Like we stated in the PMs, this rp will likely be a mix between a pirate and a sci-fi rp.
As for rules, the only boundary I have is that I keep romance PG. I am totally fine with kissing, hugging, things like that, but I avoid sexual themes. 👍🏻👍🏻
Name: Arriss Levine
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Looks: Arriss is 5’7” and weighs around 126 lbs. She is Caucasian with slightly tanned skin and wild, curly cinnamon-colored hair. Has a more rectangular face with prominent cheekbones and green eyes that are slightly upturned. She had a style that changes often, but she likes to stick with t-shirts and sweatpants or leggings.
Personality: Arriss has strong leadership qualities, and she has a strong sense of Justice and wants everyone’s voices to be heard. However, Arriss is not always stern, as she has a sarcastic and somewhat dark sense of humor and a more mischievous side to her personality. Arriss can also tend to have a slight more flirtatious personality, but only on occasion.
Extra: Is the ship’s captain
Name: Conner de Lugo
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Looks: Conner is 5’9” and weighs around 160 lbs. He is a Latino with darker skin and slight curly dark brown hair that’s shaved at the sides of his head. He has a more heart shaped face and a Roman nose along with brown almond shaped eyes. He enjoys wearing t-shirts, old jeans, and occasionally sweatshirts.
Personality: Conner could be considered the more comedic character in the group; he is incredibly friendly, and his horrible sense of humor can easily get on someone’s nerves. He also tends to be very, very flirtatious, although he can’t flirt worth his life. However, despite these traits, Conner is an excellent listener and friend, and he will go out of his way to help those in need.
Extra: Is the ship’s cartographer
(Oh hi. Will jump in momentarily)
(sorry, I'm at work. Usually I have time between things but occasionally, it gets hectic)
(also, would you mind aliens as part of the crew? Or keep it to specifically humans?)
Name: Ronnie Vale
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Looks: Ronnie is roughly 5'10"/1.8m tall and weighs around 170lbs/78kg. He's Caucasian, with hazel eyes, dark brown hair cut in a classic 'high and tight' style, and the tan of a military man regularly out in the sun. He's relatively muscular, but not built, since the military pushes function over aesthetics. He enjoys wearing the latest version of military-spec adaptive camo, usually set to an old-timey Marine Woodlands design. (He's just odd that way.)
Personality: Ronnie is a competitive individual, but is generally quiet about it. He excels at things because he pushes himself. He can be reckless and impulsive, but he usually has sound thinking, even if rushed. He's from an average background, so he's generally well-adjusted. Average intelligence for a military specialist- smarter than the average man- and good situational awareness. He also does well with empathy and understanding other people's emotional states. He's good with kids, not so good with the ladies, and gets along best with other ex-military guys. Has a gentle side to him if he cares about a person.
Extra: Extremely skilled in all kinds of things, from years in the military and as part of Special units. Tends to keep it hidden because his skill set makes people nervous. Here's here as the Engineer, or as maintenance/security/jack-of-all-trades.
(also, looks like you and I have essentially the same rules so that's good :)
(Aliens are cool, so I definitely don’t mind. Also, take all the time you need! :))
Name: Valiel Gal-can
Age: 147 (young adult)
Sexual Orientation: She is attracted to males, though given that she's an alien that term is a bit… subjective.
Looks: In her human form, she is roughly 5'8", 135 lbs, has round icy blue eyes, auburn red hair that she keeps long and straight. Her nose is upturned and her face is heart-shaped, though she can shift the shape and her features easily. Tends towards a toned appearance.
Personality: Valiel is a gentle soul. She avoids fights if she can, and is quick to help others. However, she's been through some garbage which has given her a heart of steel, and she will not shy away from violence to defend herself and those she loves, if she must. She can be rather sentimental, and has a quick laugh reflex.
Extra: She shapeshifts with ease, as most Skin-changers do. Valiel will appear human most of the time, and is the ship medic and xeno expert.
(I love them! Should any of our characters have relationships prior to the rp? They could be friends, enemies, dating, exes, etc. Or should we stick with them not knowing each other?)
(I'm good with them not knowing each other. Or maybe they're acquaintances from the criminal underworld. Sorta. Maybe?)
(Hmmm, they were mostly likely paired together before the mission, and they might’ve trained with each other.)
(ooh, works for me! do you wanna post a starter?)
(( 👍🏻👍🏻 I’ll get up a starter. ))
Being a captain was strange to Arriss, even after months of being in space. Sure, she’d always dreamed of one day piloting a ship and exploring the galaxy, but not like this. Not with the mission she’d been sent on.
You see, ten years before this— in the year 2042– humans began to long to migrate away from earth. They wanted to explore the universe, to migrate to planets other than their own. This longing grew even more when a new planet was discovered. A new planet that could sustain life. The nations of the world quickly sent their explorers to the planet to claim parts of it as their own, but as this occurred, tensions began to rise between the countries. It wasn’t long before 2050 rolled around and WWIII broke out between the nations.
However, this war wasn’t only contained on the earth. It went on throughout the entire galaxy. Colonies from other planets would send resources and troops to and from earth to help in the war effort, and because of this, men and women were sent out to essentially become “space pirates”. They would raid these supply ships, stealing all the resources and killing or taking hostage everyone on board. It was a dangerous job. One that Arriss wasn’t quite sure she could handle.
That day marked their sixth month on the ship, and Arriss was sitting in the cockpit, navigating the ship. Everyone else on the ship— or at least as far as Arriss knew— was asleep, but she couldn’t go to bed just yet. Not when danger could be nearby.
Ronnie walked in. Well, more like shuffled, rubbing sleep out of his eyes, but he came up to the door of the cockpit.
"Doing ok, Cap?" His voice was rough with the tones of a man who's been asleep for something like 14 hours. He'd been sick, briefly, and Valiel had sentenced him to bedrest.
Ex-military meant that for Ronnie, space was a reprieve from the hellhole that was Earth at the moment. When he'd been offered a spot on a 'privateering' mission, he'd seen it for what it was- space piracy.
And had said yes, immediately.
He'd developed a bit of a sweet spot for his Captain, though he tried to keep it clamped down. Stay professional.
Still, seeing her on edge and in need of rest made him frown.
Arriss wiped the tiredness from her eyes before she turned towards Ronnie, sending ig his a small smile. She wanted to remain cool and collected in front of all her crew mates, show them that she was fit to be in the role of captain. But, no matter how hard she tried, she knew that Ronnie could likely see through her facade. After all, despite her efforts to not grow close to anyone on the ship, she had started growing closer to Ronnie during their trip. Or at least closer than she was with any of their other crew mates.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She resisted the urge to walk over to him. “Though, I can’t say the same to you. You’ve been sick. You should be in bed, love.”
She had to say, she did somewhat like that he seemed worried about her. She always tried to seem like she was doing fine, but it was nice to know that he cared.
She rubbed at her eyes and Ronnie stepped into the cockpit, still keeping a respectful distance. In the small quarters of the ship, they had to be careful to give each other space.
Arriss turned to face him, and Ronnie returned her smile. He shook his head at her assertion he should still be resting.
"Nah, I've been asleep for something like 13-14 hours. I'm ok. Besides, Valiel isn't up to check, so I'm declaring myself just fine." He grinned at her, before stepping over to the co-pilot chair. "Go rest. I'll keep an eye on things here." His voice had gone gentle, as it tended to with her, and he fought the urge to keep looking at her by turning and examining the console and screen in front of him.
“Mm… I don’t know if I trust you with all this equipment,” she teased. “It doesn’t take long for something to go wrong.”
She was joking, of course. While it was true that it was easy for this kind of equipment to break down, she knew that she could trust Ronnie to handle it. He was an engineer, after all, and good with this kind of equipment. His skills with the technology on the ship was one of the many things she admired about him.
“And there’s no way I’m leaving you here alone, especially with you just getting over a sickness.” She sat down in the chair next to him, staring out at the stars. “That would be cruel.”
She stole a glance over at Ronnie for a moment as she curled up in the chair. She was glad he was feeling better. Not only because they didn’t have anyone to handle the equipment while he was out, but also because she had been incredibly worried about him. She had checked on him a dozen times while he was sick; it was something Conner never failed to tease her about.
Ronnie looked at her with mock outrage on his face. "All this equip- madam, I will have you know that I could take this equipment apart and put it back together and still not knock us off course!" He grinned at her, before starting to protest her decision to stay.
"Now wait, you nee-…"
She'd sat down, and he didn't want her to go… so he just turned and dimmed the lights in the cockpit by a lot.
"You really should sleep, though…"
He was keenly aware that she'd been up, worrying. About the ship, of course. If something happened to him, poor Connor would have to learn how to fine-tune a a reactor, and boy, wouldn't that be an adventure. Ronnie was useful, that's why she'd invested in him so much.
“Oh, fine. I’ll go to sleep, if it makes you happy.” She grinned and rolled her eyes. “But I’ll sleep in here. I don’t want you to be too lonely without me, love.”
She smirked at him before she pulled her curls over her shoulder, resting her cheek against the chair as she gazed in his direction. If there was one thing that she loved about this ship. It was the sounds and movement it made. The low buzzing of the engine and the rocking of the ship began to lull her into sleep.
“You know, if Conner saw us in here together, we would never hear the end of it,” she said softly. “And then he would go and tell Valiel.”
Ronnie smiled, deciding he didn't want to try to shoo her away. He wasn't prone to loneliness, after having spent literal months in solitary confinement as a POW, but she didn't know that story.
He could tell she was drifting off as her breathing changed, though the statement about Connor made him laugh quietly.
"You're right, but he and Valiel have such a weird energy going on, he wouldn't tease very long, cuz I'd tease right back."
And it was true. Valiel being an alien had initially seemed like it might cause friction, but she was so adaptable and willing to work with everyone, it had all come out alright.
On top of that, she was kinda pretty.
At the moment, she was hanging from the ceiling in her room, tentacles and feelers gripping the ceiling as she rested in her natural form. Though her alarm to go check on Ronnie was about to go off, so it wouldn't last long.
She smiled and closed her eyes, feeling the vibrations of the ship as he spoke. Maybe she should sleep in here more often. Sure, she enjoyed her bed, but something about the the cockpit just felt safe to her. Besides, she could always open her eyes and look out the window at the galaxy surrounding them.
“That’s true. I don’t know what going on with them.” She laughed softly. “I want to say I ship it, but I don’t know. Conner does have the tendency to flirt with whoever he can.”
She adjusted herself in her chair, turning to stare out the window. She had looked at sights similar to this hundreds of times before, but it would never seem to get old.
She let out a small sigh. “It’s beautiful…”
