He prepared him a plate of eggs, bacon, two sausages, and toast, hoping it would be enough to fill him up. He poured him a glass of orange juice and set them down at the table.
He stood up, starting to get anxious. "Sorin?" He called out again.
He walked over to the bottom of the stairs. "Yes? Cas, is something wrong?"
"Nothing, I just… didn't know where you were…" Cas made his way down the stairs and hugged Sorin once he was level with him.
He hugged him by the waist. "Did you sleep alright?"
"Mhmm." Cas lifted his nose into the air and closed his eyes for a second. "I smell food. What is it?"
"Take a look for yourself," Sorin held his hand and walked him to the table, pulling a chair out for him to sit down.
Cas sat and examined the food, soon picking up a piece of bacon to gnaw on. "It's good."
"Really?" Sorin took his plate and sat next to him. "You're not lying to me to make me feel good…right?"
"Why would I? I try to be honest with you." Cas finished his strip of bacon and picked up another.
His eyes narrowed at him as he chewed on a strip of bacon. "Okay, I believe you."
"…Sor, why would I lie about bacon?" He broke off half the strip with his teeth.
"To protect my feelings?" He set down the bacon and took a bite out of his eggs and toast.
"It's just bacon, Sorin." Cas finished his second strip and got some eggs.
He took a sip of his orange juice. "Well yeah, I know that."
Cas got a piece of toast as well and nibbled on it, watching Sorin. "The other food is good too."
"Thank you," he stabbed the rest of his eggs, along with the two sausages on his plate, and ate it.
Cas took a while to finish his toast and ate the eggs after that. "Well, thanks for the breakfast… we going anywhere today?"
"The mall…and maybe the movies if you'd like…"
"What're we going to the mall for?"
"To buy you new things," he finished the rest of his breakfast and stood up to put it in the sink. "And after the movies, there's a fair that opens every year at the start of fall that i'd like to take you to." Sorin sat back down next to him.
"Ooh, fun!" Cas grinned. "The fair more than the shopping, but still fun." He got up as well and stretched, yawning widely.
"Yeah, well, we'll do all that stuff after we go through your reading lesson," He pointed to his plate, "Are you finished with that? Or do you want to eat the rest."
Cas groaned. "Ugh… reading's hard, though… and yeah, I'm done."
He picked up his plate and tossed the rest of his food in the trash. "It gets easier the more you practice it," He opened the faucet and washed both their plates. "Besides, you're going to be doing a lot of that in high school."
"I'm gonna get bullied, you know. I'm a neko and I can't read or write particularly well, and not to mention, I'm gay as hell." Cas leaned against the counter. "How come you're not in high school?"
"Oh come on, if anyone messes with you, you can always come to me, and as for your question… Heaven's already taught me everything human teenagers learn. It would be pointless going there if I already know everything. Besides," he turned off the faucet and wiped his hands. "I'm not a people person."
Cas rolled his eyes. "So, basically, your intellect already far exceeds that of the average person, as you are a superior being?" He asked rhetorically, his voice laced with sarcasm. "I'm surprised you're okay with me going considering how overprotective you are."
"Overprotective?" Sorin crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow at him. "How so?"
"Well, whenever we hear noises I'm not allowed to move, you panicked when I fell a few feet from a tree, you're going crazy about the little ice chip in my arm, and… basically you just freak out whenever I get a little scrape." Cas looked up at Sorin, crossing his arms as well. "I've lived on the streets for three years. Major injuries I understand, but I can handle a small fall from a tree."
