A pair of friends, who had known each other since they were really young, grew apart after one of them (person A) realized they had feelings for the other (person B) and told them so. B didn't think of A that way (at least, not then…). Then B's family moved away, and they list contact with A.
A few years pass by, and B comes back to their old neighborhood, where A still lives. They meet a few times, and A seems to have moved on from B's rejection of them.
Eventually, B realizes that they've had feelings for A for a long time. Fluff ensues.

Sterling sighed as he stacked boxes into his arms. He carried them inside, out of the summer sun, and set them down in the small living room. With a smile, he glanced around the little house.

This was where he’s lived when he was younger. His parents had sold it to him after they moved to a one-level house, and he’d started to move in that morning.
