Hi, I have no idea how to create a character and I am in desperate need of some help. I like to draw, so I might draw some pics of the character later; it would help me a lot if you added physical descriptions. Thanks!

Okay. Well what are you struggling with exactly in creating your character?

@CinnamonRoll

Here, have one physical description and a few random facts…

-Female
-Messy brown bob cut
-Insane amounts of freckles
-Huge round glasses
-Long, elegant fingers from playing the piano
-Smol
-Laughs loud and low
-Wears bold, floral button-downs with high-waisted pants/skirts
-Basically addicted to chamomile tea
-Plays with string or hair ties when she's bored
-Loves exactly four things: her secondhand piano, her herb garden, her tea, and rainy days
-Lives in a small studio apartment, alone with her fish
-Works as a secretary, but finds it boring

Okay, that was way too fun for me!! If you want fantasy characters, edgy characters, love interests, etc, hit me up!! I hope you like it! :DD

If you need a base to work off of, my advice is to take what you have right now and set goals or an environment for your character to grow in. What I mean by that is have your end character and work backwards to where they are now.

This character and their development need something to change them. For example, if you wanted to put them into a love story they could learn to be a better or stronger person. If you wanted to write a futuristic space-y kind of story you could let them use their abilities to make a mistake and screw things up, but they have to learn.

Most people call it character development, but I just call it learning and growing. If a character doesn't develop the way most other characters do (learning) they'll repeatedly make the same mistakes and get angrier every time, which would lead to an antagonist. If you want a protagonist you have to set up a story where they learn.

I hope this helps you figure out how you want to develop your character, and just so you know, characters are not limited to just the kinds of development that I used as an example.
