when a young shapeshifter finds themself in a dangerous predicament, a kind stranger rescues them - still in their animal state - and brings them to their home where they intend to take care of the creature.
The problem is, the shapeshifter has… well… taken a liking to the stranger. They intend to change back and confess their feelings, but that might go so well.

I'll probably be the shapeshifter if that's ok! Im cool with any type of pairings and i'll have a temp up once someone responds :)

Anna strolled through the park on her way home from work. The case had been exponentially difficult, and whenever she had a hard case, she preferred to take the longer, scenic route home to destress. Her heels clicked as she strode through the park, passing by the fountain. She sighed and sat on one of the benches, tucking her honey-colored hair behind her ear.

Ollie stretched atop his perch in the oak tree he called home, rubbing his face as the sunlight filtered through the thick leaves. Most would think it quite unconventional to sleep in a tree. Pitiful, even. Though when you consider yourself part animal, it becomes a normalcy to sleep in unconventional places.
Ollie looked down, examining the life below him and shuddering at the sight of people already walking around. It would take forever to find the privacy to shift today.
They scampered down the tree, about to find something equally unconventional for breakfast, when a raccoon decided to appear at that moment, hissing at Ollie’s desperate attempts to go about his day.
aw shit… the kinkajou thought starting to back away from the much larger creature

Anna, oblivious to the animalistic tension in the bushes behind her, slipped out her phone. A missed call. From Harry. She exhaled swiftly through her nose and – regretting it already – hit the button labeled "Call Back." The device rang a few times, and eventually, she heard Harry's voice.

"Hello, you've reached Harry Clayton. I can't take your call, but leave your name, number, and–"

Shaking her head, Anna hung up. She didn't know why she called him back. The endeavor was foolish. Her heart still loved him, but her head told her it was time to move on. It had been two months now, and she was young. It was time to find new, more interesting prospects than Harry.

Ollie, completely unaware of the relationship tension just beyond his squabble, was just trying to focus on not provoking the other creature. They continued backing away, their long tail twitching nervously.
But, despite Ollie’s completely harmless actions, the raccoon launched at him, sinking its teeth into the kinkajou’s back leg. Ollie had no choice but to swear like a sailor (which, to the human ear, sounded more like the screams of a tortured cat), trying to beat off the raccoon with the minimal strength he possessed.

Anna whipped around, her brown eyes catching sight of the animals fighting. "Oh my God!" she exclaimed. Without thinking, she stood up and rushed at the animals. "Scram!" she yelled trying to scare away the raccoon. "Go on, get out of here!"

The raccoon graciously complied, scampering off with a hiss as it disappeared into the rest of the brush.
Ollie was left dazed, petrified, and slightly wounded on the ragged ground, attempting to make sense of what just happened. The strange animal chittered, then looked up at Anna with a fearful expression, his intentions to go into the tree as quickly as possible.

Anna knelt beside the animal. She didn't recognize quite what it was, but that didn't matter. It was wounded, and Anna would help it recover. "Hello, little one," she murmured quietly. "You're hurt, aren't you? It's alright. I'm here, and I'll help you." She slipped off her jacket and laid it on the ground. Her hand gently patted the interior of the material, hopefully to coax the creature onto it so she could carry it back to her townhouse easier.

Ollie would have run away, rejecting again the attempts for humanity to befriend him, but he was hurt. And she seemed nice enough. It wouldn't be too bad to rest up a bit, especially away from the dangers he faced everyday. He timidly complied, shakily limping into the jacket and curled up into the warmth. He would possibly miss work… but he shook off the thought. At least he was safer now.

Once the animal was secured in her jacket, Anna bundled it up and hurried out of the park. "Don't worry," she murmured. "We're nearly there." She reached the door of her quaint little townhouse, put her key in the lock, and turned it so the dark door swung open. "Here we are. You're safe, little one."

Ollie almost drifted off in the arms of the stranger. It had been a while since he had met a human like this….
Once they entered her home, they poked their head out of the jacket, inspecting the room for any signs of… well, anything.
Ollie gently sniffed the air, deciding it was alright for him, then settled back into the jacket as he looked back up at the stranger. I can stay for a bit, I suppose. He thought. Besides, I'm not itching to shift anytime soon.

The layout of the townhouse was simple. The colors of nearly everything were white, beige, and dark blue. Anna headed for her living room and put her blazer down on the table. "There you go, little one," she murmured, gently unbundling the creature from her blazer so she could get a clearer view of it. "What exactly are you?"
