"Tonight." Lucas wrinkled his nose, for a split second showing his displeasure. He was getting sick of the constant dates, a new girl every couple of days. He had a reputation to uphold though, however tiresome.
"Tonight." Lucas wrinkled his nose, for a split second showing his displeasure. He was getting sick of the constant dates, a new girl every couple of days. He had a reputation to uphold though, however tiresome.
"Tonight," she repeated, writing the date at the top of the card. She looked up at him when she was finished and noticed the motion. "Is there something wrong, sir?" she asked worriedly, meeting his eyes.
"Nothing at all, love." He said, putting on his usual brilliant smile. "At least, unless you could manage to get me out of it." With that, he pushed off the desk, heading for his office.
"Would you like me to?" she asked as her walked away. When she realized just what she'd asked, her face turned light pink. Oh my God, Robin…
He paused, slowly turning to face her, an eyebrow raised. "I would, if you're willing. I can up your pay, since this isn't exactly included in your contract."
"Oh, you don't have to do that, sir," she said rather quickly, turning a deeper pink. Stupid, Robin, stupid stupid stupid…
"And you don't have to get me out of this." He reminded her, crossing his arms over his chest. "If you decide to, I'll make sure you get something out of it, too."
"You don't have to do anything for me, sir, it's not a problem…" Robin looked down at her lap, slightly embarrassed for even mentioning the idea of relieving the date from Mr. Knight's schedule.
"Well sure I do. Either that, or I owe you a favor." Lucas offered as an alternative, watching Robin. She'd been his assistant for years now, and still hadn't seemed to acclimate to the job quite all the way.
(Oh, I have an idea! So, the date gets cancelled, but the restaurant won't cancel Lucas's reservation. He takes Robin instead, and then we have some sexy fluff ;)
Robin looked up. "You really don't have to, sir…"
((Should I have him get a call now? 'Cause that's a brilliant plan))
(Okay. Would the call be from the girl saying she can't go, or the restaurant saying that he can't cancel?)
((He'd get a call from the girl, and then he'd try to cancel the reservation))
(Okay, go for it!)
Lucas shot her a playful smirk. "What kind of guy would I be if I didn't?" Anything else he was going to say was cut off by his cellphone ringing. He slid it out of his pocket, frowning down at the caller ID as he answered. "Well hello there~"
Robin blinked and watched him curiously. Her mind was spinning, trying to process who he was talking to.
"That is absolutely horrible." Lucas said, tugging a hand through his hair. "Do call and let me know if she's alright. No, no, it really isn't a problem. We can always reschedule, if you'd like."
His date? Robin thought, putting the pieces together rather quickly and proving her powerful intellect.
Lucas hung up the phone after a few more minutes, immediately looking for the number to the Palace. "She had to cancel, her mother was in a car accident. Nothing major, luckily."
"Oh my," Robin said worriedly. "I hope she's alright. Would you like me to call and cancel your reservation?"
"Yes, please." Lucas nodded. "She promised to let me know the extent of her mother's injuries at a later date, don't worry. Looks like you won't have to save me this time around, though."
Robin had the number of the Palace on speed dial, since Lucas was there so often and she was constantly confirming his reservations. "Hello, this is Robin Crest. I'm Mr. Lucas Knight's personal assistant, I–" Pause. "No, I was actually calling to cancel." Pause. "Why not?" A long pause here. "Oh. I see." Pause. "Yes, I'll let him know." Pause. "Yes, thank you." Robin hung up and looked back over at him. "You can't cancel, sir."
Lucas blinked, his hand pausing in his hair. "Why not? It's a reservation for two, and now there's only one person to go."
"They said that you supposedly already paid extra for the table, and they can't do a refund," she explained what she'd been told over the phone. "It's either you don't go and loose the money, or you find someone else to take." These had been the words from the Palace employee. She wasn't attempting to suggest anything.
Lucas muttered to himself as he thought, looking around to try and spark an idea. And then his eyes landed on Robin, lighting up with the makings of a plan. "What are you doing tonight?"
She blinked. "Um… working, sir."
"True, true. How would you like a change of scenery, though?" He raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised she hadn't quite gotten what he was getting to.
A change of scen– It struck her very suddenly. "Sir?"
"I'll pay, of course." He said, smile widening as it hit her. "And you'd still be doing your job, because you'd be with me."
She bit her lip hesitantly, thinking it over. The cap to her pen remained adorably tucked behind her ear.
