So I had this idea that people should work on each idea of theirs one at a time, but as I grew older, I realize that I’m finding it difficult to focus on one idea. Is it wrong to have multiple works in progress, or should I just stick to my ‘one at a time’ rule?

I know that I have MANY works in progress, and I can't seem to stick to one idea for very long. What I usually do is write down the idea, and if I HAVE to write about it, then I do. But usually, I have one major work in progress that I wish to finish. So, to answer your question, it's totally okay to have multiple works in progress- you just have a lot of ideas that you want to write about.

I have the opposite of this, i cant seem to move on from one story. Im always finding ways to improve and edit the story, characters, and more. I draw the characters constantly and I even buy random things at the store that reminds me of a character. How do I move on?!!!

@Smallfry

I found that if I want to write a story about different characters I start by thinking about someone they hate that does not really appear but is maybe in a memory and I will write something about what happened to them and maybe they remember my other character maybe they don't even remember the encounter but for me I then end up with some story about this new character that I can develop.

I have tons of stories in progress. Whenever I get inspiration for the next part of one of them I go and write it. Sometimes though if it's a shorter story and I feel like I just have to write it, I do it all in one go. I've got over half a dozen unfinished stories right now. I haven't abandoned them or anything I'm just not sure what to do next yet. I used to just have one story I was working on but then I kept getting ideas for other things and I finally broke down and started writing them, too, because it was driving me crazy not writing them.

Really it comes down to what you're comfortable with. If you like having just one thing you're working on at a time, then stick to that, but it is in no way wrong to write multiple things at once.
