Yes, I know starting another rp when I've got a million and one to reply to is stupid, but I've got this dynamic I want to put into play. Think a hero that comes across as someone who'd make a great villain, and a villain who's the flip side of that.

Sun City is a city known for it's hero population, and on the flip side, it's villain population. And of course, that means everyone's got an arch-nemesis. For Top-Hero Specter, it's only natural that her biggest rival would be the villain playing the heads to her tails when it came to skill and popularity. They're well known rivals, enemies as heroes and civilians, even if they don't realize it.

Or, they were. That is, until a new threat appears, one that requires them to band together with a couple other supes in the city, in order to protect their home. What might that threat be, you ask? Well, they're still not too clear on that, but they're pretty sure blending a doomsday device and the most influential gang in the city isn't exactly a good idea.

Same rules as always, temp is on it's way.

Name: Tango Arden
Nickname/Alter Ego: Specter
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Appearance: Choppily cut dark red hair to a little below her shoulders, that blazes like a fire in direct sunlight. Occasionally has a streak or two of color, current is a white chunk in the front, on the right side of her face. Nobody's pointed out that her's always match Specter's, but if they did, she could just say that's where the inspiration came from. Tanned skin and covered in various scars.(Gains a few more during the rp.) Looks like she had both ears pierced at one point, but her left earring was literally yanked from her ear. 5’4 and some mix between muscular and curvy, leaning more on the muscled side. Her eyes are a strange and unnerving sort of yellow/green, almost like a cat. Speaking of cats, when light is shined on her eyes in the dark, they do the same reflective thing, sort of evidence that she can see really well in the dark. Keeps her nails painted black, and the polish is somehow always chipped, no matter what.
Usual Outfit(Costume and Civ):
Civ: A pair of military grade black combat boots that have definitely seen the world, and swaps between frayed jean shorts and black skinny jeans. Wears an older looking black leather bomber jacket with a couple Air Force patches on the sleeves. Prefers tank tops in solid colors, mainly black, which admittedly can make her look even eerier. Never takes off the chain around her neck with her mother’s dog tags on them. Can also be found in her school uniform, though when worn, the outfit usually looks sloppily tossed on, with the shirt only half tucked at the tie undone.
Costume: Black cargo pants over top a black catsuit of sorts with purple detailing. The pants are tucked into the combat boots mentioned above, and she does take off the dog tags to put them in her pockets. Fingerless black gloves, and a simple black mask that covers her eyes. Keeps various weapons on her person, both in civilian clothing and hero.
Personality: Can honestly seem scary as hell if you don’t know her, and she’s not making an effort to appear friendly and welcoming. Always watching literally everything, more so than any teenage girl should. She’s got an eidetic memory, and an incredible memory with faces and names, so she can remember everything. Every ghost, every person she’s met. She learned sign young, to keep from being seen as crazy when communicating with spirits in public, so she has a habit of what basically looks like muttering in sign, with her hands down at her sides. Analytical. She can pick apart every move and person she’s fighting with, when she does get into fights, and then use the training she’s had against them with sometimes scary results. Quick thinking, especially on her feet, and resourceful. Kinda…morally grey? Like, she’s obviously got morals, but it's usually hard to tell what is and isn’t pushing it or off limits when it comes to her sense of right and wrong.
Likes: Music, being helpful, pulling off a last minute and hasty plan, her cat, the small gang of ghosts that stick around her, Doritos, anything carbonated.
Dislikes: Vegetables, being alone(as in, no ghosts or people), more than one pillow, sleep.
Fears: Letting down the people she cares about, not being able to help someone, being killed by a ghost(they can touch and harm her), making a ghost, and small spaces.
Favorite…
Color: It's actually yellow, oddly enough.
Book:
Animal: Fond of crows, and other corvids.
Item: Her dog tags, or her jacket.
Place to be: The lab, because it's the closest place to home she's got, with her dad overseas.
Season: Summer. She always runs cold, likely thanks to the ghost thing, so the summer is always nice.
Number: 1
Weather: Despite loving the summer and the sun and everything warm, anything clear is good with her, because it allows her to stargaze. Though, she also happens to be fond of rain.
Word: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/764697211709412396/
Jobs: Top Hero, helping spirits, and does the occasional odd job for cash.
Theme Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV6pvII1eFU
Power: Despite the name, the public isn't actually sure what her abilities are. In fact, most of the reason the name sticks is because she's kind of scary and gets in and out of places so well, fairly unnoticed. But basically, her abilities are sort of a Necromancy type-deal. She can see, talk to, and help the dead pass on, and can even strengthen and give them corporeal forms. Beyond that, she isn't too sure what she can do.
Flaws: Generally not too warm, and very single minded. When she gets focused, there's literally no stopping her. Morally grey. Takes too much upon herself and doesn't trust others enough.
Other: She doesn’t smile a whole lot, and there’s a reason for that. Most of her smiles don’t quite reach her eyes unless she’s genuinely happy or amused, and it looks creepy. On that note, she’s got this…smile she does, and the best way to describe it is how her guidance counselor did when she was fifteen. ‘Baby eating’. It was mostly a joke, but it’s not too far off, looks wise…

((You're welcome to, yeah! I have to hit the hay soon, but that's the only hang up with anything. You've rped with me enough to know my usual rules, I'm hoping, so just fill out the temp and post your chara!))

Name: Indigo “Indi” Byers
Nickname/Alter Ego: Impulse
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: Indi has tanned skin with a soft dusting of freckles. Her eyes are amber in colour and, in the right light, look like a burning flame. Her hair is a deep purple with pale blue streaks interlacing in it.
Usual Outfit:
Civ – Jeans, t-shirt, boots, backpack
Costume – Indi started out as a hero. But, when she started to use her body manipulation powers, people started to see it differently. When she was labelled as a villain, she kept with it. But her costume remained the same. https://img00.deviantart.net/72be/i/2016/214/3/f/theflash__iris_west_as_flash_by_darklitria-dacepez.png (more blood red tho)
Personality: Quiet, closed off, gets annoyed easily; smart, sarcastic, complete opposite of Indi
Likes: Tango, reading, her mother, her aunt, her sister
Dislikes: Spectre, her father, her sister’s death
Fears: Pigeons, the death of her loved ones
Favourite…
• Colour: Blue
• Book: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
• Animal: Giant Squid
• Item: Her sister’s locket
• Place to be: Her bedroom
• Season: Winter
• Number: 8629
• Weather: Rainy; cold but not snowing
• Word: Fuck
Jobs: She works at the local 2nd hand bookstore, also works at her Aunt’s cake, Kara’s Kafe
Theme Song: Shadows by Sabrina Carpenter (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HIKvxRV3ls)
Power: Indi has two powers: super speed and body manipulation. Super speed is pretty self-explanatory. Body manipulation, however, is a different story. She can make you do something, such as she can’t make you slap yourself. She can, however, manipulate the insides, such as slowly restricting your airways and making your blood boil. Literally.
Flaws: She hates talking to people, she can get annoyed quickly.
Other: Her father left her mother when she was still quite young, her older sister Natalie died when she was 15.

(she ok?)

@croccin-champagne

She's good! Just one thing, can I get a few like, restrictions and negative side-effects of using the body manipulation? It'll help to know ways to avoid it, too, because if Specter has been fighting her for a bit, she'd have to learn those things as quick as possible.

Deleted user

(what would you suggest? cause i can't see any restrictions with a really straight forward power)

@croccin-champagne

((Restrictions like the energy it would take? For example, Tango's ability to strengthen ghosts saps a lot of energy, so she can only hold it for a few minutes before it starts to flicker, she has trouble standing and starts to get pale, and can even pass out.))

Deleted user

(um so i cant think of anything right now cause that particular thing wouldn't work for indi
im really busy rn with school so i dont have time to think of something
could we maybe start and then ill come up with something?)

Deleted user

(thanks. and no, i get it. just…some powers are too straight forward to have restrictions)

@croccin-champagne

This was bad. This was really, really bad. The streetlights and alleyways passed by in a blur as Tango hurried as fast as she possibly could, trying not to crash into anything. She could only see out of one eye at this point, and despite her natural ability to see in the dark incredibly well, the shadows of the streets she always used to travel weren't helping that fact.

She wasn't sure where she was going. Maybe the lab, though she wasn't sure she could handle Doc's rapid paced questions right now. All she knew was that she needed to move fast, in case they were following her. And avoiding a run in with anyone while Specter would be best, too. The Top Hero was supposed to be untouchable, and her injuries made it very obvious she wasn't invincible. What would be even worse would be coming upon some villain, after that escape.

The seventeen year old was well aware of the sight she must have been, as she hurried through the back alleys and darkly lit streets of her city. Her costume was intact enough to make her recognizable, but that was about it, her cargo pants in tatters and the catsuit visible shredded in places, everything stained with blood. And that was before getting to her face. The bloodied and damp fabric pressed over her right eyes drew the most attention, though the bloody nose and split lip came next. She'd ripped the fabric from one of her pant legs, needing something to stop the heavy blood flow as best as she could, and quick. She hadn't just taken a beating, she'd been obviously tortured, and looked damn close to the ghosts she saw on a daily basis. Just a bit farther. Then you can rest.

That wouldn't be possible though, apparently, because in her haste, Tango had failed to notice the other person on the sidewalk. The exact person she was literally running into now.

Indi was simply walking along, nose in her book. She had just finished the late night shift at Kara's Kafe and was heading home. When someone ran into her, she was thrown onto the floor, her book skidding away. She looked up to see who ran into her, annoyed. When she saw it was Spectre, she had to make a split second decision. Change into Impulse, or stay as Indi and get her later. As Spectre started to stand up, she decided on the latter.

@croccin-champagne

Tango hissed in pain as she hit the ground, pushing to her feet as soon as she could and reaching blindly for the fabric that had fallen from her hands. She couldn't find it. Hands shaking just slightly, she tore another strip from her pants, pressing it to her eye as she tried to focus on the person she's knocked down. Wait a minute, is that-Indi. Shit. "My bad." She muttered. Even as a hero, she wasn't much one for apologies, and that was the closest she could get. She looked around, eyes landing on Emmy as the poltergeist appeared suddenly. That meant she was done with…whatever it was she had done to the men.

Deleted user

Indi started stand up, annoyed. I guess a hero is too up their arse to help a civilian, She thought to herself. "You should watch where you're going," She joked, trying to act scared. She wasn't intimidated by Spectre, but the rest of the city was, so she had to act accordingly. "You might run into Impulse if you're not careful." Oh, the irony in that sentence. Everyone was scared of Impulse, no one was scared of Indi. They didn't know what she was capable of. She liked to keep it that way.

@croccin-champagne

"Impulse is the least of my worries right now." Tango said, one eerie eye continuing to study Indi from behind the half of her mask left. What was her classmate doing out here, at this time of night? "You shouldn't be out this late. It's not safe." There were the hero-like qualities, the ones that showed themselves in slightly dubious ways and never enough, but just enough to keep her from being shunned. Emmy signed at her out of the corner of her eye, and Tango's free hand moved and twisted in response at her side.

Deleted user

"Um, I just finished off the night shift at my aunt's cafe, no biggie." She masked her annoyance at being in the presence of her enemy and not being able to fight her. "You don't need to worry about me. I can handle myself. And…it appears that you're trying to communicate with a being that's not there, adding to the rumour that you've lost it, so I won't keep you."

@croccin-champagne

"Not communicating, simply thinking." She said easily, her expression never changing. Of course there were rumors she'd lost it. The world was barely ready for superhuman beings, let alone the knowledge that sometimes, the dead didn't leave. "I'd get hoe if I were you." Her voice softened somewhat, as did what of her face was visible despite the blood, fabric, and mask. "It's really, really not safe out tonight." Emmy nudged her gently, before motioning for her to hurry. Tango shook her head slightly, turning to continue the way she'd been going.

Deleted user

Indi stayed where she was. "I told you. I can handle myself." She watched as Spectre began to walk away. Oh, how she wanted to fight her. How she wanted to let out her anger. Spectre was her perfect match. No one else could make her feel the same. Strong. Confident. Perfect.

@croccin-champagne

"Hubris. Be careful." Tango stumbled slightly as a flash of sharp pain hit her eye, Emmy the only thing keeping her from falling over. As she straightened once more, there was a sound very, very much like that of an explosion, from somewhere to the North. Her head shot towards the sound, already moving towards the sound despite Emmy's attempts to dissuade her. She cast a look over at Indi, before slipping into an alleyway. Despite her own injuries, she'd lay her life on the line in a split second to keep others safe.
