerberus. Any chance this is some joke? "He seems plenty friendly to me."

@bubblegum

"Well, I suppose he can be. Doesn't come out much," Hades shrugged, holding out his hand. "My apologies, I forgot to introduce myself. The name's Hades."

@bubblegum

"Yes, like the god." Hades raised an eyebrow behind his sunglasses. He was the god, although he didn't expect her to know that. "And you are?"

@bubblegum

"Persephone. That's a nice name." Hades smiled a little, glancing around the space. "Looks like someone enjoys gardening." Well, she's pretty. Cute stranger.

@croccin-champagne

"Yeah. That's the nursery I work at." Persephone nodded, gesturing to the plant nursery/flower shop, a happy smile flickering onto her face. "You into gardening at all?"
