What inspired you to make your characters? Was it another pre existing character? A show? A video game? A movie? A concept you just really enjoyed? Yourself or someone you know even? Or did they just materialise into thin air and take over your mind, body and soul and live there rent free like the little friends they are?
For me it was a huge mix of content and media that I watched over my years being in fandom culture…then trying to make something new out of it. Notable shows was The Dragon Prince and Castlevania since their characters, worlds, and writing just phenomenal and such a huge source of inspiration. On the other hand Voltron Legendary Defender really made me think about character arcs…since those who have watched the show knows how poorly all character's arcs ended…showed me what not to do in a way. Overall whether that be for a negative or positive reason these pieces of media influence me a lot.

Theo was inspired by Leo Valdez from Heroes of Olympus.
Fitz design was inspired by a young(er) Philip Wittebane from The Owl House, his personality is inspired by Langa Hasegawa from sk8 the Infinity.
Edor was inspired by Alador Blight from The Owl House.
Edith was inspired by Rachel from the Percy Jackson Book series and Erin from the book Cinderella is dead.
Marcie was inspired by Marcy Wu from Amphibia and Toph from Avatar.

Cracks knuckles-
Memphis and Shane are both inspired by the same character, but over the years they've both evolved into theyre own. They're based off Kenny from south park. Memphis is carefree and fiercely loyal, which is what ultimately led to his downfall, while Shane is analytical and at times impulsive.
Eric and Colton are both based on the same character as well, Dallas Winston from the outsiders. Eric is stern, often ignorant and only has street smarts, while Colton is cocky, cares more that he's willing to admit and a little bit of a man whore.
Markus' design is based on a piece of fan art i saw for Butters from South Park. It pictured him with one eye a lighter blue than the other and a bowl cut, and I absolutely loved the design. His personality isn't based on anything though, its his own.
Fraser is based on a YouTuber I used to watch, INabber. They share a name and similar appearence, but that's really the only connection between the two.
Ooh. Okay. Interesting question. Well, mine are inspired by a mix of things as well; some from book characters, but most from people I know in real life and songs. We’ll start with the ones from the book I’m working on now-
McKay’s character was actually mainly inspired by the song Far From Home (the Raven). He’s a very stern character, troubled by a past he can’t remember, but he is incredibly intelligent and will grow protective over someone he’s close to. The song mostly inspired his background along with his powers.
While most of my characters aren’t based off of anything specific, I do have a few who are loosely based off of people I know in real life. Caylie and Alaina are two of those characters.

Narion - my favorite abused child, evolved from Harry Potter and My Attempt at Changing The End of the Book™. I was obsessed with HP back then, and Narion was initially just a Harry copy but later on they evolved into their own creature. Mixed with a little bit of Haku from Spirited away and Toph from ATLA
Avatar (now Tierlain) - their dad, based on Howl from Howl's moving Castle, because yes. Also mixed in with a lot of aspects from my dad
Hiryur - antagonist or rather antihero, he came about from my attempt at salvaging ideas from my old draft, and contemplating adding a queer character while grating apples. Looks wise he takes a lot after Berg Katze and his voice would have been Orochi's from the game Onmyoji ( later i learned it's the same dude who voices Berg too)
Mahiru - villain, initially started out as a man and a primordial evil demon thing that was loosely based on Firelord Ozai from ATLA. Now she graduated to being the last survivor of a former celestial world
Most of my main characters I made with someone else so it was sort of like a collab to make a character and each one came out so different and unique i love them all
As for the ones I made myself, Jake was inspired by another user's character on here a while back, this person's character went by the name Bastion and he was basically a huge flirt and pretty chaotic so i decided that i wanted to make a character like that too, course, not copying the character but making something similar and he's my absolute favorite character by far. he never really stayed the same and always kept changing but i like the way he turned out.
Jen was inspired by Dazai from Bungo Stray Dogs, minus the suicidal and playful nature, it was mostly his style that inspired me to make Jen, he also comes from like your typical mechanic, recently more inspired by Sorano from Appare-Ranman! very much the inventor type and liking to figure out how things work
For Kohen, i saw this one prompt about a homophobic guy that also happened to be gay and i immediately went sicko mode and made this character on a whim, he was also pretty easy to make as i could pour all my previous experience with being homophobic but also having the conflict of being gay and being told that it was wrong.
These are just three, i have more but i don't want to make this really long so yeah, each character has a little piece of me, and i adore them all, they also serve to remind me of the memories i made with certain users on here that are no longer active
Who inspired my character…easy, Scourge from the Warrior Cats series. Being a rogue, NOT NEUTERED CAT, it was pretty easy to make the assumption that Scourge could have had many mates when he was alive, and he didn't really care about being careful. Hence, he'd probably have a few kits with his DNA, not that he cared. One of those unknown kits, would later be found abandoned outside ThunderClan, a few moons after the death of Scourge. And his warrior name, would someday be SkullFace.
I didn;t have much inspiration for my 2 min characters but for Silvia, she is majorly influenced by toga from my hero acedamia. She's not a villian but she "falls in love" with injured people and wants to kill them herself
Noa was inspired mostly from Adora from She-Ra
Evrin was inspired from Willow (owl house) and Glimmer (she-ra)
Cass was inspired by Barney (paranormal park)
Quinton was inspired by Luz from the owl house and slightly dipper from gravity falls
Alex was a character that’s just there
Orianna was inspired by perfume (she-ra) and Marcy (Amphibia)
Mai was inspired by zuko and Mai (namesake) from atla
Beatrice was inspired by an oc on twitter!
Azker was inspired by flyhigh(from exospheric corruption)
And arcy was inspired by lateral(from dimensional deep end)
Savannah:
She is my first (and favorite) oc was created when I was bored during softball practice when I was little. I originally developed her based on traits that I admired about myself and what I wished I had. She was like a better version of me, in a way (if that makes sense). Some of the talents that she had that I wish I had was her archery skills, knife throwing, and her ability to make inventions. Some of her negative traits are based on my own like her impulsiveness and her sharp tongue. I later fleshed out some more of her inspired by characters like Cassandra Cain (Black Bat-DC), Jinx (from Arcane and LoL), Celaena Sardothien (from Throne of Glass series), Black Widow (from Marvel), and others.
