In an alternate dimension where the Library of Alexandria was never destroyed and so much knowledge was kept intact, the world became technologically advanced much faster than ours. Humans began playing around with dimensional energy, until, hundreds of years ago, magic and other unknown properties leaked into the Earth's atmosphere. Children began showing signs of their own magic, their own powers, and eventually, organizations meant to help these children harness their powers were created. The World Guard came into being, an international organization of magical humans (or 'superheroes', as they began to be called) with the purpose of protecting and serving the people. But along with them, a much darker order formed. The Phantom Alliance, a group of 'supervillains', and the counterpart of the World Guard. Over the years, they grew and gained power, and now, in the present-day city of Asomond, rumours of an uprising are beginning to spread.

Sienna’s POV

In the shadows of the city is where Sienna lurked, waiting to strike. She was hidden across the street from the bank, done up to look like a goddess. Her facial features obscured by a white mascarade mask, her hair done up in a bun with two white feathers sticking out of it, and of course her trademark white toga. All offsetting her darker skin as she stood, watching a man across the street.

His name is Richard Johnathan Simmons. The manager of the bank he was currently unlocking the doors to. He also happened to be fast asleep, following the instructions she had given him in a dream twenty minutes earlier. As soon as the doors were opened, she moved from her hiding spot, striding across the street and inside the building with unearthly grace.

Winston’s POV

Winston however, was quite the opposite. The 17 year old was a bit panicked about being sent on a mission so late at night. He flickered in and out of view, but remained a glowing outline at all times. He was brighter than the street lights, casting a golden glow up to ten feet in front of him as he nervously waited for Ae-Ri so the two could leave.

@ONLINE_ROBO

Alec was walking down the street when he glanced back over to the bank he was casing. At night it seemed like a peaceful place. He smiled. This time tomorrow he would be counting their money as his own. He was so pleased in fact, that he completely missed the pudgy banker opening the bank, but saw the woman in a toga. And who wouldn't, she didn't look like she belonged anywhere in the city. He watched as she entered the bank, and his smile grew, maybe he would be counting their money tonight. He pulled reached into his satchel and pulled out one of many metal scraps, this one used to be a part of an old carburetor, and made his way to the bank.

Opal trudged through the streets, making a 5 minute walk stretch into 30. She rounded a corner and felt a couple of very active minds. One is Winston. She realized, but before she could contact him she noticed four more. Two were farther off, but one was rough, and ragged, and more than a bit crazy. The other was smoother and softer, and felt like a dream, or an aura. She had never felt a mind like that. She barely even registered the fifth one. which was so little, it was almost like it was asleep.

@blue_topaz

Ae-Ri's POV:

The night air slipped over Ae-Ri's new, streamlined black suit, designed to blend in with the shadows. She made her way through alleyways and side streets, hopping from shadow to shadow, undetected even by the many night-walkers of the large city. Breathe, she told herself as she hurdled a chain-link fence, It's just a nocturnal mission. Pasithea was spotted heading towards the bank—this isn't a big deal. Don't keep Winston waiting.

Catching sight of a familiar glow up ahead, Ae-Ri ducked behind a stationed pickup truck and pressed a button on the side of her helmet to activate the communication system.

"Winston!" she whispered into the mic, "It's Ae-Ri, I'm behind the big red truck. Turn off your glow, Pasithea's going to catch sight of you."

Anthony's POV:

"Are superheroes always this slow?" Anthony muttered to himself, looking down on the bank from his vantage point. He began to pace the length of the bridge he was currently situated on, substantially annoyed at the tardiness of the so-called 'World Guard'. They should have sighted Pasithea ages ago, so why weren't they here yet? And why hadn't she grabbed the goddamn money and left?

"This is a waste of my time…" he growled under his breath, the exclamation causing the mass of bodies behind him to stir. His grotesques, although dim-witted an moronic, were attuned enough to his emotions to know when he was royally pissed off. "Just a few more minutes…."

Winston’s POV

Winnie jumped at the sound of his earpiece crackling to life, but relaxed a bit as he heard Ae-Ri’s familiar voice. “Sorry!” He whispered, fumbling to calm himself down and reduce the glow as much as he could. A faint golden outline still surrounded him, but it was considerably dimmer than before. Winnie crept over to the red truck to meet Ae-Ri, eager to have a companion in the darkness.

Sienna’s POV

Sienna swept through the bank, helping Richard when he stumbled and guiding him along. Things were going well. Perhaps too well, as the heroes Remedy needed to join up with had made no appearance. She stalled for another moment or too, but decided it wasn’t her problem, sheparding Richard towards the bank vault.

@blue_topaz

Ae-Ri’s POV

Ae-Ri released a slow sigh when she caught sight of Winston, beckoning to him with one hand. “Come here, Winn.” Though her voice retained its usual hard, flat quality, her movements were gentle as she placed both hands on either of his shoulders. “Relax. We can’t have you lighting up like a beacon. Focus on your breathing, alright? You’re going to do fine.”

Deleted user

Winston’s POV

“Sorry, A.” Winston took a deep, albeit shaky, breath. He looked down at Ae-Ri, grateful for her patience. “She’s a real criminal.” He mumbled, clearly stressed. The teen continued to try and even out his breathing, his skin flickering between it’s usual color and the dull red of the truck next to him.

@blue_topaz

Ae-Ri’s POV

“I know, I know,” she soothed, allowing her voice to soften ever-so-slightly—a rarity few had ever witnessed. “Hey, I tackled my first real villain when I was seventeen. Bank robbery, same as this. It went fine. But I need you to calm down and stop your glow, or Pasithea is going to get away with the money.”

@ONLINE_ROBO

Alec's POV

He was trying to be quiet, he really was, he was just bad at it. Following the pair ahead of him, he watched as they made their way to the vault. Looking round, it occurred to him that a bank at night was weird. When they got the vault he smiled, pulling out his bat, he thought back to his research of the bank. The police had a 5 minute response time. He smiled, thinking that he could work with that. He watched as the vault door swung open and let out a loud, maniacal laugh, and threw the now electrically charged scrap he had earlier grabbed at the nearest computer. The result was a small short that sounded the security system. He laughed as the banker startled, as if confused, and the lady in the toga stared at him with annoyance and anger in her eyes. And he kept laughing as he walked in to the vault and started putting money into his satchel.

Opals POV

The alarms from the bank reached her and brought her out of her mesmerized state. She immediately turned to run. It had to have been that crazy brained guy, she thought. Then she felt Winstons mind again and reached out. Winston, something happening! she relayed to him, perhaps a bit too 'loudly'.

Deleted user

Winston’s POV

“I… er—“ Winston bit down on his lip, unsure of how to explain himself. “It doesn’t shut off?” He offered, giving Ae-Ri a guilty look. “Ever?” He added unhelpfully, his hands clamming up nervously. He fell quiet for a moment, waiting for Ae-Ri to respond, when Opal’s voice yelled in his head.

Winston yelped loudly, covering his ears and ducking his head with a whimper. Opal? Quiet. Please. He projected the thought back, hoping she would understand.

Sienna’s POV

Fuck! The heroes were one thing, but this lunatic? Sienna was infuriated as she saw the nameless idiot spoil her perfect plans, but she now had bigger problems to deal with as Richard awoke with a start and the alarms began to wail. “W-What?! Where am I?! You’re real?” Sienna calmed herself, ignoring the roar of chaos around her. After a moment she looked up grabbing the man’s hands. For a moment her eyes turned a blazing gold. Richard slumped to the floor, unconscious. She dragged him out of harm’s way quickly, glaring at Alec the entire time.

@blue_topaz

Ae-Ri’s POV

Ae-Ri’s head snapped sideways at the sound of alarms blaring and panicked yelling. Was that…. a second villain beside Pasithea? Since when did she have a partner? “That’s our cue,” she muttered to Winston, sliding her throwing knives from the sheaths strapped to either of her thighs. “Alright, here’s the plan. I’m going to run in and provide a distraction while you grab the bags. I’ll handle cuffing the criminals, you take the money and get the bank manager to safety.”

With that, she started towards the imposing building.

Anthony’s POV:

“Finally….” A satisfied smile twisted Anthony’s lips beneath a plague doctor’s mask as he caught sight of a hero darting inside the bank. Beside him, a grotesque shifted, sensing his appeasement. A sharp glance sideways sent his pulse racing—Samuel has taken his place beside him.

No need to call him that… Anthony’s expression shifted into one of turmoil, regret. It’s a grotesque, not your little brother anymore.

@ONLINE_ROBO

Alec's POV

He smiled as he started piling the money into his satchel, but the girls eyes burrowing into his back. He turned around and gave her a little wave, then went back to stuffing money into the satchel. He didn't feel bad for ruining her plan, she was about to ruin his. His plan had been to hit the bank early the next morning. He started humming 'Driving Miss Daisy', and guessed that there was maybe 4 minutes left. Then some girl walked in and he jumped. She was a super, and she looked serious. He closed his satchel, and quietly tried to make his way to another exit. Unfortunately one of the piles of money he had not grabbed tripped him, and he fell on his face, making quite a ruckus.

Opals POV

She looked around, and tried to make her way towards him. Winston, there's some crazy idiot doing something, and alarms are going off. She went around a corner and lost track of him again, the once calm, mesmerizing, mind that had been there before was gone. Now it was mad, but somehow, it wasn't any less addicting to watch. And then it shifted to surprise.

Sienna’s POV

Sienna watched the chaos boil over as a hero burst into the room. A second, less menacing one followed, glowing so bright that it hurt her eyes to look directly at him. Without hesitation, she slipped out the back exit and fled into the night, knowing she would find safety under the cover of darkness. Although the alliance wouldn’t be happy, they had to understand the cause of te chaos was not her fault.

Winston’s POV

Winnie ran after Ae-Ri, panicked as Opal continued to fill him in on the situation. By the time he entered the bank, electricity was sparking off the computers and loud alarms made his ears ring. He backed into a desk and let out a cry as an arc of electricity sent a burning sensation pulsing up his arm and leaving him violently shaking.

@blue_topaz

Ae-Ri’s POV

Ae-Ri caught sight of Pasithea fleeing through a back exit. A curse flew from her lips—they had been so close to catching her. But an all too familiar cry diverted her attention from the second villain, the one who had the money.

Winston.

The urge to run and help him was almost overpowering. She stood her ground, instead sending a small dragonfly drone after him with a flick of her fingers. A screen flickered to life within the glass visor covering her face; a camera of sorts, so she could see from the drone’s eyes.

Winnie can take care of himself. You cannot mother him on this mission, you both have a job to do. He knows what he needs to get done, and so do you.

Satisfied with the mental reprimand, Ae-Ri shook herself and reached out with her powers. Once she had a firm hold on the second criminal’s mind, she squeezed, twisted, contorted his view of reality until the illusion of total darkness filled his ear, visible only to him.

@ONLINE_ROBO

Alec's POV
Alec quickly recovered himself and jumped away from area where he had hit his face. Rubbing his nose he looked over to the girl and the boy. The boy beside her was practically a glow stick, and looked like he had just been shocked by one of the computers. That brought a smile to his lips. Then the world went dark. "Hey, who turned out the lights?!" He shouted as he stuck his hand into his satchel, he felt around for some of the larger pieces. He lifted his bat, and fidgeted with it. The lady-super looked kind of scary, and if she did this he was going to have to think to get out of this one, but when was thinking ever his strong suit. He quickly threw the now electrified pieces of scrap into the last place he saw them and bolted for the last place he thought the door was.

Opals POV
Opal ran quickly over to where she had felt Winston's mind last, and grumbled as she realized she was heading towards the bank. She gasped as she came in front of the bank. The whole building was imposing, even without a criminal. She felt out and felt the crazy guys mind kick into overdrive. The other one was gone, replaced by two others. Winnie's and Ae-Ri's, then there was another one that was full of fear wondering if anyone was going to notice he had wet his pants(the bank manager).

@blue_topaz

Ae-Ri’s POV

Ae-Ri dodged a few pieces of electrified metal and sprang after the fleeing villain. She swiped a leg beneath his feet, causing him to tumble to the ground as she yelled to Winston. “Firefly! Get the manager out of here!”

Wrestling the money-laden bags from the strange criminal’s grip, she tossed them towards her younger friend and reached for her handcuffs.

Deleted user

Winston’s POV

Winston bit back a whimper, his arm now red and blistering form the harsh shock he had received. He nodded at Ae-Ri, holding his injured arm close to his chest as he guided the manager to his feet. Both of them looked equally terrified for different reasons. The man fled outside to wait for the police, leaving Winston free to drag the bags of money back into the vault, trying to hide the tears rolling down his cheeks.

@ONLINE_ROBO

Alec's POV
Alec could hardly hold in his laughter, this hero had just made her first mistake. He reached out to where he had felt her leg trip him, and reached for it. He felt her leg and wrapped his fingers wrap around it. He sent a shock through her, not enough to kill, but hopefully enough to knock her out. Then he made a mad scramble for the door.

Opals POV
Opal started to feel the air around her thicken, then she realized it wasn't the air. It was the brain activity in the area, it seemed over-filled with broken minds. She reached out for Winston again, but then stopped. There was another mind. And it was sharp, and strong, and intimidating.

@blue_topaz

Ae-Ri’s POV

She cried out, jolting backwards as an electric shock exploded through her leg. The cuffs dropped from her hands and went skittering across the floor.

”No, no, no,” Ae-Ri hissed, battling back the unconsciousness that her excruciating pain was bringing on. “Firefly?” she called weakly, somehow managing to stagger to her feet. Never, in all the villains she had studied, had she every heard of an electricity-wielding maniac with this much power. Never, in a whole year of training with the Guard, had she been brought down this easily.

Anthony’s POV

“That’s our cue~” the healer hummed, already at the bottom of the bridge, where the bank had been built. Thankful for the mask obscuring his expression from view, he began to make his way towards the doors, timing his entrance so that his path would cross with the weakling heroes’ once they left the building.

Deleted user

Winston’s POV

“Mirage!” Winston panicked, stumbling out of the vault and rushing over to Ae-Ri’s side. He supported her with his uninjured arm, letting out a soft, fretful whimper. He yelled for Opal in his head, praying the girl was somehow still listening for him. Please, Opal! If you’re listening, get to the bank! Things went bad. We’re hurt!

@blue_topaz

Ae-Ri’s POV

Ae-Ri did her best to support her own weight, thankful for the tinted visor that blocked her pained expression from Winston’s view. “Are you okay?” she whispered, her strained voice the only sign of the intense burning sensation in her leg. They limped unsteadily towards the door, but once they were outside of the bank and surrounded by the cool night air, the hero nearly screamed.

Anthony’s POV

There.

The two dimwits exited the bank in the same instant that Anthony rushed forwards, concealing a cruel grin behind his beaked mask. “What happened in there?” he demanded in his most convincing British accent, sending the four grotesques he’d brought along with him off to the side with a flick of his finger. “Are you two hurt?”

@ONLINE_ROBO

Opal's POV
Opal was rooted into the spot as she felt the presence grew stronger. She had heard Winston cry out for her, but couldn't move. She watched as they limped out the door. She walked slowly them. She tried to telling them what she had sensed, but before she could say anything someone spoke behind her, and heavy footsteps started towards them.

Alec's POV
Alec could see his vision clearing up and smiled. That meant that they weren't going to pursue him. He ducked into an alley to check if that girl had taken all of his loot. Fortunately, she hadn't, but unfortunately, all she had left him was a dollar. He sighed, "Well, there's always next time." He used it to by a soda on the way to the warehouse he called home.
