So, it's a guy and a girl who are bf & gf. The girl gets kidnapped one day and the search begins. After several months without news of her whereabout (no ransom or anything), the authorities give up search. The next day, she returns, standing at the bus stop, looking normal. Except for her eyes, which are now murky grey. Oh, and the fact that she hardly remembers anything from before the kidnapping and her entire reality has been warped.

Kate hummed to herself as she waited for Auggie at the bus stop. Where was he?
August sprinted through the streets in a panicked state. I'm going to miss the bus!
Kate saw Auggie sprinting up the street and giggled. "Hurry up, slow poke!" she called with a grin.
"I'm faster than you!", he said as he softly pushed her.
“Then how come I was here before you?” She pointed out, poking his nose when she said ‘you’.
"…Because?", August said while racking his brain for a better reason.
“Exactly,” she said, pecking his lips with a quick kiss.
"I'm still faster!", he said triumphantly, but lost some his usual defensiveness from the kiss. He hugged her.
Kate curled into him. She'd let the argument die.
The bus stopped where they were and people rushed to get in. August took Kate's hand and got in.
Kate followed August until the two of them found a seat to share. She rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.
He put his arm around her. "Are you feeling okay?"
