Nico's fist pounded on the door desperately. I only took about 20 seconds till Josh hauled himself of his ass to open it,
"Nicky-"
"We ned to talk; wheres your phone."
He let himself in and began to rummage around the small motel room.
Evan hurried in a little after Nico was let in, watching the other in confusion.
He felt a little out of place too. It was like he was intruding upon family business he really wasn’t supposed to even know about.
It made him shift awkwardly in the doorway, not daring to go any further into the apartment.
"Uh, come in, I guess…"
Josh turned back to gesture Evan in,
"Aha!"
Nico pulled a phone that looked straight out of 2005 from a pile of clothes. He started fiddling with the buttons aimlessly,
"Oi- how does this work??"
Evan rubbed at the back of his neck, nervously stepping in. “Am I intruding?” He asked quietly, watching Nico carefully.
Josh shook his head,
"Nah, don't worry 'bout it."
He snatched the phone from Nicos boney fingers, cursing him out,
"What's this about, anyway?"
"Eleanor."
Evan stepped inside, shutting the door and looking around the motel room.
He hadn’t seen the inside of the place seeing as he lived in his apartment with Nico.
His fell back on Josh and Nico, curiosity getting the better of him.
Josh hesitated,
"…What about her."
"Did she die?"
Josh choked, not sure how to respond.
Evan folded his arms and laid back against a wall, his eyes narrowing as he waited for an answer.
If she did die then they had someone impersonating her.
But if she didn’t…
That was a whole new set of problems.
"W-well-" Josh swallowed, composing himself,
"I dont know, kid. I wasn't there."
“Nico recalls an amber alert.” Evan spoke up, raising an eyebrow.
“If she was kidnapped it’d be better to tell Nico. If you know anything, tell him.”
Josh open and closed his mouth, as if he were a cod-fish,
"I don't know, honestly. Maybe look it up, type her name into google or something? I don't know, man. I moved away to avoid this shit."
Evan lit up, pulling his phone from his pocket. “That’s right! Google!! What was her name? I’ll look it up!”
"Her names Eleanor Dolion"
Nico got on his tippy toes and placed his chin on Evans shoulder, looking at his phone screen.
Evan ignored the slight blush that came to his face and typed in the name, leaning his head a little bit on Nico’s.
He tilted his screen a little more so Nico could see more.
"Ah, that one! Click that one!"
Nico snatched the phone from Evans hands, and before Josh had a chance to stop him, all the colour drained from his face.
"Holy shit."
Evan blinked in surprise when he found his phone to no longer be in his hands. He laughed softly, choosing to instead take his place by Nico’s side, looking over his shoulder and reading what he could.
“Oh.”
"THATS HER- THATS-"
"Give!"
Josh took the phone from his hands,
"Whats going on? You just storm into my room, start interrogating me about something id have no clue about, then start throwing my phone around! Why are you so set on Eleanor, you where so sure she was dead yesterday!"
Evan placed a hand on Nico’s shoulder, looking at Josh in confusion.
“Don’t you want to know what happened? Nico went years believing she died.”
"I know that-" Josh sputtered,
"Just- what made you change your mind so eagerly??"
"I got a phone call."
Nicos eyes remained trained on Joshes face, watching it contort into multiple different emotions.
An idea suddenly popped into his head. Evan lit up.
"Hey, Nico? Can you see who's called you last? Can you do that too Josh? You two could compare the numbers and see if its the same person. Josh said he had someone calling him too, right? Can you guys compare the two numbers and if its the same one then we might have a lead/"
They both whipped out their phones simultaneously. It only took a few seconds before they were in each others personal bubble, scanning the numbers on there screen,
"0418 485 343" Josh stated
"0418 485 343" Nico repeated flawlessly, holding up his screen.
He turned to Evan,
"It's a +61 number, do you know where that's from?"
Evan beamed proudly at himself, happy to have made the connection.
"A +61? Australia isn't it? Didn't you say it was from somewhere there?" He asked, biting his lip. "But I'm not sure. I'm no good at country codes."
"I don't know, maybe," he turned to his brother, expectantly.
"I don't know! I haven't been here!"
"Do we have family overseas?"
"Probably-"
"To Facebook!!"
Nico sprinted out the door,
"You two coming??"
He freed Milo from his spot in the side gate and ran to the car, the massive door stumbling after him.
Evan grinned brightly, following after Nico with a laugh and a cry of surprise when he saw the dog.
He really did like dogs.
“Of course I’m coming.”
(Wait- thats so cute eye-)
