The woman filled up three more bowls and slid them on the table.
"Eat up, boys. You have quite a journey ahead of you, don't you?"
Her granddaughter looked up. "Wait, where are you going, Felix?"
He gave a halfhearted smile as he sat at the table. "I don't know. Just not here. Far away."

Felix gave Eclipse a motion to sit down next to him, giving him a bright, warm smile. He pushed one of the untouched bowls over to his spot and placed a spoon next to it.

Felix ate fairly quickly, finishing before his host had. She looked over at him and smiled slightly.
"Would you like any more, dear?" she asked, then turned to Eclipse, "And you can have seconds too, if you'd like. You only need ask."
Felix shook his head. "I think I'm fine. Thank you. I… I really appreciate all you've done for me. Just this visit alone, and of course, over the years. It's going to be difficult not having you to rely on, but hopefully I can get a more upstanding job and won't have to worry so much about that."

"Alright, then. I've been happy to have you two over, even if it doesn't seem to be in the best of times. I hope our paths do cross again someday, but if not, well… just remember me, alright?" Thyra smiled.
Felix tried to smile back, but his expression was kind of sad. He was leaving everything he had ever known now. Not that it was the most savory past, but there were pieces of it that he would miss.
"Yeah… I'll miss you a lot. I can guarantee that."

Eclipse couldn't help feeling like this was his fault. He couldn't help thinking that if he'd just finished the job that night Felix wouldn't have gotten hurt or had to leave his friends behind…

"Well, it was inevitable," Felix sighed, "I knew I'd have to leave once my lifestyle changed. Hey- uh… Eclipse, I'm ready to go whenever you are. I just need to grab my things."

Felix got up and thanked Thyra one more time. She stopped him before he left.
"Don't forget the elixir and salve," she reminded him.
Felix nodded then headed to the other room to gather his things.

Thyra smiled. "Of course, dear. Safe travels to you two."

Felix slipped the jar of salve into his bad and carefully sat the jug of elixir near it, along with the note Thyra left on it. He made sure all of his weapons and supplies were in order, then went to put on his shoes.

Felix lead the way towards the stables and started a conversation with the merchant who worked there.
"I would like to buy two horses and a cart," he requested, once he was up to the counter in the small building.
"Draft horses?"
He looked at Eclipse. Neither of them was very heavy.
"Something medium-sized. Doesn't have to be a draft horse. A smaller cart will do as well."
"Alright, come out back with me to take what you need, and I'll take payment once you've chosen."

Felix picked a cart big enough for them both to lie down in, and with a bit of recommendation, picked two stallions to pull the cart: one a chestnut color and the other a light gray. After getting the price, Felix dug up some gold coins and paid up.
The man helped them hitch the horses up to the cart, then returned to his storefront.
"Alright, we're out," Felix muttered to Eclipse, "I know a good route to take out of here. We should be pretty safe."

@Becfromthedead group

"Oh, right. The horses."
Felix approached each one carefully from the side, then walked around in front of them, making eye contact.
"He's a friend. You'll be safe around him," Felix assured the two animals, "Besides, he'll probably spend most of his time in the cart and you won't have to worry about riding much, if at all. You guys have seen half-wolves before, I'm sure. They're not like regular wolves, and they won't hurt you, okay?"
It sounded like he was talking to two children. He had taken on a very soothing tone and was stroking each horse's muzzle as he spoke.

Felix walked away and got up into the cart at the front, ready to go. He still had little green wisps of magic around his hands and throat that were fading by the second.

@Becfromthedead group

"Alright, now we're off," Felix told the horses, "I'll give you directions as we go. We won't be needing a whip or any of that since I can just talk to you instead."
He was only perched up at the front so he could see what was going on ahead of them.

Luckily, the stables sat at one of the outer edges of the town, and they were able to make a quiet escape. Felix kept a vigilant eye on the town around them, making sure nothing would threaten them. He noticed some unrest in the direction of the tavern that he'd been to the previous day, and while it made him nervous, he could only hope they wouldn't trace it back to him so easily. Except they totally could if he didn't get out now.
