"Why do they sound like that when they die?! "

"I dunno. Ask the person who made monsters the way they are." Reyna shrugs.

"And who would that be? "

"He'liáth, the dude who built the Tower. And, rumour has it, the city. But we don't know." Reyna replies.

"Oh that's… Interesting, I may have an idea.. "

"Oh? And what is this idea of yours?" Reyna inquires, lowering her voice as they pass a richer looking pairing.

"Well…. " she pauses looking over to the side before continuing her thought "why don't we go look for It… I'm sure there's other entrances to the.. Place I found you"

Reyna pauses.

"You want to go back to the Tower? To try and find a passage to the City?" she murmurs.

She nods as they walk down the dampened stone path "yes, I believe it to be quite interesting and I'd like to see it first hand if I'm able"

Reyna takes a breath.

"We'd be down there for a long time, Isla. I don't doubt our ability to find it, but eventually I'd be looking by myself. . ." she murmurs, her pace slowing considerably.

The color in isla's face lightened a bit and Reyna spoke "what do you mean by that…. "

Reyna lets go of Isla's hand.

"My life expectancy is well over 5 centuries. . . if we started now, we might have a chance of finding the city together, but you'd be old, and I'd look pretty much the same." she whispers.

It felt as if all the blood in isla's body had run cold as she listened to her speak

Reyna stops walking entirely.

"I probably should've told you this before I slept with you, huh. . ." she murmurs.

Isla pauses for a moment before shaking her head "no… It's best you told me, now I know how long I have with you, ' she said with a soft smile as she grabbed the girls had again

Reyna looks up, surprised.

"What?" she asks, confused.

"You heard me. " she said with a small laugh "we have different life spans so what? "

Reyna raises an eyebrow.

"And you have no problem with the fact that your girlfriend will outlive the human empire on this continent?" she replies.

"I mean not exactly no… "

Reyna smiles a little.

"And the fact that your girlfriend can suddenly grow wings and talons isn't a problem either?"

She paused for a moment looking at Reyna with a funny looking face
"Wait.. Can you really do that? "

Reyna giggles at Isla's expression.

"I can give you a demonstration later, when we're not in your human city."

Isla laughed again this isn't exactly a human city and I'm not from here I'm from a village you know the one I found you in? "

Reyna tilts her head.

"What do you mean, this isn't exactly a human city?"

"I mean what I said… I've told you this already didn't I? Not only human's live here there's all kinds of different lifeforms, elves for instance. "

Reyna looks stunned.

"Wait- wait wait wait. . . I could literally pull down my hood and nobody would bat an eye. Because elves are one of the monster races that managed to get over the prejudice against them and emerge into the human world." she asks.

Isla nodded and laughed a little bit
"Yes you can put your hood down, I've told you already Punga is a safe place."

Reyna pauses, then laughs, disappearing for a moment as she sprints back to the inn, drops off her cloak and comes back, smiling broadly.

"Let's go then!"

Isla laughs a little confused as to why she's run off but understood once she came back and she shook her head laughing "well where are we going? "

Reyna shrugs.

"I dunno. Wherever, for right now. But if we're going to go looking for the City, we may as well shop for clothes and supplies."
