Darius grinned.
"Perfect! Shall we do it tomorrow then?" The man looked just as excited about this as Mara was, arms folded around his knees.
Darius grinned.
"Perfect! Shall we do it tomorrow then?" The man looked just as excited about this as Mara was, arms folded around his knees.
“Tomorrow sounds great.” Mara smiled brightly. It had been a long time since a story had captivated the young woman so much so she was obviously looking forward to seeing the next one very much.
"Great! I can make snacks, too, because it will be a long thing." Darius chuckled, smiling just a brightly back. He let out a breath of content, leaning back in his seat now.
“Ok. How long is it?” she asked curiously, wondering if there was anything she would need to bring or do to prepare for tomorrow.
"Well… If we watch more than one, it can easily get to over four hours," Darius admitted. "And even if just one, it'd be at least an hour."
Mara nodded slowly at the answer. “That’s a long time… but if the rest of the story is as good as this part. It'll be worth it.” she thought out loud, smiling at Darius at the end.
"Mm… right! It'll be worth it for sure." Darius hummed, head resting on his knee.
Mara smiled softly but eagerly at Darius. She may not completely understand somethings mentioned in the movies but she certainly was looking forward to learning.
Darius held back a yawn, blinking slowly as he smiled back.
"This has been really fun," he said, smile still there. It was nice spending time with Mara.
Mara nodded softly, stretching her arms slightly. “Yeah, it has been.” she smiled. “Are you tired?”
"Just a bit," Darius admitted. "You?" He let his yawn out then, leaning his head down again with a sleepy smile.
“Not really.” Mara admitted, though his yawn almost made her copy the action. “I usually stay awake for a while after you fall asleep. That's one of the best times to gather things…” she explained before trailing off, feeling like she said too much.
"Oh, that makes sense," Darius said, still with his sleepy smile. He genuinely didn't mind Mara gathering things- this was her house as much as his, after all. He yawned again, covering his mouth.
Mara smiled a little when Darius didn't press for answers. Honestly, she didn't see it that way. As far as she knew it was his house and she was just trying to survive in it. Though it was reassuring that he didn't see her as a parasite. “Maybe you should go to bed.” she suggested with a soft smile.
Darius nodded some, yawning.
"I think I should… Need help back up?" Darius moved to offer his hand to Mara, smiling softly. He was still content with what they had done, and the time they had spent together. It was nice…
Mara blinked for a moment before looking at the wall. “Yes, please.” she smiled softly at Darius, nodding. She stood up and carefully climbed on his hand when it was offered. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” she asked hopefully. Today had just been so enjoyable for her as well. She didn't want it to really end.
"For sure." Darius smiled sleepily at Mara, pulling her up close to his chest before attempting to stand.
"Today was really nice…" Darius yawned softly, making his way over to the home in the wall before raising his hand up to let Mara off.
Mara sat down before he started to move but smiled softly back. Being so close to him, it was actually kind of nice, she realized. She nodded at his sleepy comment and carefully stepped off his hand when he brought her back to her home. “It was. I hope you sleep well.” she smiled again.
"You too, whenever you find yourself going to bed." Darius smiled softly, lowering his hands once Mara was off of them.
"I'll be making breakfast for both of us in the morning, if I remember to wake up." The man chuckled some, shoulders raising slightly as he did. He picked up the picture, letting out a breath as the chuckle died off.
"Good night, Mara."
Mara smiled back at him and nodded slightly. She wasn't sure exactly when she was planning to go to sleep but it was likely that she would stay up a while longer.
The tiny girl stared at him for a moment at his comment. Or was it an offer? “Th… Thank you.” she said gratefully, hoping she wasn't being selfish or anything by accepting food from him. “Good night, Darius.” she answered before moving to close the curtain they had put up.
"You're welcome…" Darius let out a content, sleepy hum, putting the picture in place when the curtain was closed. He yawned, hand going to cover his mouth before he turned to go back to his bedroom. He turned the television and lights off as he went, stretching. He closed his door, getting ready for bed before laying down to sleep.
The growing darkness told Mara when the picture was in place and she sighed softly, slipping back into old habits that had meant safety for so long. She didn't feel like she was in danger around Darius, it was just such a stark contrast to the way she had lived before. Looking around her home as she relit a couple of candles, she realized how empty it all felt. There were a few personal things and a couple of simple decorative pieces but overall it was meant to be easy to leave without a trace of even existing… and the thought almost made her a little sad after spending so much time with Darius and actually being acknowledged.
Darius slipped easily into sleep when he laid down, resting on his side with one arm under his pillow. He didn't often find himself awake long after laying down, something that must have been very good for Mara in the past. He was excited, to have a new friend, and to share his home with Mara. He'd keep her safe…
Mara stayed up for a couple more hours, finishing her usual chores and taking care of the rest of her food. She wasn't entirely sure what to do or think about Darius offering her food so freely. It was obviously very kind of him and not accepting the offer seemed rude to her but at the same time, she couldn't let herself become dependant on him. That was almost as dangerous as getting caught. But she still suspected that she was under a healthy weight for her size… Maybe she was too strict with her rationing… She shook her head to clear it of those thoughts and finally decided to go to bed and stop worrying about all that for now.
Darius woke up in the morning with a yawn, stretching some. He never did remember his dreams, but he knew they had been pleasant ones. Running his fingers through his hair, the man sat up, running his tongue around his mouth to get the morning dry out. After a few minutes, he swung his legs over the edge, slipping his feet into his slippers before standing and heading out to the kitchen to work on making breakfast.
Mara wasn't much of an early riser. She was able to, especially when it was important, but given the option, she would prefer to sleep in… and honestly, she didn't really own a watch or clock of any kind. When she finally did get up, it took her a couple minutes to remember that what happened yesterday wasn't a dream and she smiled softly at that as she started to get ready for the day.
Darius smiled as he cooked, spatula in hand as he turned the sausage links in the pan. He wasn't going to make much more than normal, but he figured it would be good to not just have the same amount as always. So, there was an entire extra link for Mara, and Darius was planning on cooking up some french toast to go with them.
Mara decided, if the offer was still open, that she wasn't going to look like she just rolled out of bed when she joined Darius. A lot of her clothes looked similar but it didn't matter too much to her. She knew that he probably wouldn't be able to notice, at least she didn't think he would, but she went ahead and washed her face before brushing her hair. After getting dressed, she grabbed her little bag with her hook and some other equipment and headed down one of the many passages she used to get around the house, making her way towards the kitchen.
The sausage and the french toast weren't the only things Darius was making. He didn't quite know what kinds of food Mara liked, so he was trying to make some of everything. The french toast would be the sweet, and the sausage the umami… now to figure out the spicy. Darius thought a moment, deciding on an omlette. You couldn't go wrong with eggs and vegetables, right?
The man hummed as he cooked, setting the finished food to the side on a plate.
Mara smiled softly when the delicious smells seeped through the wall and reached her. It wasn't too much longer before she crept out of her hidden corridor and onto the kitchen counter. Her eyes widened and her mouth watered as she saw all the food Darius was making for them.
