I'm writing a story where Main Character can jump to other worlds. I know I want her to use a portal, and these portals need keys, but I can't decide what that key is.
I've heard of pens, scissors, watches, wells, and, of course, keys, being able to unlock them.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
A phase or quote, rings, something valuable to the person, money, food or a person sound like options that I would use.
Oh! Forgotten items like books that used to be used to open secret hallways in houses, and lamps too! Maybe like if you even want to time skip you have to find like a ha' penny made in the 1800s owned by some British famous dude, if you want like deets and stuff.
