literally give me any tips on serial killers. I am struggling. anything y'all know about them, anything. please.

I know this might not help but oh well
-Most serial killers will have a VERY high intelligence
-They will often be charming or have something welcoming about them
-They will kill either because they can, for power, or to get attention
-They will often go after one target demographic (i.e. Albert Fish went only after children)
-Usually after one serial killer comes, there will be more copycat killers
-America has the highest number of serial killers
-They will stay in one area
-They know what they're doing and will know how to clean everything up afterwords and make it all seem fine
-Will often have weird mother issues
-Some sort of head injury as a child
-bed wetting into later years
-Torturing and killing small animals
-Differences between a serial killer, a murderer, and a mass murderer
-Serial Killer: Kills I think 3 or more people over the span of a long time, with 'cooling periods' inbetween
-Mass Murderer: Kills a bunch of people all at once, like a shooting
-Murderer: Kills I think up to at most 3 people over a short span of time
-But all in all they could just be a person with really messed up morals, like Ted Bundy

Hello there, i'm gonna add some background story to your killer.
So why is he/she like this? Maybe you already have a plan but here are some suggestions:
-> Maybe he/she has a traumatic memory about his/her parents and he/she wants not to become like them, so he/she becomes the opposite of them.
-> What if the killer had an awful and poor life and realizes, that people who play by the rules get screwed and the only way to succeed is to break them?
-> Your killer can be a very realistic thinking figure who thinks a bit to logical, so his/her plans make perfectly sense to them, no matter the circumstances.
-> Maybe he/she kills for love? He/ she is so in love that it doesn't matter who lives or dies as long as (now you can choose) 1) the beloved one is save or 2) the killer gets what he wants
-> Okay, so let's pretend the killer never wanted this in the first place, he/she just wanted to defend him/herself or had to act in a desperate situation and he/she slowly drives into insanity because of this.
-> Or he/she just thinks it's entertaining
