Let me start this off with all the trigger warnings that could possibly be in this.
GORE, STARVATION, SH, SUICIDE, AND POSSIBLY MORE

Now let's set the scene in the format of an old journal entry! (:

Day ???
"I once believed the world could return to normal. That was before a few mad scientist idiots made the end of the world some how worse.
Those things, The dead, Zombies, whatever you wanna call em, they got smarter. The cure we had all been promised turned out to bull shit.
those who got this so called cure turned into those monsters. Only they where smarter, faster, hungrier.
one spoke to me. It was a little girl, probably no older then ten. I had no clue until I saw her eyes. It's always the eyes. Blood shot, gray, which ever it may be don't be as stupid as I had".

Day???
"I had hopped that maybe that this new strain wasn't contagious. I was horribly wrong. I have no intention of becoming one of them. This will be the last entry. I wish well to whoever may find this. If anyone ever finds it.
to be completely honest I don't know why I chose to continue writing all these weeks. Maybe I thought I'd survive all this, see the world start to heal. And I thought that dream would come true when that damn cure was made."
Uuuuuh, yeah. I hope that sets it up well enough.
Basically we'll be starting already in the apocalypse. I kinda want our characters to be just meeting, but we can always discuss that. Romance can happen if you want. Again we can discuss that though.

All in all I wanna say its only been a year since the out break, and a week or two since the second out break.
Basically anyone who got the "cure" is a new type of zombie, that can pass that on to other survivors via body fluids.

As far as rules go:

  • ask to join, I have the right to refuse you
  • atleast 3 lines for responses
  • be kind
  • try to put warnings if you're gonna explain stuff in detail.

Mmmmm thats it

@EtherealDreamer

(sure!)

Lilac gently grasped his small, boney wrist in her small, child sized hand.
"please," she said, her head hanging towards the ground, as if she were ashamed of her behaviour, under the circumstances.
Apollo spun around, blotches of color rising on his milky white freckled cheeks.
He yanked his wrist from his twin sister's grip and stamped his foot on the ground, reminding Lilac of a child, much like the very way she was acting in the few moments before.
"Well." Apollo said, how voice wavering in anger and emotion as the tears threatened to spill over the brim of his eyes. "I guess I'll be going them" he said, quickly making his way out the front door of their small, three bedroom farm house and slamming it behind him.

It was easy to tell where the dead had been, as their scent tended to linger. Venna crinkled her nose. She didn't take risks. she played it safe. Most of the time.
But now, with only a single can of beans and well, Beans the dog, she needed to find food.
Living at that camp she'd gotten to used to not thinking of where her next meal would come from. Now ever since it'd been over run, she found herself going into places she should have been avoiding.
Like this house for instance. The door had been missing, blood dried in the halls, and almost ever cabinet was thrown open.
Beans' nails tapped on the floor as he followed behind her. Not only was Venna struggling to find their next meal, but now she was being used as a meat shield by a rat looking chihuahua.Wonderful.
She took a deep breath, inhaling the stench of rot and death. Something had died here recently. And as she rounded the corner into the next room she found the poor bastard, (Tw) brains decorating the walls. Her eyes widened, it was to fresh. Probably no older then a few hours at least. With a curse Venna scooped up Beans. Who knew who had heard that gun shot. Anyone, or anything could be in the area.

@EtherealDreamer

Millie held her arms across her chest as she tried to cease the shaking of her entire body. Which had come to be with her since she fired her gun at that thing.

She heard a small noise in the room next to her and moved slowly towards the doorway until her arm was stable enough to raise her gun. She inched out into the next room, her gun in front of her and pointing at not a threat, or possibly a human one. But a girl and a dog.
"There's nothing to take here" she said, shouldered her bag.
"Everything is gone already." She added quickly.

@Dirt

Venna froze at the girls voice. She needed to get out of there, they both did if they wanted to survive. Both being her, and beans. Venna didn't care much about the stranger.
She raised one hand, showing herself to be as unthreating as possible. "I can see that." Venna's mind started to race. She couldn't really reach for a knife to defend herself unless she dropped Beans. She didn't want to drop him. Not to mention if she made any sudden movements the stranger could easily pull the tigger. Venna had quite literally brought a knife to a gun fight.
She did have a gun of her own, tucked away in her back pocket with only one bullet remaining. One bullet that had her name on it. She always promised herself she'd only use it in a pinch or if she got bit. "I don't want any trouble. I'm just leaving. That thing I'm assuming you shot, the noise will have attracted others. We don't wanna be here when they show up."

@EtherealDreamer

Millie took a shaky inhale, listening closely to what the stranger had to say.
She lowered the gun, stuffing it into her back pocket quickly.

"Yeah," she said nervously "you're right" she exclaimed wildly, her eyes darting around, taking in everything as quickly as possible. She looked at the stranger, who was carrying a small dog. She squinted her eyes.

"I have dog food, up at my apartment, if you want it" Millie whispered, eyeing the dog. The poor thing she thought to herself. Must be so pitiful being in a world like this

@Dirt

At least the stranger wasn't irrational. Venna lowered her hand, and tucked beans closer to her chest. If she had to run suddenly it would be better to have a tighter grip on him.
Dog food, it would be better then halfing her can of beans with him. This was the kind of situation her parents had warned her about as a small child. Never to trust a stranger that said they had something cool back at their car, apartment, house whatever.
It could have been a trap. The girl could have been acting, trying to get her back to a group so they could jump her. Not that Venna had much they could take. "Okay." She hated how willing she was to just go with this stranger.

@EtherealDreamer

Millie smiled slightly and relaxed a bit, waving her hand, motioning for the stranger and her dog to follow her.

She turned on her heel and made her way through the house slowly, in order to avoid tripping over anything. She then edged towards the apartment building across the street, where she went into the apartment at the top floor. She pulled out the key, unlocking it quickly, practically pushing the girl inside and shutting it and locking it back.
"Sorry, Im not like kidnapping you or anything, it's just those things— zombies or whatever — can open doors and shit now so yeah, not trying to die because I was an idiot and left my door unlocked." she said nervously, going into the kitchen and bringing the bag of dog food over, it was just big enough to look the same weight and size as the dog itself.

Venna had anxiously followed, hating the slow causas pace. When they had reached the apartment and the door locked behind her, that's when all the red flags started to go off. This stranger now had her locked in their apartment.
Venna liked to believe maybe Beans was also afraid and that was why he was shaking. But Beans was a chihuahua, and offten started shaking for no reason.
She eyed the bag of dog food. "Why?" It was stupid to finally be asking only after letting the door lock. Not to mention the strangers previous comment. The dead could open doors? The hell was she talking about.

@EtherealDreamer

"im telling you," Millie said, her voice raising an octave or two in panic that maybe this stranger would hurt her. "I've seen them open doors" she heaved the bag of dog food into her arms and smiled at the stranger, hoping to display an affection that would persuade the stranger from thinking ill of her.

"I don't want to have a heart attack like that again," she said nervously. "I was lucky I woke up when i heard my door open, or I wouldnt be here right now" she explained. "I've always been a fairly light sleeper" she commented, tilting her head to one side.

@Dirt

This woman was ovbously delusional. The dead couldn't open doors, it had to have been someone alive. Right?
Venna dropped the bag of dog food almost immediately. She felt safer having one hand free, and definitely wasn't going to put Beans down. Even though he had started to squirm. "I need to leave." It had just clicked that they where still very much so to close to where the gun had been fired. The place would be crawling with zombies soon enough, and Venna did not need to be stuck with someone she didn't know.
She eyed the bag of dog food for a moment before sliding her backpack off, and dumping about half the bag into it. She definitely couldn't take it all. Even half was going to weigh her down. She pulled the bag back onto her back, all without setting beans down. "You need to leave too, this place will be crawling and then you won't be able to leave." It was bad to get attached to places. Venna had learned that the hard way.

@EtherealDreamer

Millie pursed her lips in a way in which conveyed that she didn't fully want to agree.
"Uhm, that's okay, I think I'll stay. I have food and water and stuff here so I'll be fine." She whispered quietly, looking down at her shoe's. She didn't want to admit to this stranger that she was connected to this place in a way and that she had no plan on leaving.

@Dirt

Vennas heart started to race. "Suit yourself," she glanced twords the locked door before making her way over to it. "Thank you for the dog food." She said while flicking the lock open.
Venna poked her head out the door, glancing both ways. She cursed internally at the sight of a zombie at the end of the corredor.

It was just one. She could easily set Beans down for a few moments and take the thing on. Beans was smart enough to usually understand to stay put when the dead where near. It was almost like he knew she was protecting him. That or Beans was incredibly stupid and had zero survival skills.
Venna wasted a few moments looking back to the stranger.
By the time she turned her attention back to the zombie it was mere feet away, grinning widely. "Shit," her voice was more shrill then intended. Before she had time to reach for the knife tucked in the side of her backpack the thing was tackling her back into the apartment.

@EtherealDreamer

Millie fumbled for her baseball bat, which was metal and she could easily pull out of the side pocket of her backpack.
She swung her hands back and using as much strength as she could muster to swing the bat into the zombie's head.

It gave a eerily crack when the metal made contact with it's skull and she found her legs becoming weaker by the second. She ushered herself to stay calm and the thing rolled off the stranger, it's face half bashed in, it's one eye looking up at her, until she brought the bat down vertically on its head once again and it stopped moving very suddenly.

Millie bent over, her hands on her knees and took slow deep breaths in and she tried to give the stranger a smile.
"A-are you—okay?" She asked through inhales.

@Dirt

(Whoops sorry about the disappearance)

Bile rose in Venna's throat. The smile that thing had given her, the sound of metal meeting bone, the sight of its face now smashed in. "Yeah. Thanks- Tahnk you." she forced herself to take a few calming breaths and swallow the vomit in her throat. It made her gag.
"What the hell was that thing?" Just as the words left her mouth she noticed she had dropped Beans during the camotion.
Venna whipped her head around, looking widely for her dog. She spotted him just bearly peeking around a far corner from inside the apartment. Venna quickly and silently thanked whatever god was still out there.

@EtherealDreamer

(it's okay!)

Millie shrugged.
"Dunno," she said quietly "I don't think I want to know either." She stated and swallowed audibly.
"Honestly," she uttered "this place is going to shit."

@Dirt

Venna nodded her head in agreement. She pushed her self up from the floor, trying to avoid looking at that thing.
It was hard avoiding a glance as she grabbed the monster by its ankles and dragged it out of Millie's apartment. A trail of brains was left behind.
"Do you think we could stay until tomorrow," Venna quickly corrected herself, "we as in me and Beans." She pointed to where the dog was still cowering within the strangers apartment.
Minutes ago Venna couldn't wait to get out of the apparetment and as far away from the dinner bell as possible. But now? If there where more of those things out there, ones that could run, she didn't know how well she'd be able to outrun them. Especially with night approaching.

@EtherealDreamer

"of course" Millie said kindly, shutting and locking the door, making sure to nudge the body out of the doorway, so it wouldnt be in the apartment.

"I have food, if you need it, and water. A bucket in the bathroom if you have to pee, because the water is shut off currently." She clarified, sloping down on the couch in the living room.
