So, I created this fantasy world and nearly all my stories are going to be based in it. But if it's my own world and Earth does exist in the stories (travel aka portals, can happen), I feel weird using Monday or June. I mean, I feel as though I should have my own days and months, but I have no idea where to start.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Well, I would suggest using Moons and Dawns to signify months and days. That's what I find is the easiest for others to understand. But, if you were to not do those but go off of them, I would suggest using the Latin words for them.

That's a good idea. Haha, to be honest I love using Latin words. I have a race of sorcerers that are divided into clans and most of the clans have latin names. I love the latin language and am fascinated by strange words. I'll do some more researching on the idea.

Have your months make sense! Don't be like us with our strange Gregorian calendar! Isn't it weird how we have alternating months with 30 or 31 days, but February has only 28? Or how Leap Years give February 29 days? Or how July and August BOTH have 31 days? Why the hell did we ever listen to those Romans? What did they know? They stabbed their best leader, and not everyone did their job!

If anything, you could make a base-4 or base-10 time system, with the months and days all being even. It would at least make sense to your inhabitants.

For my stories I just use the Gregorian calendar but the months don't really have names. They just go by number, so instead of saying "Today is February 6th" they would say "Today is the 6th day of the 2nd month" or "Today is the 6th of the 2nd." It's a little bit wordy, but it's just easier for me that way (and in my stories it's not something that really comes up very often).

Haven't really put much thought into days, but I think @SleepySnake had some good advice.

Maybe name the months for what's being done in that month. E.g. harvest month, sowing month, etc. (these are for farming obviously, if your culture has other important things to do, you can refer to that!) This will also give readers at least a general idea of what season they're in. Or just counting in their language, like september through december. Or maybe something referring to their gods. I think you can also do something similar with the weekdays.
