His parents had always warned him about drugs sold on the street, but never about the ones that came with deep brown eyes and a heartbeat. She wasn't Marya, a pretty, soft, weak maid at the palace anymore. She was Marya, brave and strong, but still pretty. As Felix watched her gather wood for a fire, dirty blonde hair falling across her face, he wondered if she was still the same person that he'd loved. Or at least, he wanted it to be love. Was it love when you didn't actually know the other person? He didn't know. But he did know that he shouldn't even be questioning that right now. He had a duty to his president to report Marya. And yet…he longed for the feeling of her lips against his.
"Felix?" her voice jolted Felix from his thoughts. "Can you deal with sleeping on the ground for the night? I don't have enough time to build another makeshift bed." she motioned to the wooden surface she'd covered with her shawl.
He nodded and went back to leaning against a tree, cursing at himself. Stop it Felix. She was going to kill someone. You don't know her anymore.
Marya sat down, exhausted and leaned back, denim overalls getting dirty from the dirty forest floor. She looked over at Felix, biting back another apology. She'd tricked him into loving her. Played with his feelings. And she hadn't loved him back. But the locket pressing into her chest told a different story.
To Marya, with love.
She still kept it around her neck, hiding it under a striped long-sleeve t-shirt. Marya told herself that it was because the locket was gift and you must always accept a gift. Though, her thumping heart that beat rapidly when Felix passed her told a different story. I don't love him. I never did.

My favorite line to write was "His parents had always warned him about drugs sold on the street, but never about the ones that came with deep brown eyes and a heartbeat."

(I love all of these! I would share mine if I had any, but I'm more angst and action in my writing, and the only couple I have so far in my WIP isn't very cute. They're more like two people who happen to work very well together and keep each other's impulses in check. I love them, but there's not much to share. I'll definitely add on here if anything changes, though!)

(Does this count as fluff…?)
Dmitri runs a lot faster than you’re meant to, or maybe I’m just not used to running, but either way, I’m out of breath by the time we duck into a dark alleyway. It takes a minute to catch my breath, but once I do, almost nothing feels real. Not the police, not my family, and certainly not the law. In spite of myself, I laugh. Dmitri joins me, and for a moment, the world is nothing but us- two boys laughing in a back alley on a cool night, holding each other’s hands and kissing under the bright sky. Here, the dangers of what we’re doing doesn’t seem real. If it is, it’s nowhere near as real as the feeling of Dmitri’s hands, not as real as the taste of his mouth and the sound of his laughter. His voice is soft, as gentle as the breeze. Surely, here in Dmitri’s arms, nothing can hurt me.
