Okay, then!
• Two people live in a city in which those with magic are found, beaten, killed, or worse. They try to hide their magic, but doing so can end up in severe discomfort and, if held for long enough, death.
• There are three different kingdoms left after a really destructive war. The first is the Kingdom of the Sky, the second is The Sunken City, and the third is the Desert Palace. All three are trying to build themselves up, but a new threat—a dangerous villain—is threatening to destroy the peace.
• Magic is hard to come by. It can only be found when desperate, particularly once situations of great struggle. Our characters find themselves on different sides of a situation, like a kidnapping, drug den, etc. that drives them to unlock their inner selves.
• Brawling with the use of certain enhanced abilities is common in the country of Astropia. Thousands of people come to watch certain fights, and they’re almost always entertained. Our characters, two battlers, meet one day on the battlefield. They’ve heard of each other, but neither expected what they get.

There’s a few starter themes! Any catch your eye?

@EllaErransmith

The first was actually probably my favorite. I think it’d Ben interesting if there was also a class aspect to it, you know? Like, anyone who might have been born from parents with magic—or anybody who was related to a witch or sorcerer—would be kept economically poor. This would make it hard for them to sustain any lifestyle, efficiently killing off those with even a chance of having magic. And those that resist, particularly people with large, visible amounts of magic, would be straight out murdered in the town squares.

Awesome, thanks
Any necessities? What’s the age limit? What genders are we looking at? If this is going to end up being a romance, are we going straight or gay?

@EllaErransmith

I kind of want to do a young 20s or late teens one for this. Which do you prefer? This also might sound kind of strange, but I’ve had a guy character in mind for a little while that I haven’t used in any other chat because he didn’t quite work well for it. Whether we choose a straight or gay romance is up to you! Also, I didn’t mention this earlier, but I think this should take place on Earth if things had gone a little differently (if magic actually existed). The Salem Witch Trials and similar events should have still happened, but they should have been to persecute actually witches and sorcerers rather than innocent women. That being said, I don’t know if our technology should be advanced yet. In my mind, I’m kind of thinking our characters could live in the United States, but the Northeast side because the U.S. should have actually split during the Civil War. Would you mind a bit more of an early 1900s vibe?

@EllaErransmith

I don’t know how you feel about mature stuff—in this case I’m talking about sexual things—but that probably won’t be a problem for a while anyway, so we could always talk about it then.

@blue_topaz

Your ideas sound great, I’m all for them! My character will probably be in the 19-21 age range, if that’s okay
As far as sex goes, I’d prefer if we didn’t do any, but in terms of other mature topics like gore, swearing, self-harm, etc I’m cool with them

@EllaErransmith

Start making my character, that is. I think we should try and start with a basic form that has name, age, looks, magic type, and any details we find important. Also, gender, sexuality, defining features (like scars or birthmarks), and family/basic backstory. Does that sound good to you?

@EllaErransmith

Name: Nathaniel Clarke
Age: 20
Gender/Sexuality: He’s a cisgender male that’s never really had to consider romance much before. If he had to say, he would honestly not base his love life off of certain genders.
Looks: Nathan’s body is rather odd for a young man. He’s about 6’4” with broad shoulders and a body that’s thick and strong without being heavily muscled (so not a bodybuilder look). There is a long, swirling tattoo up his left arm that extends to part of his chest, a tiny inking of some birds flying on his back shoulder, and a small pattern on his right hand. As for his face, he’s always been attractive in a bit of a non conventional way. His gray eyes are typically sunken with exhaustion. He has a short brown beard and messy, somewhat curly, ear-length hair to match. Back when he was younger a couple of different people would call him cute, but his rounder face, expressionless mouth, and square jaw as an adult only draw nothing but bored glances. He wears clothes of a more ragged nature, sometimes even to the point where his skin can be seen through holes in his shirts and pants.
Magic Type- He’s not completely sure. All he knows is that he can create things out of the ground.
Defining Features- He always wears his family’s bronze arm braces that were passed down throughout the decades. There are some scars from fighting on his torso, arms, and legs.
Family- He was raised by his father alone (but he passed away about a year before our story begins). The only family he has left is his aunt, who’s disowned him, and his two younger sisters. Annabeth’s two years younger than him but twice as feisty and clever, and Belladonna’s a fifteen-year-old with the blood of a warrior. Bella has a different mother than him and Annabeth.
Extra- He had severe asthma as a young child, but mostly got over it once in his adult years. Nathan’s more interested in reading than fighting, despite often having to brawl on the streets for food and money. He’s never had that many close friends, not even in his father’s old house, and he’s mainly too busy to try for a romantic relationship. Annabeth has always encouraged him to put himself out there. His favorite pastime is going to the bakery of one of his only friends, Clarissa, and helping out.

Here’s the boy! What do you think?

@blue_topaz

Name: Dara Caitlin Walsh
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Sexuality: bisexual (closeted to the extreme, has, over time, come to terms with it)
Appearance: Thick, dark brown hair cut short, sort of permanently messy, almost layered, and semi-fluffy. She wears a wig on top to disguise the unacceptable haircut (though it wasn’t her choice, her aunt forcefully shaved it off for reasons I will reveal as we roleplay) that’s roughly the same colour, but falls down to just above the midpoint of her chest in loose waves, in a middle part and a slight fringe. When working, she keeps it in either a ponytail or a braid. Tan skin with a darker, flushed undertone around her cheeks, nose, and shoulders, the sort of thin lips that are more skin than pink flesh, an impish smile, acne scars (believe it or not, acne is not a modern development) on the lower sides of her face towards her jawline, deep burgundy eyes that reflect the light. Shorter than average, about 5’6’’, with a more rectangular body shape, very slight curves. This can be used as a guideline (minus the clothing): https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/AamluAQ1zAdOd7OUNIA1iXsseFDFRQpwllOi-kpSQMnrp0D_X250_6c/
General Attire: Mostly browns and deep maroons, wears trousers as much as possible. No loose clothing, since it gets in the way of her job, usually simple tops and bottoms. She always wears a tarnished bronze cross on a slim chain beneath her shirt, as well as a simple bronze ring on her right ring finger.
Personality: A bit of a tomboy (but suppresses it because of the strict social structures of the era), more headstrong than most people like, not afraid to speak her mind or protest. She’s not completely muleheaded, though, and knows when to hold her tongue, her sense of logic isn’t impaired. Angers quickly, fiercely protective, keeps her chin up and her eyes focused on the endgame. Knows how to plan ahead but isn’t terribly organized, ambitious, can be cunning and sly.
Magic Type: Temperature manipulation, specifically heat, and also being able to tell people's emotions and (with difficulty) manipulate them
Other: An accent somewhere between Irish and British. Ran away from home several times only to be brought back, her parents left her with her (abusive) aunt when she was eleven. She was an accident, never really desired by her mother and father, and an only child, since her little brother died at birth. She sees him sometimes, but is unsure whether or not he's real

(is she okay? sorry my template's different from yours)

@EllaErransmith

She’s fine! I like the details in her look, and her personality is going to remind Nathan of his younger sisters. I think it’s wonderful!

@blue_topaz

Awesome, thanks! so, how exactly do you want to go about this?
shite I'll remove the veterinarian part that was for another rp

@EllaErransmith

I think we should first come upcountry with our scenario. I had an idea that my guy could have been found out as a magician after trying to take some bread from a store and, as a result, being beaten in one of the town squares.

@EllaErransmith

No, unless they eventually went to a protected village in which magic people were allowed. Then they could fight, but it’s not a good idea to draw attention to themselves otherwise.
