In short, a Pokemon roleplay. But make it a dystopian setting where our heroes are rebels attempting to overthrow a dictator (the Paramount), and you have the right idea!

The setting of this roleplay is a city known as Silverhold.

Silverhold is well-known for the wide river that passes through the center of the city, which often takes on a silver hue due to the reflection from large metal walls surrounding the city, so high in stature that no one could ever hope to enter—or exit—without passing through the gates. Before the city was known as Silverhold, before the construction of the walls, it was known as Chargepoint. Traditionally, it was the home of many electric and water-type Pokemon, due to the industrial prowess of Chargepoint and the aforementioned river.

Nowadays, there are no such Pokemon roaming the streets, as they've all been taken by the Paramount and his men.

Pokemon have been outlawed, classified as weapons that one would need a permit to wield. Only the Paramount and his men are able to obtain those permits, and the only way to join his forces is to first swear your loyalty to him.

Those who are found illegally harboring Pokemon are imprisoned or made a public example to the rest of the population. Worse still, the people of Silverhold have no hope of escaping the towering walls surrounding the city without the Paramount's explicit permission. Life without Pokemon is inevitable.

Enter our rebels. Old trainers united by the fury of having both their freedom and their Pokemon stolen. They must work together in an effort to overthrow the Paramount and restore the former beauty of Chargepoint and the freedom of everyone who resides in it.

It won’t be easy, but their city needs them.

What I’m thinking: The first three people to join will give me a few of their preferred pokemon.

My character is an ex-gym leader-turned-co-leader-of-the-rebelion who was imprisoned for defying the government and keeping their pokemon. All according to plan. With inside help, this enabled them to rescue a number of pokemon and make their escape.

Now they’re putting together a team of once-promising trainers who had their teams stolen and giving them each a ragtag group of rescued pokemon to fight with. Your characters are these trainers, and together, you’ll help support the rebellion.

Obviously this is a more mature take on a Pokemon roleplay. There will likely be graphic depictions of violence and the stakes are far higher than in your typical pokemon game or show. The threat of death exists, both for trainers and pokemon, and there’s likely to be a lot of trauma because Silverhold is very much NOT a good place. I'm going to rate it as ages 15+.

If this still appeals to you, then you are more than welcome to join. I’ll post the template as soon as the spots are filled!

RULES:

  • andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s Rules
  • Don't try and control characters that aren't yours without explicit permission.
  • Don't make your character (or their team) overpowered or omniscient.
  • Respond with an appropriate amount of content. There's no word count requirement and you don't have to match the amount that other people post, but read the room! Give everyone something to work with.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

@Vitae_

(Yes to both! I'll wait for one more person to join and then get a character template up for ya. It'll probably be a simple one, and it'll be up to you how much you want to disclose before we get into the plot!)

@Vitae_

(Hi again lol, you're still welcome to join! Given no one else seems interested in taking the last available spot, I'll just fill in with another character of my own. It might work out better that way! I'll post with more information soon.)

@Vitae_

I'm going to ask for you both to fill out a very basic character template!

I'm going to have us all leave the backstory and personalities out of it for now, since I think it would be fun to have it all revealed throughout the course of the plot as our characters forge bonds together.

I do have a few requirements for the Pokemon teams!! We're each going to start out with three Pokemon each for our trainers. No legendaries or mythicals, and no more than one psuedo-legendary while we're starting out. Remember that your team has an opportunity to change and grow throughout, both literally and figuratively, so this isn't your permanent team. If you have a plot point idea where your character comes into possession of a special Pokemon, message me privately and we can figure out how to work that into the future.

Aside from that, keep in mind that your teams are going to be full of rescued Pokemon that your character has likely never met before. There are going to be some low leveled Pokemon, and I'd prefer it if you didn't have any fully evolved if said Pokemon is part of an evolution line of three. Aka don't have a fully evolved Charizard; instead either have a Charmander or Charmeleon.

One last thing—Pokemon from all regions are perfectly acceptible! This is a homebrew region, aka one that doesn't already exist in any games or series.

If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to reach out to me!

@Vitae_

Oops, one more thing! Since this is a dystopian take on the world of Pokemon, our rebels will have to know how to fight on their own, as well. There will be weapons as well as Pokemon moves to watch out for, and they'll have to fight fire with fire. Just something to keep in mind!

Name: Elroy Merit
Age: 23
Gender: Male, he/him
Appearance: Roy has caramel-colored skin and a thin frame, around 5'6". His hair is long, black, and styled into a shaggy pseudo-mullet. The underneath used to be dyed a stark yellow, but it's faded into a muted blonde over time. His eyes are an unsettling icy blue that, more often than not, are obscured by heavy eye bags. He has tons of freckles across his cheeks and nose, and an almost gaunt-looking face to contrast the youthful appearance they give him. His typical outfit is something comfortable and easy to move in—black joggers, a light gray v-neck t-shirt, and a black zipper jacket with a gym logo on the back. He almost always wears his bright yellow sneakers and bright yellow bandana, to boot. Always at his hip is a special tool belt meant to comfortably holster poke balls. On the other hip is an actual gun holster, as well as an extra loop for a different kind of weapon.

Here's a lil Picrew. Just imagine a bit more color scattered throughout his design, and you have the right idea!
Aspirations: To rid Silverhold of the Paramount and return the city to the former beauty of Chargepoint.
Pokemon Team: Mudbray, Corviknight, Jolteon

(I realize I'm breaking my own rules with this one's team, but there's a plot-driven reason for it, I promise.)

@Vitae_

(For context, all the recruits have in some way or another been recommended by another person to join this resistance. They all entered through a camouflaged door, traveled quite far through the tunnel, and have been told only to wait there for further instruction.)

The air in the entrance to the cavern was cold and still, save for the occasional movement of the people inside. Various crystal deposits growing from the stone provided just enough eerie, greenish light to make out the colliding features of natural and manmade supports. Most of the exposed surface in the cavern was smooth but oddly shaped rock, as if it had been carved out by an ancient underground river centuries ago, while the pillars towards the center of the cavern were obtrusively precise in their geometry.

Stepping slowly and quietly into the cavern was a small-framed, caramel-skinned man who looked more like a boy. The bags under his eyes were heavy and caught the glow of the crystals in an unflattering manner, making him look sickly against the bright yellow contrast of the bandana nearly hiding his mouth.

He glanced apathetically past his feet, where a large, gaping chasm filled the center of the cavern where he and the recruits were standing. Beyond it, he could see nothing but darkness punctuated by the occasional glimmer of what might’ve been torchlight far, far below them. One of his scuffed, bright yellow sneakers dislodged a group of loose pebbles and sent them tumbling into the void. There was no noise to follow that indicated an end to the fall.

A faint updraft lifted the young man's shaggy bangs from his forehead, tickling the skin in a way that was oddly grounding, and then Elroy Merit turned to look at the other occupants of the room.

“Why are you here?” he rasped, his voice calm but oddly strained.

@lord-of-the-carnival group

Tree leans casually against the side of the cavern, watching the dust float around with vague interest.

As soon as the man - boy? - talked, she looked over and chuckles. Her voice was high and sweet, but very, very filled with a roiling turmoil of suppressed emotions.

"Why are we here? To join the resistance, of course." she replies with an unidentifiable tone as she turns to look directly at him. "What else would we be here for? A tea party? Maybe we'd have some time for baking and sewing classes while we're here too."

Now it was very identifiable as heavy ammounts of sarcasm.

@Vitae_

(Oop, definitely should've reiterated this, but the recruits shouldn't have their Pokemon just yet! With the current state of their world, every resident of Silverhold has had their Pokemon taken from them, only excluding the people working for The Paramount. Sorry about that—I really should've clarified before I posted. They'll be given their Pokemon once they're officially accepted into the resistance!)

@Vitae_

(Yeaaah, that's on me. Apologies again!! And thank you for fixing it <3 They'll be getting their Pokemon soon, don't worry!)
