Am I all caught up on my rps so I'm making another one? Possibly. Also, I'm a little obsessed with the song Soldier, Poet, King by The Oh Hellos so I wanna do an rp loosely based on it.

The soldier. The soldier is the king's right hand man, the sword, the blade. All the king must do is give an order and the soldier follows it out. Whether it's fulfilling an execution or leading their army to war. The soldier does it all. The soldier is stoic and by the book. They don't play around. They are serious, fierce, and quite terrifying. Most people shy away from them. Just the sound of hearing the soldier approach has most people scattering.
The poet. The poet is a bard who has never taken things quite so seriously. Her whole purpose is to slew out lyrics that either make fun of something or someone, or a ballad to make someone seem more important than they actually are. She'll do just about anything for coin. When you're constantly on the road and have nowhere to call home, no money to your name, it's a little bit easier to degrade yourself in such a manner. It's not all so bad. With a voice like the angels, lords and ladies of all statues have invited her to sing at their homes, their parties, their events. It's good coin and good publicity.
The king. The king is doing everything in their power to hold this country together. It's falling apart at their hands. Trades failing, uprisings starting. The kingdom had been failing long before it had fallen into their hands, but the king is the one having to deal with the fallout. They are the one getting blamed for all of this, when really, they were just the unlucky one to inherit this failing kingdom. Even with the soldier at their side, every day their resolve weakens.

In an attempt to tie the lords and ladies of the country together, the king throws a banquet as a last resort. Men and women had traveled from all over the country to come feast with the king and hash out any issues and problems in their respective cities. Many of them had a bone to pick with the king. And many of them hated the king and would do anything to see them removed. The soldier would be glued to the king's side all night and day, until the lords and ladies had departed. The soldier didn't trust that one of them would attempt an assassination on the king.
The king knew of the risks and held the feast anyway. They needed the people to see that they were trying. They needed results to happen, not just endless bickering that would result in nothing accomplished. The first step would be to win over as many of lords and ladies visiting. And that started with a feast and entertainment.
The king had heard rumors of the poet's talents and hired her to come perform at their feast in front of all the lords. It was an honor for the poet to perform for the king, and invitation she really couldn't deny, even with her mixed views of the king. So she prepared for the feast.
Only it didn't quite go as planned, and a simple song ended up summoning a vengeful god and a quest for the soldier, the poet, and the king to fulfill, or else the kingdom would be thrown into ruin.

So do I have this completely hashed out? No I do not. I'll be making it up as we go. But it will be fun, I think, so you should give it a try.

The Soldier- @RhysTheFirebird
The Poet- me
The King- @phantomflame

Rating: like PG 18 for strong language and more graphic scenes, ish
Rules:

  • be nice ooc obviously
  • no god modding. Everyone can get hurt and I'll step in and injure you if I think it's too much
  • please try to be active as much as possible. As this is a small group, it's hard to progress if someone isn't on often
  • please write at least a paragraph but the more the merrier. It's hard to respond to such small responses

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

(I know I'm not caught up in our rps…but can I join this with you?)

(Hey friend, looking for folks who are a little more active, with a slightly different style for this one. Sorry :/ I eagerly await your response to the rps we do have, though!)

(This sounds super interesting, would I be able to join as well?)

(Would you be able to provide a small writing sample?)

(Of course! I'll have one up in a minute)

(This is from an older rp I was a part of):

Caspian had chosen a spot to sit near the back of the courtyard, his sea-grey eyes staring out thoughtfully at the crowd of students surrounding him. When you got past the loneliness, being an outsider was almost enjoyable; you have the ability to see people being themselves, socializing, and at ease, and you don't have to worry about making things awkward or having to do any of the socializing yourself. There was something almost peaceful about merely being an observer.

Cas subconsciously fiddled with the silver necklace around his neck, finding the familiar smooth texture of the pearl secured inside of it soothing. Being out here surrounded by other people wasn't so bad, but meeting his roommate would be a different story. He had no idea who it would be, given that this was his first year here. Having to be in such close proximity to another person almost every day kind of ruined Caspian's plan of just getting through the school year without talking to anyone.
Maybe that's why Mom and Dad sent me here, he thought, not putting it past his parents to gladly seize any opportunity they could find to attempt to have their only son make friends. He knew that they had good intentions, but he didn't see the problem with being a loner again. It was the same in every school he had ever attended, so why should this one be any different?

He fidgeted in his seat slightly, frowning at his school uniform. It wasn't the worst thing to wear, but it was an unpleasant contrast from his usual attire of soft, comfortable hoodies and sweatpants. Nevermore would definitely be an adjustment.

Cas watched with wonder and a healthy amount of dread as more students poured into the courtyard, although he noticed with some mild amusement and relief that the seat next to him was still empty. He adjusted the glasses on his face that were sliding down on his nose a bit with a sigh. He knew he needed a new pair soon, he just hadn't gotten around to reminding his parents about it. Still mindlessly fidgeting with the necklace, he continued to look around at the other students. Even if he had very little hope of interacting with any of them, it was still good to start memorizing faces, and a small, traitorous part of him held onto the belief that this year could be the year he actually made a friend. Cas was doubtful, but still…maybe this school was different than the others.

(I'm sorry that it's a little long but hopefully my style of writing is what you were looking for :))

(May I? I swear I’m working on a response to our other one)

(honey you're barely on can you swear to me that you will be on daily and reply as often as possible or else I will use my elder godness to smite you)

@RhysTheFirebird group

(I am on daily- I’ve been making replies to some other things everyday. I just completely forgot about our other one. I have a bad habit of reading it and getting distracted and then doing something else. But I’m working on it. Promise)
