I've come to the realization that I haven't actually sat down, read, and enjoyed a book series since 10-year-old me's Nancy Drew phase, and since I'm trying to write my own stories, I think I should probably get back into reading…

I'm hoping to someday turn my story thing into a webcomic, so I'm mostly looking for comic recommendations, although if you have any regular books or audiobooks you think I'd like please mention them~
I'll read just about anything, from horror to adventure to badly written comedy, as long as it's safe enough that my mom won't kill me. (Considering my current favorite webcomic is GhostBlade, I don't think you need to worry too much)

So yeah. Basically, just throw comics at me so I can read stuff. Thanks.

@ninja_violinist

For manga, I can recommend looking up Akatsuki no Yona! It's a really cool story, really cool artwork, and as far as I can remember it shouldn't have anything too crass. It's a fantasy/adventure/rom-com type thing.

I don't know if you're into Avatar: the Last Airbender at all, but if you are then there are also those comics in between the series which are really fun.

@GoodThingGoing group

For graphic novels:

  • Smile, Ghosts, Drama, and Sisters by Raina Telgemeier
  • Roller Girl and All's Faire by Victoria Jamieson
  • El Deafo by Cece Bell
  • Fake Blood by Whitney Gardener
  • Nimona by Noelle Stevenson (may also be a webcomic?)
  • Making Friends by Kristen Gudsnek

Honestly anything by Raina Telgemeier is really good, both plot-wise and artwise.

If you're into Star Wars, Kanan: The Last Padawan, the Lost Stars manga, Doctor Aphra (1st volume is the best), and Princess Leia are all really good comics!

i'm gonna bump this like 10 months later cause bored

can't get to a library cause corona so if there's anything i can read online that would be very great

(also thank you guys, i've been reading a few of your recommendations and i hecking love them so far-)

@Anemone eco

Umm, manga. Uh… I don't know what you are and are not really allowed when it comes to cursing or gore or stuff like that… but… There's Attack on Titan(including No Regrets, Lost Girls, and Before the Fall), Black Butler, Fullmetal Alchemist & Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, One Piece, and Fairy Tail. That's just a few though.

And for graphic novels, I loved Lost At Sea! There is a lot of cursing though.

@MarDeColores this is not it kids

There's a lovely comic called The Glass Scientists– just Google it, and it should come up. The art is amazing, and the story is so fun!
A graphic novel that I really love is The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang.

Some beautiful ongoing fantasy/dystopian webcomics that I read and love:
Stand Still, Stay Silent (Fair warning, it's pretty gory at times, but also surprisingly light-hearted and there's some amazing worldbuilding. Also it's about a global pandemic but with magic involved)
Romantically Apocalyptic (A long, hilarious, absolutely insane read with really interesting photomanip-style art. If you prefer a steady story arc that makes sense the whole way through, don't read this one lol)
Sfeer Theory (I haven't checked on this one in a while so Idk how it's going, but the magic system's really cool and the characters are so much fun XD)
Far to the North (Nordic fantasy I guess? The kick-butt main character ends up falling in love with a dragon man and hijinks ensue.)
Tigress Queen (It's by the same person who's making Far to the North, and is currently undergoing a remake. I forget the actual plot, but if you like one of the comics you'll probably like the other.)
Lackadaisy (A historical comic set in….the 20's, I think? It's New Orleans during the Prohibition and the main characters are a bunch of loveable criminals trying to survive in a very dangerous situation. Also everyone's a cat lol. The humor and art are on point, and the artist really did her research. They're actually making an animated short based on the story, last I heard.)
Lillith's Word (Again, beautiful art and an interesting story. Not much to say about this one but essentially the goddess Lillith and her brother are traveling from world to world, having adventures.)
Raruurien (A super sweet story about a single mom in a magical world caring for her two sons, one of whom is recovering from a terrible sickness. Fricking adorable art, very visually soothing <3)
If I think of any more I'll add them later! Happy reading! ^^
