“Yeah, be careful you two. And Caleb for the love of God, try not to shoot people if they piss you off. At least not on my property.” Caleb rolled his eyes at the manager. “Come on, lets go Kyle.”
“Yeah, be careful you two. And Caleb for the love of God, try not to shoot people if they piss you off. At least not on my property.” Caleb rolled his eyes at the manager. “Come on, lets go Kyle.”
Kyle looked back at the front door for a moment, the urge to just give himself up stronger then ever. This was partly his fault for using his powers so why not hand himself over? but he didn't. Instead he followed Caleb out the back door and into the street wordlessly.
“As long as we can get you pretty far from the scene of the crime. You should be okay.” He paused, looking back at him. “Does the government know about your powers?”
Kyle shook his head, "No. They don't," Kyle couldn't bring himself to look at Caleb, "Why are you helping me?"
He shrugged, he really didn’t know why he was helping him. “Do you know why they tried to arrest that girl back there?”
Again, Kyle shook his head, "No, I don't. Do you because feel free to share."
“A few months ago, the government of Anesia put in a new policy, no one could say anything against the government. If you did, and they found out about it, you’d be arrested. There've been people that have been trying to expose the government’s flaws to the rest of the world ever since then. Most people would’ve just left, but the city’s pretty much on lockdown. We’re all stuck here.”
"Great. That's just fantastic," Kyle finally looked to Caleb, "You never answered my question, why are you helping me? You could have just let me there or let me turn myself in. It would have been better for you anyway."
“You’re right, it probably would’ve been better for me, but not better for my conscience that’s for sure.” He replied in that same calm voice from earlier.
Kyle shook his head a little, "You should have just left me to die." He whispered.
“That’d go against my moral code of not letting cute guys get murdered.” He chuckled. “Why are you so keen on dying anyway?”
Kyle stopped walking, "Maybe because I have no one to stop me if I tried…" He sighed, "Again… Look, I have no friends, no family. The only person that ever cared about me is gone and I'm probably not going to graduate uni. I have these stupid powers that I don't want and never asked for and I really bloody hate myself so why can't I just leave?"
“Well I’m emotionally invested in your life now so joke’s on you, you have to live now.” His tone turned more serious “look you’re going to have to deal with these powers one way or another. If you want to save the city with them, you can do that. Or if you really want to fight the government…I guess I can’t stop you.”
"I don't want to fight the government. And I don't want to save the city, that's Electrica's job. I'd rather just stay low and to myself and not bother anybody with my issues." Kyle sighed and continued to walk.
“Damn emo Kyle’s now showing up all of a sudden. Okay, fine. But if you keep running around turning people into living popsicles, one of the sides is going to try to get you to join. So…figure out where you stand, because they might not take no for an answer.”
"I know, I know," Kyle rolled his eyes a little, "And yeah, you really don't know how emo I can get. Where are we going anyway?"
“Aw do I not get adorable Kyle anymore?” He pouted slightly, honestly he’s pretty childish. “And to answer your question, right now we’re just two normal people walking down the street to nowhere, because that’s the least suspicious thing we can do.”
"Okay, got it and you'll get adorable Kyle when I'm not in flight or fight mode." He replied, even though he was beginning to blush again.
“Thank goodness! Because if I had to deal with emo Kyle all the time, then I wouldn’t get to be emo and that’s simply not fair.”
"Shudup," Kyle elbowed Caleb in the side playfully, "I'm not that adorable."
He smiled slightly “Are you sure? Because I think that you’re that adorable. Plus, we’ve already established that I’m always right.”
"Wh-What? When did we establish that?" Kyle pouted and crossed his arms.
“Hmmmmm right now” He replied with a mischievous grin that made his eyes light up.
"But that's… that's no fair!" Kyle pouted even more.
“Too bad. Look at you, you’re even cute when you’re pouting! That’s the real injustice here!”
"You're insufferable and I hate you. Can we just go back to my place? I'm tired of walking and kinda want to take a nap."
“Ouch, that’s mean. And whether you meant to or not, you’ve just invited me along with you, so sure let’s go to your place.”
"Fine. You're gook looking so I'll give you a pass just this once." Kyle blushed a little.
“I believe that that was a compliment. Despite the fact that I’m already aware of how stunning I am, thanks for the compliment.”
"Damn, I wish I had you're confidence. Do you just… stand in the mirror and compliment yourself every morning?"
