(It's fine. I'll start us off!)

The stretcher with a girl on it was wheeled into a room almost directly inside the trauma center. She looked about the age of six or seven, and her mother was following the gurney like a hawk as it entered the hospital.

"Seven-year-old girl fell off the slide on the playground," one of the EMTs said. "Mother says she was responsive at first, but she isn't anymore. She's got cuts on her arms from the fall, and there might be a possibility of a concussion."

A nurse with a cropped haircut moved to help the emergency responders as they lined the stretcher up with the bed. Trailing them, Eleanor O'Hara buttoned up her white coat so she didn't get any blood on her expensive clothes underneath. Her heels clicked impressively on the tile floor as she made her way into the room and beside the bed.

"On my count," she declared, her British accent making her words seem more regal than they really were. She reached across the bed to aid in the transfer and counted: "One, two, three." The team fluidly pulled the girl from the gurney onto the bed, and quickly, Dr. O'Hara began to work. "Does she have a name?" she asked, examining her as the nurse buzzed around, setting up IV fluids.

"Her name is Monica," the mother replied. "Is she going to be okay?"

"Monica?" O'Hara asked, taking inventory of what she was working with. "Monica, darling, can you hear me?" She looked up at the nurse. "Jacks, can you escort the mother out?"

As the nurse hurried away, assuring the woman her daughter was in safe hands, O'Hara sighed with relief and began to give orders to the other nurse working with her – Zoey. "We're working from the head down. Make sure there's no brain damage. I want a CT scan as soon as possible, and potentially an MRI. Someone page Dr. Jones from pediatrics, tell her she needs to get here as soon as possible." With her orders done, O'Hara used her stethoscope to listen to her heartbeat.

"I was paged." Emilia came into the emergency room after the patient was confirmed not to be in critical condition. Then she saw the young girl lying in the bed. She was awake now, and sitting up. She had loose braids of brown hair and a round face, she reminded Emilia of one of her nieces, one of John's daughters.
Beside the bed was a metal bowl with water tinged with red and white bandages.
"What's her condition? Has she said anything yet?" she asked the ER doctor.
The child looked like she was fine, but external appearances were often deceiving. She could have a number of problems, her biggest concern right now was a concussion or internal bleeding.

"Not yet," O'Hara replied, barely looking up as the other doctor entered. "Could you sit up straight for me, sweetheart?" Monica obeyed, and O'Hara pressed her stethoscope against her back briefly. She pulled away, draping it around her neck before she took the folder from the foot of the bed. "Here are the charts," she remarked, offering the folder to the other doctor.

Emilia nodded, taking the charts.
"She'd going to need an x ray to check for spinal injuries. I'm worried that she hasn't responded yet. She is able to understand us I see so the issue there, if there is one is more likely neurological. We should get the CT scan sooner rather than later. Are most important priority here is checking that she is still functioning well mentally. It says she fell from 7 feet."
Just then Monica gasped, and her eyes rolled backwards; her body began to vibrate uncontrollably.
"Monica. Can you still hear me? Monica…She's unresponsive." She turned Monica onto her side with the help of the nurse.
"What do you suggest we do O'Hara?" she asked breathlessly. She wasn't often called to the ER.

O'Hara immediately went into action, pushing Emilia and Zoey away from the girl. "Let her be," she said, glancing down at her watch to time how long Monica had her small seizure. It was about a minute and a half before the girl was still, and O'Hara sighed.

The doctor approached Monica again and felt her heart rate. The girl's eyes opened, and she looked up worriedly at O'Hara. "Where's my mom?" she whispered.

"She's outside," Zoey replied. "It's okay."

"She needs a CT scan right away," O'Hara murmured. "Zoey, call up to ortho and tell them to get ready." She looked from the nurse to Emilia expectantly. "Help me move her?" She placed her hands on the side of Monica's bed.

Emilia bit her lip, she should have guessed something like this would have happened since it was the ER, but she still hated the embarrassment she felt. She swallowed. She needed to get over herself.
"Of course" she said moving to help her transport the bed. She glanced at O'Hara, her lips were pressed together and she could see that she was tense, but confident.
She glanced back at Monica, she looked frightened, but she couldn't see anything more that might worry her.
"Hey Monica" she began softly. "We're just going to run some tests to make sure you're ok and then you'll probably be able to see your mum again ok?"
Monica nodded, "I wish I could see my mom now" she said quietly, looking down as they rushed down the hallway.
"I'm sure you will in no time alright?"

O'Hara gained her grip after a few steps. The beds weren't particularly heavy, but Manolo Blahniks weren't exactly the best shoes to be wearing for this job. Yet she still wore them every day anyway. "Wrong shoes for this," she muttered, guiding the bed around a corner.

She listened to the conversation between Emilia and Monica, and she smiled subtly. Emilia was good with kids, the best, which was why O'Hara had paged her specifically.

"The scans won't take too long, darling," she added, pushing open a pair of white double doors. "You're being a very brave girl."

@HeyBlueJay group

Monica smiled at that, making her sigh with relief. It was critical that patients weren't in a state of panic or overly stressed, especially children, as they were more inclined to be frightened in the new environment of a hospital.
They didn't spare any time transferring the patient to the testing room and they were there within minutes. It was unlikely anything would go wrong with in the scanning process and Emilia let herself relax a little when she let go of the bed. She had been a resident in All saints hospital for 5 years already and a medical intern and student for much longer but she still got nervous when she saw any patient in danger. Was that a bad trait to have as a doctor? Some would say yes, but Emilia knew she was always level-headed and ready for anything despite what she might be feeling. She wasn't weak, as some of her colleagues had so kindly called her.
Now that Monica was being taken care of and being scanned by the radiologist, all she had to regarding the patient was wait for her to finish and for the test results to be sent to her.

The doctor sighed quietly with relief once Monica was relaxed and in the room for her scans.

O'Hara had never been good with kids. She typically gave the younger patients to Coop, Cruz, Roman, or Prentiss, but she decided to take this one since they were all busy. She couldn't say she regretted it. Working with any of the pediatricians was an experience, but O'Hara certainly preferred Emilia. She felt a sort of kinship with the woman.

She stood outside the window next to Emilia and glanced over at her. "You alright?" she murmured.

@HeyBlueJay group

"Yes" she answered, a little too quickly, "I'm not easily shaken."
Her eyes were focused on Monica lying down in the CT scan beyond the glass. She must have been nervous.
It had been a long shift already, and these shifts could only get longer. She checked her watch. 7:02 pm.
Jaden's show must have started already. He would have his friends and his father there to support him. He would be fine. But still she felt…
"Something isn't right…" she heard the radiologist mutter under his breath.
"What is it?" she asked, turning to look at him.
He squinted at the screen "That's really strange…I thought I saw something but its almost like it disappeared…I'll check again."
She looked back to her patient. Nothing was off physically as far as she could tell. She felt uneasy.

@emilyevewrites group

O'Hara nodded and looked back at Monica for a moment. Over the intercom, the administrator's voice stated bluntly: "Paging Dr. O'Hara. Dr. O'Hara to the ER. Dr. O'Hara to the ER."

O'Hara sighed and took a step back from the glass. "Look, I've got to dash. I'm sorry. Keep me updated on how she's doing, alright?"

@HeyBlueJay group

"Hey" she called to the doctor from the doorway. "Sorry to interrupt your break time, but I thought you'd want to know that Monica is doing ok. She has a concussion and needed some stitches but other than that she's fine. She's being sent home with instructions for bedrest to help with the concussion…" she sighed, she didn't like praising people, especially people who might suffer more from the praise, but she said, "I also wanted to let you know how I appreciate you ER doctors and the nurses. If it weren't for you these children wouldn't even make it to my doors. You're saving lives; don't forget it."
She felt herself cringe when she said it, she didn't mind complimenting the children that came into her care. It was part of the job to keep their spirits up and comfort them if they were stressed. But it was strange to be so transparent when you didn't have to.

@HeyBlueJay group

(On another note I am imagining my character looking like Leslie knope from Parks and rec for some reason and it is hard to be serious for that reason 😂)

@emilyevewrites group

O'Hara looked up quickly at the sudden interruption of her quiet time. She'd been leaning back in her chair with her eyes closed, and she snapped at attention. "Do you ever knock?" she demanded, but her demeanor softened at the mention of Monica. "Right… thank you for letting me know," she murmured thoughtfully, letting her hands subconsciously clutch her stomach. "I appreciate it, Dr. Jones."

At the bit of praise, the doctor couldn't help but smirk slightly with amusement. She wasn't used to being praised for her effort. Being a trauma doctor was a bit of a thankless job. "Thank you," she accepted the comments and inclined her head to the chairs on the opposite side of her desk. "If you're not busy, it's been a mostly slow day, and I'm taking a break, if you'd like to join me. It's quieter in here, trust me."
