So I realized that my character didn't have any plans to develop any romantic interests. I decided that I wanted to include that in my story (the story itself is extremely dark and depressing, it could use some happy things) and I have two choices for the main character (Alex). She can develop a romantic interest in Polar, who is a human-sabertooth hybrid that was created during an experiments in a lab. There's also Aria, who looks completely human, except for the fact that she has galaxy eyes. Polar would probably bring Alex more happiness than Aria could, but at the same time I want to include LGBT+ representation in my story. What do you guys think?

While I fully support LGBTQ+ and its representation in stories, I think that romance between characters should be more natural and about who the characters themselves are, not about forcing something to have certain content. If the characters match and feel like they should be LGBTQ+, then go for it! But if Polar and Alex are a better match, then I'd put them together.

There's my two cents—good luck with your story! :)

@FantaPop

If she has more chemistry with Polar, I'd definitely go with that option. If you wanted to include a bit of representation, though, you could mention that she finds Aria attractive as well? There's not a lot of books I've found with a bi protagonist.

If you think there would be more chemistry with Polar, then I'd say go with him. Though you could always have a polyamorous situation where she dates both of them.

Never force your charachter to do anything that doesn't come naturally. I fully support your want to include LGBTQ, but always do what is best for the charachter. You might try Aria with a side charachter that she has more chemestry with, just for the diversity.
