@Starfast group

I've had a couple people express an interest so here is, the notebook.ai Secret Santa thread!

This will work like just like any other secret Santa, but we’re going to be giving each other art of our stuff. I originally was just going to make this a character art trade, but I've decided to allow anything else that you have on your notebook profiles that you'd like art of (so if you want art of a setting, creature, etc. that's fine as well. From here on out any time I refer to characters, it will also apply to any other thing that you'd like art of).

This event is open to everyone, regardless of skill, style or medium so please don’t feel like you can’t participate because you’re not good enough. Traditional art is also more than welcome, as long as the final product isn't super blurry or shadowy.

In order to ensure that everyone gets art, I’m also need some back up artists. If you can’t finish your drawing for any reason whatsoever, just let me know and I’ll have a backup artist fill in for you. You can sign up to be a backup artist without participating in the event, and I’ll give any backup artists extra time to finish up.

To sign up, just fill out the following:

Characters: (you may submit a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 things that you would like to receive art of).
Want to be a backup drawer: Yes/No
Anything about your character(s) that your Santa to be aware of: This part is optional, but if there’s any details that aren’t listed on your page that you want your this is where you would put them.

A few more quick rules:

  • Please make sure that your pages are set to public so that your Santa can see them
  • Your character must have enough details on their profile for your Santa to draw them. This can be either a very detailed written description or a visual (or both). I'd recommend checking over your pages just to make sure your pages have enough information.
  • You are only obligated to draw one thing for your person. You may draw more if you want, but there's no guarantee that you will get the same amount of art in return.
  • If you are super close to finishing but won’t be able to have it finished by the deadline you’ll be given a grace period to finish up without a backup artist. Try to have a WIP ready to post so that the person your drawing for still gets something.
  • You will be responsible for posting your own art on the deadline. If your going to be busy than you can send it to me and I can post it on your behalf.
  • This is my first time hosting something like this, so please bear with me.

Sign ups will close on Tuesday December 11th at 11:59 PST I may extend this deadline if we don't have enough people (I'm hoping for at least 5).

All art will be posted on December 25th, so please finish your art before then.

@SaltyLasagna

Hi! I'd like to sign up for this but can't do it right now.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I know it says that skill level doesn't matter, but I was to again emphasize how much your art skill level doesn't matter. I don't care how it looks, if somebody wants to draw my character, I will love it!! I won't judge your art style in any way because I'd just be flattered that somebody chose to draw my character!

@Starfast group

In regards to the deadline, I'm trying to decide what would be the best option. I've come up with a couple options and I'd like to know what you guys think would be best:

A) Everyone submits on December 25th. Pros: Everyone gets art at the same time. Cons: Some people may be busy and may not be able to submit on their own
B) Everyone can submit art at any time between Dec 20th-25th. Pros: This will allow anyone who is busy to post on their own behalf (hopefully). Cons: Everyone gets art at different times. I've been in a trade like this and my person waited until like the last possible second to get their art to me and I was kinda worried that they had forgotten and I'd like to minimize that as much as I can.

Let me know which one you guys prefer and we'll go with the majority.

This is a great idea!

If you want to upload images, you can always create a character page and upload images that way. You can then share either just the image (by right clicking on it and getting its URL to share), or share the entire page (which includes the image[s]). :)

I would also like to participate! Will we be randomly (and privately) assigned other users like a real Secret Santa? Because if so, maybe we could give a few days' window to submit, and have a sort of mediator over it who can give them out on Christmas? Then everyone has to guess who gave it to them?

@Starfast group

Yeah, everyone will be randomly assigned someone. Once entries close I'll pm everyone with who they have and what they'd like to you draw.

Can we make 20-31st December?

The problem with that is that I'm going to be away from the 26th to 7th and I can't guarantee that I'll be able to check the site during that time. I'd like to ideally have everything done, or at least all sorted out before I go away just so I don't have to worry about this while I'm gone.

also, if anyone is for sure entering I need you to fill out the following:

Characters: (you may submit a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 things that you would like to receive art of).

When I draw names I need to be able to tell the person with your name what you want them to draw so it's really important that you actually do this instead of just saying that you'd like to participate.

Why not send the host all the finished images whenever they are finished by a deadline then the host uses andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s suggestion to get all the images in one place so at the end everyone can see all the artwork at the same time (by the 25th).

@Starfast group

Also which timezone?

Everything is going to be in PST. It's easier for me to keep track of deadlines when it's in my own timezone (less likely to forget about them). For all you guys in different time zones, you can use this site to figure out what time everything will be happening https://www.thetimezoneconverter.com/

Yeah, I'll maybe consider this as well.

Ok, I've been thinking about this and the main problem I have with it is that I can't seem to find a way to add a caption to an image and I'd rather not have people guess who drew for them. Like, at the end of the trade I'd like for everyone to know with 100% certainty who had their name.

I came up with a sort of alternative where I could post a sneak peak of all the received submissions at a certain point (I'm thinking maybe on the 18th, which is a week before Christmas). It would just be a small snapshot of each drawing so that we kind of know what to expect but not enough to know what's going on in the full image. I'm talking about something like this:

(maybe a little smaller though. I didn't realize how huge this was when I was editing it).
Then on Christmas day we would reveal the full drawings, along with whose name everyone had. This could also be an optional thing just in case there's anyone who wants their drawing to be a complete surprise.

Alright I have my hands way too full for this but

Characters:

Want to be a backup drawer: Yes
Anything about your character(s) that your Santa to be aware of: Try not to wander from these refs please
Louise has talons, rarely smiles, pretty angry
Mara's ears are moveable, she also has a hood and mask that can be seen in other images, emotionless
Echo has a helm seen here https://toyhou.se/1645663.echo#8070213 also expressionless mostly
CC is just angry

Sorry about the website. My notebook profiles aren't finished yet

^ Do you want to just be a backup artist or would you like to participate in the trade as well? If you want to participate in the trade, I'll need you to fill out the form the way that @Reblod did.

You guys, I cannot stress this enough. PLEASE fill out the form. When I draw names I'm going to PM everyone with who they have, along with what they would like to have drawn. It's not just something I'm making you guys do for the sake of it. For anyone just asking if they can participate, the answer is a tentative no until you fill it out.

If you want in then please. Fill. Out. The. Form.

Also, since only one person has answered so far, I guess all entries are going to be due on the 25th.

I'd prefer to just be a backup artist if that's okay
