I'm a but stumped on adding some more detail to my plot and I realized I don't really have any subplots. So what are your favorite subplots to read or write in preferably a fantasy or sci-fi setting?

Some random ideas:

• learning a new skill or language
• bonding with a child
• a rivalry
• bonding with a pet
• reconciling with estranged family members
• visiting old friends
• exploring a new home
• healing from a big injury
• doing research or reconnaisance
• inventing something new
• teaching someone else a skill
• spying on someone suspicious/trying to solve a mystery
• losing a mentor figure
• coping with a new job or assignment

whatever fits with and moves along the plot you have, I guess

Thank you, most of these could actually fit with my story so i'll write them down
