A girl discovers an additive in the food supply that keeps the population tired, sick, and foggy-headed. After she stops eating the additive and “wakes up,” her success and seemingly super-human abilities draws the attention of the authorities who offer compelling reasons why she should keep her silence. When the higher-ups converge on her, she is saved by another one of the "Woken," a group of aware people who have learned how to filter their food and keep themselves sentient. The Woken's plan is to take down the government and keep the food pure, but when someone from the inside rats them out, they are forced on the run.

(Of course! I'd like to be the person who saves the girl)

(DO you want a template, or are you alright with going in blind?)

The agents were getting close. They could damn near sense it. All they had was a description and a city, and here they are, standing in front of an apartment complex with guns drawn.
"Clean sweep," they said simultaneously, ignoring the crowd of people moving past them.
They walked inside, not even getting a passing glace for their weapons. They made it to the first room and kicked down the door, steeping inside with their weapons out.
"Where are you, girl?" the bigger one asked as the shuffled through the apartment. Nothin'.
they moved onto the 2nd room. Still nothing. Then, the door opened for the third, and out walked their target. The Woken girl.

There was Zyra Everett, in all her glory. Well, that was at least what she wanted to say. She looked like she hadn't gotten any sleep and was on the verge of collapsing at any moment, and her dark circles pointed that out even more. Her wavy black hair was in a messy bun, her dark brown eyes looking tired and her glasses slowly slipping off her nose. She pushed up her glasses and glanced at the men in front of her, trying her best not to lose any of her papers. "Do you need anything?"

"You need to stay where you are," the smaller one growled as they both raised their pistols in her direction. "And close your eyes, hun. It makes it easier."

Zyra gasped dramatically in surprise. "Are you going to shoot me? Can you push me off the building instead? It won't look that suspicious or weird then." She asked, her eyes darting around the place to see how she could get out of this situation.

Deleted user

"You think anyone here will remember if we shot you?" they said in unison, laughing sarcastically. "Now, just stay still…."
There was no need for her to run, however. Just as they appeared to squeeze the trigger, a figure came sprinting around the corner of the hall and slammed full-tilt into their backs, their guns sent flying into the air and the three of them fell to the ground.

"True, but my publisher might be a bit mad though, considering I'm writing a–" Her sentence was cut off when she saw the men fall onto the floor. "–Fantasy book…?"

Deleted user

"Run, idiot!" the newcomer shouted as he wrestled with the two other men. And somehow, despite the fact he was smaller than both of them, his was winning.

(Sorry about that!)

Zyra stayed there, frozen for a few seconds as she watched the scene unfold in front of her. "What about you?" She asked, not sure what she should do.
