It's a normal day at work: you're taking a break in the back of a deserted Burger-King, your college part-time job.
It's dark, but the stars are beautiful. Sometimes being surrounded by nothing but soybeans and shoulder-high corn has its benefits.
However, come morning, you're as gone as the moon.

Strange love story between a black-market organ reaper and their ex-victim. Together they struggle for a better life, fighting against other black market mobsters and competing reapers.

Name: Arizona “Ari” Sterling
Age(20-35): 20
Gender: female
Sexuality: straight but questioning
Appearance: Ari has brunette hair usually kept in a pony tail or low bun, angular face shape, common hazel eyes, usually wears glasses, average healthy weight but on the heavier side from an underlying health issue (keeps her weight/health in check by staying active. It’s a struggle sometimes). Her usual outfit is a long sleeved, black NASA shirt, ripped jean jacket, and shorts
Personality: generally affable and cordial, a bit naive to people’s intentions, shy in places she hasn’t been to or isn’t comfortable, she isn’t very confident in social situations, and doubts her words or worries if she said something wrong (yet self-centered in the fact she’s worried how other people view her), very patient with discipline, a “rule-follower.” While she doesn’t do well on written tests, she’s highly observant and analyzes people’s body language. When she gets excited about subjects she’s passionate about (astronomy, cat psychology), she can get very defensive and belligerent if someone disagrees with her facts

Ok, finally, a break!)

Name: Atlas Miranda
Age: 25
Gender: M
Sexuality: on the brink of asexual, mostly because of childhood associations. No trauma, just a social discomfort with physical contact.
Appearance: dark, nearly black hair, down to his shoulders. Chestnut brown eyes, with hooded lids that make him look vaguely angry on a constant basis. Thin lips, with a slightly larger lower. Very lanky and scraggly, usually dressed in dark. The most colorful thing he wears is rose gold aviator sunglasses.
Personality: indifferent, pessimistic, logical. Borderline sociopath, has an embarrassing soft spot for vulnerable kids. Keenly intelligent in human anatomy and most chemicals, but otherwise could use some education.

In the middle of Bargersville, you'll find nothing but a Hispanic family grocery store, a neighborhood consisting of four houses, and a Burger King.
It was midnight, and that meant it was time for the streetlights to shine: lazy, with a half-hearted orange glow that hardly stretched down to the pavement-gravel roads. There were almost never cars and when there were, the impossible crunch of dusty gravel made being furtive quite the experience. People considered this a safe tactic, listening for gravel to sign a newcomer, because everyone, intelligently, walked.

The air conditioning was broken in the fast-food restaurant but luckily for the single employee on staff, the night was cool enough that if one opened the windows it would suffice. It was never busy enough here for the kitchen to cause a cloud of heat, and thus, no problem, meant no drive to call a maintenance guy.

It was quiet. But at least there was the company of the radio with a single station and the soft buzz of flies.

Ari sat behind the counter on a chair she had pulled up from the breakroom. At midnight not many customers came to order a burger and fries or a kids meal, so she amused herself by scrolling through Twitter and Pinterest memes on her phone. As the night dragged on, boredom and the muggy heat got the better of her. She pushed the chair back, which elicited a horrid scirrrt against the floor, metal against cement.

The twenty year old stepped out the back breakroom door into the outside. She breathed a long breath of relief and pulled out a pack of cigarettes from her pocket. She never smoked often, but on long night shifts like these she needed something to keep her awake and alert. But of course, like the rule follower she was, and as a habit, she leaned against the wall eight feet from the entrance, even if there was no one else there.

Cricket song rang in the distance. The nearest sling of forest was miles away, shoulder-deep in an ocean of corn. Summer nights were full of life and yet, so still.
Out here, so far from cities, the stars seemed so vivid.

Ari sighed happily as she lit the end of her cigarette, perfectly content to enjoy the fresh summer air. She couldn’t think of a better place to be, well, maybe home with a cup of coffee and book—but other than that there was nothing better.

One may have thought it a particularly painful bug bite at first, when a sharp, alarming sting struck her leg. The frustrated human curse from the shadows, though, lent that it was more. And, maybe, the obvious, red, game-tranquilizing dart.

Ari yelped at the sudden sting, instinctively pulling her leg up to see what had caused the terrible pain. She squinted at the dart, her heart suddenly beating faster with the realizing that something ominous was going on. She didn’t get much farther in the thought before the drug began to make her woozy and inhibiting her ability to think.

The gravel scraped under the stranger's shoes, they stood in front of the floodlight staring down at Ari. Her in the shadow, their face unseen in a veil of nighttime black.

"Are you serious…" A voice mumbled, fuzzy in her head. That, and the sharpening sensation of being very cold. "I'm… How did…." The strange male voice mumbled.
