"I had a dream that these monsters came. I was hoping it would be a nightmare, not a prophecy."

Laurel had been having some strange dreams lately, filled with shadowy monsters with white smiles and sharp claws– and a beautiful person as well, but she didn't really dwell on that. She had put it down to an overactive imagination and too many horror novels before bed. But then she meets that beautiful person from her dreams– and the monsters appear in her town. In order to banish the monsters to their own world, Laurel must team up with the person from her dreams and find a magical crown. Supposedly, it can grant someone the power to defeat the Shadow King, a sorcerer who unleashed the monsters upon Laurel's world. It will be a difficult journey, but Laurel is determined to succeed.

Rules and Stuff!

  • All of andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules apply!

  • So basically, you would be the 'beautiful person' and I would be Laurel.

  • There can be romance in this you want– I don't really care– but it wouldn't be the main story.

  • The characters probably wouldn't have any sort of magical abilities unless they found an item that gives powers to them, so… try to keep them a normal human. (I'll probably shove some magical items in your hands at some point, so don't worry. :)

  • Please try and answer consistently. If something comes up in your life, just tell me! I'll totally understand.

  • Please spell words correctly and have proper grammar! A few mistakes are fine, though (we all do them).

  • I'd like to only know what your character looks like and what their name is, so I'll only be posting a physical description of Laurel if someone joins.

  • If you have any questions, just ask me!

(Ah, I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to it. You know, sure! Let there be romance! My girl is bi, by the way. :)

(Alright, here's my girl!)
Name: Laurel Ash
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Light blonde hair in a pixie cut, green eyes. Freckles along the bridge of her nose. 5'7" tall, olive skin. Usually wear a t-shirt and comfy jeans.
Other: She loves reading and is generally really open-minded about a lot of things.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Name: Analaya "Ana" Hart
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Ana is beautiful. She has long brown hair, usually kept up in a braid over her shoulder. She has delicate features, almost like a doll, and high cheekbones. She has large brown eyes with flecks of gold and green in them, and are constantly sparkling with mischief. She has olive skin, a warm caramel-y color. She has a few freckles on her nose and cheeks, but they aren't very noticable. Her eyebrows are arched, it seems, in a permanently playful expression. She has plump lips, and a small nose. She has a tattoo of a rose on her elbow, which she usually keeps hidden with long sleeves. She is about 5'5'', and when she lacks for in height, makes up for in dignity, standing tall and straight and unafraid. She usually wears a uniform, or if not in uniform, a long sleeve green shirt, a brown hoodless jacket and leggings, and converse shoes.
Other: Ana is good at putting on a mask. She can act calm and cool and in control one moment, and like a two year old the next. She usually is playful and funny and mischievous, all the while keeping a serious part of her open. She hates to not be in control, because it makes her feel safe, and if she doesn't feel in charge, she will get extremely agitated. She likes to be organized, as well, and everything to be clean. She is good at having a cool head in the midst of an emergency, and has saved several people's lives before with it, and caught many criminals. She doesn't like new people at first, and will act like they are trash until she warms up to them. She is very loyal, and rarely made angry, but when she is, she is terrifying in her silence. She is sarcastic, too, and knows when to say things, but she is also impatient, and very direct, and not afraid to call people idiots to their faces.

(Sorry it took me so long!)

(Oh, you're good! It's so detailed and I am awe. Anyways, I'll try to get a starter up sometime tomorrow.)

It was always cold there. Her breath froze in clouds of white in front of her face, adding another layer of creepy to the whole thing. As usual, those monsters were gliding in circles around her, their wide smiles sharp and bright white. But there was another person standing in front of her this time. Their breath was obscuring their face, but she caught glimpses of brown hair and eyes. "Hey!" Laurel yelled, taking a step towards the person. They slowly looked up, and took a step towards her. The most cleared away some, and she could almost make out their face–
Laurel snapped back to the present, just in time to avoid running into someone.
"Sorry!" She threw behind her, weaving around another group of people. The sun beat down on the street, but didn't seem to keep the entire population of her small town at home. They were all over the place, and she was going to run into someone at some point. Especially with her mind wandering to her dream over and over again. But she couldn't help it. There was something weird about it. It almost felt real.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Ana moved gracefully through the woods behind her house. It was peaceful and calm. Birds were chirping, and there was the faint bubbling of a brook nearby. But she was in no mood to enjoy the beauty of nature. Her shoes seemed to snap over every stick, and she moved as quickly as she could to her destination, without seeming to be in a hurry.

She finally arrived, and collapsed to her knees, throwing up in a nearby bush. She coughed, wiped her mouth, and straightened, glancing around to make sure no one saw.

She had been having the dreams again. Of a girl, with blonde hair, and monsters and death. The last time she had had dreams like this, a city had blown up. Something was coming. She knew it. She didn't know what, as her dreams were never realistic, but there was something going to happen.

Laurel managed to make it out of the most crowded part of the street without running someone over. She tried to remember what had happened in her dream next, but it was already fading. The only things she could remember were the monsters, and a blurry image of the other person. They were a woman, possibly… But she didn't think she'd ever seen her before. Wasn't that against the rules of dreams? Everyone in a dream had to be from real life. Laurel dropped onto an empty bench near the edge of the town and ran her hands over her face. It was just a dream. It was just a dream. But why did it feel so real?

@PrettyLittlePyro

Ana shook her head and ran a hand through her hair. She pulled a tin can from her pocket and opened it, popping a mint into her mouth, to get the taste of bile from her mouth. She straightened and shook her head, straightening her clothes and put the tin back in her pocket.

She needed to go for a walk. She needed to get away, to clear her head and keep herself sane. She exited the forest, in an area near the town. There was alrady someone there, sitting on a bench, and she turned away. She really didn't want to see people right now.

This wasn't a good thing to dwell on. Laurel let her hands drop into her lap and looked up. There really weren't people around her, except for one– Laurel shot to her feet, her heart pounding in her throat. That… That couldn't be true. But the woman standing there… Laurel could have sworn that she was the woman in her dream. Her legs carried her towards the woman, even as her brain was screaming at her to stop.
"Excuse me?" Laurel called, stopping a few feet away from the woman. "I, uh…" She trailed off, unsure of what to say next. What if it wasn't her? But the feeling of familiarity that had shot through Laurel the moment she laid eyes on the woman couldn't be fake… could it?

@PrettyLittlePyro

Ana stiffened at the voice. No. She didn't want to talk. She didn't want to be around people. She didn't want to socialize. But since this person had talked to her, she had no choice.

She plastered a fake smile on her face and turned, before her expression melted into shock. It couldn't be…

@MarDeColores this is not it kids

It was. It was her. The face of the woman in her dream snapped into focus in her mind, matching the face of the woman standing in front of her exactly.
"You're her!" Laurel blurted out, a disbelieving laugh escaping her lips. "I mean…" What did you say to a person you'd seen in a dream? Laurel had no clue. She couldn't stop staring at the woman, which probably wasn't the best idea. But she couldn't help it. Her entire mind was frozen.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Ana blinked in shock. She backed away, horrified and astonished and excited all at once. "I-I…" It was starting. Whatever was going to happen, it was starting.
