  1. A love triangle cliché! This could cause tension among a group of people (though I tend to get irritated with love triangles I don't know about you).

  2. Conflicting opinions on things! (Big things, like "what should we do" questions reference Marvel's Captain America: Civil War).

  3. Emotional handicap time! It's another decision-making one. One person wants to go off to save someone they care about—(friend, romantic interest, family member)—or find a long-lost friend/family member (maybe one of those extra dramatic ones where they were presumed dead but then they're not)—but it's not convenient for thwarting whatever evil they're thwarting and could possibly put the entire plan for evil-thwarting at jeopardy. (This is similar to option 2 but not quite the same).

  4. Betrayal! A friend, family member, or love interest has been lying to a character and/or keeping things from them. They're not necessarily a traitor (or cheating on the character, in the love interest's case) but there's the lack of trust/breaking of trust in the act of withholding information/lying.

  5. Loss! The group experiences a loss of some sort and people deal with it differently, resulting in tension and/or conflict. Or: one person experiences a loss of some sort and the way they deal with the loss creates conflict between characters and/or it gets in the way of their plans to thwart the evil which in turn creates conflict.

I hope this helps! Good luck with your story :)
