So, here's the thing. . . Fantasy is one big cliche. Like, we could go on for days about how many cliche there are in fantasy, because that's kind of the point. Get cliches and develop them really well, and BOOM! You got a good fantasy story!

That's a really good point. It bothers me when the clichés are nowhere close to realistic, though, then there is nothing relatable in the story (on top of the typical dragons and magic, lol)

Almost all Human and Elf cultures are European based. I have nothing against European cultures, I would just be cool to see other cultures be the 'main cultures' in fantasy.
Also, something new would be the main protagonist being female. I can't think of any fantasy novels that have the main character be female.

EEEEEEK!! I'm writing a story right now that's like that! for the Female protag part anyway. I have a European based culture though. But they're not like elves or anything. They're called sylph and I haven't really stuck to the traditional way of Sylph being written. BUT if you want a published story that does have a female protag I will recommend the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce. It might be an older written book but it's soooooooo good

(Hi for starters. New on here :P) I hate the whole "We've been friends since childhood but one day I realized I've always loved you" cliche, unless you're doing something like The Princess Bride which is a romatic comedy laughing at all those cliches. (Will always recommend that film, the book not so much.)

What if he just thinks he's in love but he's really just gay and confused

Well, good for me then because literally all my stories are fantasy, and all have female protagonists.

Hey, same here

I know this will have a bit of controversy, but I want to see more LGBTQ representation, but not in the overdramatized, HE IS GAY OH MY GOD THE WORLD IS ENDING way. In a lot of stories I've read on Wattpad and published, there is a ton of misrepresentation because I know people who are gay/bi/asexual and they act like normal people, but I rarely find that in stories.

OMG YES PLS WE HAVE NOROLE MODELS IN FANTASY

Sophie Herbert

It makes me really happy hearing that people are writing asexual characters. Being ace myself I hate how sexually charged most books are. It would be real nice to not have the book revolve around romance and to have an ace character that just doesn't give a shit about romance and finds it silly.

@Kinarymo

True

But if thats the case, does that mean i dont exist?

But ye, i gotta agree - sexually charged stories just make me squint in semi confused disgust. Like, okay, i can take one of those moments where two characters just get to it after some period of silence, i get them, ppl get horny, nothing wrong with that (especially if they go through a lot of shit). But if its in every other chapter, then im sorry, i was here for the plot, not to see u guys bone whenever the plot is starting to loosen. Unless the power of ur libido is somehow essential to the plot, then i would really prefer not to see it, thank u ^^ But that might be just me, i dunno 'bout others. i might be interested in a story where the horny character/couple keeps getting into trouble because of it or ppl walk in on them, and the MCs kinda question why they still hang out with them
Most of my characters are somewhere in the ace region until proven otherwise (except this one snake dude who is a total sucker for an elf guy who runs the local mafia)
i want more emotional love and less boning one night stands are everywhere, but actual love is forever
